Chapter 1A husband's betrayal (1)

"Do you hear it?" Selene Valor questioned, her ears picking up on the sound of a horn.

She couldn't mistake that sound she heard the day Gabriel and all the other men left.

Gabriel Valor, her husband, parted from Selene nearly six months ago to join the king's army and end a long war.

Good news reached the town of Gabriel's victories, and he was now declared the kingdom's current hero. The king himself would reward him for his triumph and grant him anything he wanted.

Selene picked up her dress to run to the front door, ignoring how the guests entering for the banquet she prepared gawked at her. It was unladylike, maybe but she was too focused on seeing her husband.

When she reached the door, Selene raised her hand to cover her face to protect her red eyes from the sun's light. Although it stung to be out in the day at times, she could bear with it to see her husband.

"Gabriel!" Selene cried out his name, her happiness filling the air.

Now that Gabriel had returned, Selene thought of how their arrangement started. Selene was one of the few pureblood vampires who resided in the town which gave her more status above the mixed bloods like her husband.

Mixed-bloods were the offspring of humans bitten by purebloods and turned into vampires.

Along with her pureblood lineage, Selene was once the daughter of a nobleman. Her father had been a Count but after his death, his title had been passed to the oldest male heir in the family which was her cousin since her father didn't have sons.

Selene needed protection from her relatives who sought out what little wealth her father placed in her name before his death and was lucky to meet with Gabriel who would do anything to marry a lady with status.

Selene promised to look after the mansion Gabriel had to his name while he would send off the relatives who came to trouble her.

How could they trouble her now when the great hero was her husband?

"Gabriel!" A wave of praises for him was heard as Gabriel entered the gates. The guests invited to the banquet could not tear their gaze away from him.

Selene was focused on her husband. He rode at the front of the group, his armour made him stand out from the rest.

Selene stopped at the bottom of the steps waiting for him to get off his horse.

But Gabriel didn't stop, he rode past Selene before getting off. After handing the reins to a servant, he took off his helmet, looking at her for the first time.

It dawned on Selene now that she saw his face clearly, the sight of her upset him.

Gabriel despised the way Selene smiled like she had any love for him. He knew that she didn't. She had always been using him, leaving him with nothing. He had been too foolish to see it in the past but something opened his eyes to her ways.

Gabriel was tired from the long journey but he could not ignore the people who praised him and wanted to speak to him about his victory. He returned a new man and with this new status, he could not only settle for a woman like Selene.

Selene waited for Gabriel to hug her or say anything. Hadn't he missed her like she missed him?

He stared at her like a stranger was standing before him. His red eyes judged her as if she had committed a heinous crime.

Selene smiled, deciding to make the first move for their reunion. "Welcome back, my husband. You accomplished what you dreamed of and it doesn't look like you were hurt. I prepared a banquet for you."

Selene spent days carefully planning for his return. She sent invitations all around the town starting from the king to Lord Blackthorn and other noblemen.

Gabriel didn't care for her greeting. He knew she rehearsed it multiple times, in her attempt to play her role of his perfect noble wife. He turned away, making his way towards his most prized possession.

Selene frowned. Why was he so distant? There was not even a flicker of acknowledgement in his eyes while she spoke. Still, she was eager to please. To tell him what she had done for him, to tell him how much she missed him.

She was finally ready to confess her love for him.

Gabriel didn't spare much time listening to her greeting he knew would have been rehearsed before his return to place her role as his wife well. He turned away from Selene to make his way to his most prized possession.

Selene did not understand his behaviour. There wasn't a flicker of acknowledgement on Gabriel's part while she spoke. Still, she was eager to tell him of the banquet. To tell him how much she missed him and finally confess her love.

"I am hosting it in honour of your accomplishments. You are the kingdom's hero. What are you-' Selene's voice was lost in the wind as she noticed he had left her to go to someone seated on a horse.

She hadn't noticed earlier, her attention had been on her husband. There was someone amongst the group, not dressed in armour, sticking out like a sore thumb.

Selene frowned, her heart pounding similar to the beat of the drums which replaced the horns. The stranger wore a cloak to cover their head but she didn't miss the slender hand reaching down to accept Gabriel's help off the horse.

Selene remained silent, not wanting to let her thoughts run wild before Gabriel explained this to her.

Still, her heart ached when the young woman looked up and her eyes revealed she was merely a human. A human who couldn't be anything more than a commoner.

Gabriel stopped before Selene again, still holding onto the hand of the human who removed the cloak to show her face. "She is Cassandra Avery, my lover. From this day onward, she will reside here with us. You will teach her what she needs to know to help you."

Selene was too stunned to speak. She felt like she had been dipped into cold water without warning. He could not do this to her.

She was his wife and a pureblood. It was insulting for him to bring a human here and ask her to help her, his mistress.

Selene was at a loss for words. She didn't need to look around to know the vampires present were laughing at her since it was a humiliating sight. Since when had her kind ever faced something like this?

Selene wanted to grab Gabriel and have him confess it was only a stupid joke. Their arrangement was not perfect but he had to respect her as she respected him. He raised her hopes about love before he left only to return to her like this.

How could he do this to her?

Selene could not believe the man standing before her. "You brought a mistress home, a human no less! Have you lost your mind?"

His strides are long and confident, heading in my direction like he knows exactly what he wants. He stops before me, and my head tips back. "How is that possible?" His voice drops to a rumbling whisper. Now that he was close to me, the burning ache deep within started to throb and palpitate. His body tensed, and then he was on me, nose against my neck, inhaling deeply, one hand on the side of my hair, pinning me in place with his hips. My head tilts back, unable to stop myself from giving into his touch, exposing my neck more to him, his chest rumbling as he licks the side of my skin, kissing and nipping, placing his scent over me. I am completely and utterly at his mercy. I vaguely hear material ripping, and then his warm hand cups me. "You're not finished yet," his voice is thick and deep, and it shoots straight to my tingling, pulsing core. His touch is almost possessive, and I nearly beg him to do whatever he wants with me. "Should I make it better?" His whisper is a caress against my ear before he nips the lobe, a bite promising that this would not be tender. - Daily chapter uploads -

When the certain darkness threatens to take Oriana away, will the Dragon be able to protect his mate? ----- Excerpt- “If I knew you were my betrothed, I would have killed you the very first moment we met." Arlan's gaze darkened with hatred. “If I knew I was betrothed to you, I would have killed myself before you even killed me!” Oriana mirrored the same emotions as him. He pulled out a dagger and offered it to her. “It’s not too late. Just slit your throat with this and you'll bleed out painlessly.” She accepted the knife, her fingers clutching its handle tightly. The next moment, he was pressed against the wall and the knife was on the right side of his neck. “How about I try it on you first, my betrothed?” “Feel free to try. But when you fail, this knife will first taste your grandpa's blood, then yours.” Anger rose in her eyes, and the next moment, blood was flowing through the right side of his neck. She cut deep enough to severe an important blood vessel. “You should not have challenged me,” she sneered and stepped back, waiting for him to collapse. He simply smirked and brushed his finger along the deep wound on his neck. “Seems like you failed.” She watched the wound on his neck heal on its own and felt shocked to her bones. “You.. what are you?” “Guess?” ----- Instagram- mynovel.20 Facebook- Author mynoveltwenty

And she believed him.  But then, the other one comes instead.  Dark, broody, ruthless yet dangerously handsome, everyone feared Prince Aldric. To be loved. He would never have her heart!  Or could he?  ________ "What can you offer me, little human," He grinned, slow and cruel. She would make such a wonderful plaything.  "Please," She begged him, tears now gathering in her eyes, "Just let me go."  "Fine," He shrugged as if it was an easy request, "You can go."  "W-what?" She croaked, finding it hard to believe.  "Little human, you would find out my mind changes very easily." Those words sounded merciful yet she could sense the threat beneath.  But did he really mean?  Islinda didn't sit around to find out as she broke into a sprint. If there was even the slightest chance of him changing his mind, then she would take it. She would not give up hope yet.  She didn't know why but Islinda spared a look over her shoulder after a while and the blood drained from her face at what she saw coming.  Oh no, she just made a terrible mistake.  This was never freedom.  It was a hunt.  And she just became the prey.  _________ Note: This is a dark fantasy book and the male lead is a villain, so don't expect fluffy romance. Hellbound Heart

[WARNING: MATURE CONTENT] - Izabelle had underestimated the fire she thought she was going to play with tonight. But how could she ever have foreseen that the man she had happened to come across with does not play with just a small fire, but a whole inferno? ___ Excerpt: "You going through this marriage with me might as well be like you digging your own grave. Because the moment you start to want more from me, I will divorce you. And the moment you break your promise and try to fight me… I will ruin you and break you apart completely. Mercilessly. You will regret ever meeting this devil tonight." His threat was given in the same soft but cold voice. But Elle did not even flinch. Her gaze never faltered either. This man was ruthless, and she knew that clearly. His eyes that moment promised nightmares and darkness without any promise of respite. But no matter what he says now, it would still not change her decision. She truly had no other choice. "I understand now…" she said quietly, steeling herself. "Since you don't trust that I will keep my word, how about we do this? You prepare the divorce documents beforehand now and I'll sign it. That way, once you decide to divorce me in the future, the papers would already have been signed and there would be no way I can trouble you about it. You would just need to send it to the lawyers and have it notarized." A heavy silence reigned before his quiet disbelieving laugh broke the silence. "I'm at a loss for words, Princess Izabelle." He looked wickedly amused. But then he started nodding in approval. "Fine, princess. I will marry you." ___ Instagram account: kazzenlx.x facebook page: author_kazzenlx Discord server: https://discord.gg/UGTA3A4 Cover is mine so don't use it. Royal Secret: I'm a Princess!

After living as a famous Korean vlogger-slash-mukbanger, Neoma died a (shameful) death and regressed to her tragic first life--- the life where she has to live as a hidden princess with a tyrannical father and a yandere twin brother. She died at the hands of her psycho brother in her first life. But luckily, she charmed her "big brother" this time. Her father remains a sc*mbag, though. But a blessing in disguise happened when her twin brother got "sick." Because of that, she has to pretend as the "Crown Prince," forcing her father to treat her well. She thought she was finally on the road to becoming a lady of leisure. But, despite her laziness, she still ends up completing royal duties that put her closer to the throne than her sick twin brother. The next thing she knew, they already prophesied her to be the first empress of their very patriarchal empire. Now Neoma finds herself in the middle of the succession war she never wanted to be involved in! *** [EXCERPT 1] “Neoma de Moonasterio, the first princess of Moonasterion Empire. From now on, you’ll live as Prince Nero’s proxy.” [The hell is this psycho saying?] Neoma, despite her confusion, still smiled at her father--- the emperor. “Father, what do you mean by that?” “From now on, assassins sent by my enemies would target Nero,” the emperor explained. “Until he’s strong enough to protect himself, you’ll pose as your twin brother.” Her smile froze, but she still acted innocent. “But Father. If I take my brother’s position, then wouldn’t the assassins mistake me for him and…” She stopped talking when she realized that was exactly what the emperor wanted her to do. [This sc*mbag wants me to be bait?!] “You’re no longer a princess, Neoma de Moonasterio. From now on, you’ll live as Prince Nero de Moonasterio,” Emperor Nikolai said coldly while looking down at her with glowing red eyes. “Try to survive until your twin brother comes back to take his rightful place, understood?” Neoma was too shocked to react. [Are you f*cking kidding me, you sc*mbag?!] *** [ORIGINAL BOOK COVER. Artwork by sola_cola.] *** [EXCERPT 2] “I’m so sick of your tyrannical a*s,” Neoma yelled at her father aka the emperor. “I won’t forgive you for hurting Lewis and Tteokbokki!” “What will you do about it then?” Nikolai asked with a smirk. “Kill me?” “Yes! I’ll f*cking kill you, sc*mbag!” “Language,” he warned her, upset that his five-year-old daughter curses like a sailor. “Using vulgar words is unbecoming of the future Crown Prince.” “I’m a princess!” Upon yelling those words, the royal princess’s eye color changed from ash-gray to red. [This is getting serious.] “Stop it, Nero,” Nikolai told her sternly. “If you keep that up, the royal knights will come and–” “I’m not Nero!” Neoma screeched angrily. Then she jumped in the air with her left fist, ready to punch him. “In the name of the moon, I’ll punish you!” [What…?] And Princess Neoma, pretending as the Crown Prince for her sick twin brother, punched Emperor Nikolai, her father, in the face.
