Chapter 5: The Party

Sophie's POV

The day had taken an unexpected turn as detention led to an invitation to a party. Kyle, one of Alex's football buddies, had extended the offer, and my excitement was palpable. I couldn't help but wonder if this could be a chance to change things, maybe even approach Alex and figure out the mystery of the secret admirer.

After detention, I rushed home, eager to share the news with my best friend, Lily. As I entered our house, I found Lily in the living room, engaged in a conversation with my mom. They were discussing the party and how much they wanted me to go.

"Please, Mrs. Williams, just this once," Lily pleaded with my mom. "Sophie deserves to have some fun and experience what it's like to be a teenager."

My mom looked at me with a warm smile. "I agree, Sophie. You should enjoy being a teenager and go have some fun at the party."

I was overjoyed by their support, and I couldn't thank Lily and my mom enough. With their encouragement, I felt more excited about the party than ever.

Lily and I hurried to my room to get ready. She picked out a stunning dress for me, and I helped her style her blonde hair. We transformed each other, turning Lily's straight locks into elegant braids and my brown hair into soft, flowing curls.

By the time we were ready, it was already 8:30 pm. Ross, who was going to pick us up for the party, had arrived. The three of us exchanged excited glances, and I couldn't help but feel that this night might bring the answers I'd been longing for, along with a new chapter in our lives.
