My determination

After we discussed some things, the doctors came back and gave the final report on my state, telling my parents that now my condition will only improve and I will be fine in seven days. Soon after that, they informed the staff what potions should I be given and after that they left.

My parents asked me what are my plans and once again were worried about how I feel. My father was still unsure about my fear of killing, of hurting and by the result - fearing of training. That's why he asked that I tell him my final decision in a day, after my thoughts are more clear. Soon, everyone left me alone in the room to let me rest, George told me that I should call him if I need something. While he was leaving my room he stopped for a second wanting to say something, but then he changed his mind and just wished me good night.

Sitting on my bed, in complete silence I could finally take a breath and analyze everything that has happened so far and to be honest, I was overwhelmed.

"Fuck, just after being killed by my friends, I only lived again to nearly die again and not just by ANYTHING, but by the hands of those I killed in my last life. Huh... but looking at a good side, I have freedom and something that I always dreamed about - a family..." Whispering the last word I was going to fall asleep, but then suddenly remembered my promise to Kayn. That I would never bow to anyone. I stood up from the bed and hit the wall so hard that my hand started bleeding. I reminded myself that there is no time to enjoy myself, I, as an assassin have to be ready. I decided that I will train with George like there is no tomorrow. Even after his teachings, I will refine my body and review what I learned, on top of that I will be adding my own training, even if I feel like dying from exhaustion I won't stop until I can protect myself and my family. With my new goal in my life I recalled the smile of three bullies from Yatell family. I thought 'just you wait, I'm coming for you all' and this was the moment that the sleep has finally defeated me.

Next morning the whole household was in an uproar. My parents have already shared that I have awakened two affinities. All the servants were looking at me like I was a completely new person. They started to respect me, earlier they were just doing their job, now they felt privileged to serve someone like me. I went to the hall, where my family was already eating breakfast.

"Morning mom, morning dad." I greeted my parents and sat at the table, which was filled with all kinds of meals - salads, porridge, honeyed rolls, some kind of egg creation, the cheff must have been carried away by his fantasy, because it was looking as if it was golden. That's obviously not the end of the meals, but I couldn't even describe the other ones, they were looking so exquisite, irresistible and well-prepared that If I didn't know that the meals we didn't eat would be given to our buttlers and maids, I would see it as a complete waste of food, a blasphemy against perfectness. This was the moment I began to understand the life of noblesse, the life of luxury. I saw the purpose in food, living as an assassin the bread was good enough for me, but now I doubt I would ever go back to eating it.

After we finished breakfast, George who was observing whether we need anything, cleaned the table and took our plates back to the kitchen leaving only me and my parents in the dinning hall.

"Kayn, have you made up your mind?" My father asked me, no need to explain what he meant.

"Yes, I will train and I will become strong, no, not just strong - the strongest." Looking him into the eyes I replied, my voice not wavering in the slightest as I confidently confirmed my resolution to gain the strength so much needed for our family right now." After I finished he suddenly flashed and appeared right before me, his sword pointed and my head. He smiled when he saw that I was unfazed and didn't even blink.

"Don't regret it later, leave the doubts in the past as now I see you not just as a son, but as a warrior. You are indeed ready as this can be seen in your eyes. George, show yourself." My father ordered and while I thought George would come back through the door he just appeared behind me and it was as if he came out directly ouf of the shadows.

"My Lord, I'm here. I will train the heir of the Mivis family and pass to him all I know about the darkness element that now both of us posses. All the knowledge about it, training of its usage and other aspects that he has to learn - all will be taken care of me." George said to my father, they seemed to both understand each other and came to agreement about my training without any words.

"I'm glad that all of you are so eager to train, but I hope I don't have to remind you that he has to recover, is that right my dearrr husband?" The sweet voice of my mother was a complete opposite of the intent behind her words. I guess it was a given that she wouldn't allow me to train until I'm fully healed. However...

"Mom, please let me train a little. I promise, I won't overdo it with the training. After drinking the potions that you have given me I really feel a lot better." I tried to convince her as with my current strength there was no way I would be able to laze around and not train.

"Madam, we will take it easy. He will be fine in my care, don't you worry." George tried to reassure her, seeing that she still wasn't persuaded.

"Since you ask so much for it, I will give you permission. However, if his condition worsens he won't train for a week." My mother warned George, but he just nodded his head. He then gestured at me to follow him.

Walking behind the George I could finally pay more attention to the interior of Mivis mansion. The floor was adorned with simple yet elegant red and black carpets, while the golden chandeliers above us, bathed the corridors in a warm glow. The presence of numerous maids and butlers added to the atmosphere, making the whole mansion very lively. My eyes wandered to one of the many portraits hanging on the wall.

"Young master, that's your grandfather, Arthur Mivis, the father of your father. As you may not be aware, let me inform you that he will be arriving tomorrow. The recent attack forced your parents to come back here and dissuaded another attempt to move to your grandfathers mansion. Since your condition was serious and still is, your grandfathers are the ones coming, along with them their army, in order to protect the Mivis family." Seeing my curiosity, George explained who was on the portrait and talked a little about my grandfathers also mentioning that they will be visiting soon.

I was going to ask him about my grandfather, but it seemed like we were at our destination - the training grounds.
