“Gen?” Ash asked, waving his hand in front of my face.
I shook my head and shifted my eyes to him. “What?” I snapped.
“You were zoning out. Something wrong?” he asked.
I looked down at the papers in my hand, running my finger over the incriminating note that meant Caleb had killed my parents. At least, he’d had them killed. Even if he didn’t cut the brakes himself.
“For a moment, I really wanted to believe that he could be the charming man he pretends to be,” I muttered softly.
“My dad?” Ash asked, snorting a laugh. He lifted his eyes to mine, his smile fading quickly. “Oh.”
“I went into the dungeon and talked to Gabby,” I said.
“Gabby?” Ash asked, jaw dropping open. “I… well, I remember more about her than my own mother.”
“We’ve got to get them out of there,” I said.
“I’ve already thought of possibilities and I don’t know if any of them will work. It is difficult to know how much of the pack is complicit with their imprisonment,” he pointed out.
