Chapter 15: Return 2

[ 3rd person POV]

Looking over at Kevin, who was currently engrossed in examining a new item he had acquired, Rojo spoke up and asked, "Hey, little Drac, can I ask you a few things?"

Upon hearing her new nickname, Kevin simply chuckled and did not object. "Sure, go ahead."

"Where did all the others go? This facility has clearly been here for a long time, equipped enough to serve an army. But since I arrived, I haven't seen anyone else except BT. And about the big boss , Saul mentioned that I would meet him soon, but there has been no communication so far."

"Oh,about that. I've been wondering when you'd ask about it," Kevin chuckled and pulled out a KV-11, handing it to Rojo.

"What is this?" Rojo questioned with suspicion.

"It's an authentic product from the organization, the world's first super-smartphone."

"A phone? Why does it have so few buttons?"

"Of course, this phone holds technology far beyond the present time. You'll get used to it. Inside, I've integrated a basic handbook on the various forces on Earth as well as in outer space. Feel free to study it."

"So, we've taken over the base of a global organization and are powerful enough to defeat countless extraterrestrial armies?" Rojo asked, her tone filled with astonishment.

"Don't exaggerate. We simply repurposed this facility," Kevin replied.

"But what if they come back? Or what if they already know someone is here and are planning to take us down?" Rojo asked anxiously.

"Well, they can try," Kevin replied nonchalantly, his eyes still fixed on the computer screen.

"Oh, absolutely! I'm sure their hearts are just trembling at the sound of your nonchalant bravado. I mean, who needs an actual plan or a hint of concern when we have your casual confidence to protect us?" Rojo continued sarcastically, before Kevin could respond.

Before Kevin could reply, Rojo continued, "Seriously, does our boss have any connections with the government, or do we have enough forces to counter them?"

Pausing his actions, Kevin looked at Rojo with a smirk, "The last time I checked, I didn't know anyone from the government. As for the organization's members, you're the second one, I prefer quality over quantity."

"Wait, are you implying that you're the actual boss and I'm the first employee of this organization?" Rojo asked.

Kevin nodded.

"This joke isn't very funny, Kevin. And I've met the lawyer you know, the one that can create..." Rojo paused as she saw Kevin's arm transform into a diamond-like substance.

"Creat what ? This?" Kevin asked, intrigued by Rojo's expression. Then his hand returned to its normal state, his fingers elongating and transforming into tree branches reaching towards a corner of the room, retrieving a metal case and bringing it over to Rojo.

As she opened it, she found a human skin suit, or rather, a synthetic one. The facial features were too distinct for Rojo to miss; it was the face of the lawyer who had visited her yesterday.

"Rojo, look at this," Kevin interrupted her thoughts.

When she turned her gaze towards the source of the sound, she saw Kevin standing in the middle of the room. His body slowly levitated into the air.

In her astonished gaze, a flame erupted, engulfing the young man. Heatwaves spread throughout the room, knocking down the female robber, even though she wore a heat-resistant armor. She could still feel the increasing intensity of the heat, imagining how terrifying the heat outside must be.

Just when she was about to reach her limit, the temperature began to decrease. The flames gradually diminished, revealing a familiar figure to Rojo. It was a humanoid creature with a body seemingly composed of molten rock and a flaming head.

Through the device provided by Kevin, Rojo knew exactly who this was-a Pyronite. An alien with the ability to create and control fire, each mature individual of this race was at least capable of leveling a town.

Even with alien technology, she had been defeated by Ben in this form. If someone like Kevin were to wield it, Rojo believed her chances of survival would be nonexistent.

The flaming head suddenly trembled, transforming back into Kevin's head, still wearing his familiar smile. He spoke, "As you can see, Rosie, if a war breaks out with the Plumbers, we won't be on the losing side."

"...."

That morning, Rojo left, leaving Kevin alone in this desolate fortress.

"Aren't you afraid she will betray you, Commander?" BT asked. His hand slowly slid the edge of a paper cutter across the creator's wrist.

"Why... would... I... Fuck..." Kevin struggled to utter a complete sentence while enduring the pain. Drops of sweat fell from his forehead.

"Focus, Commander, you must focus," the detestable machine whispered, embracing the head of its master and patting it. "Everything will be okay. Your beloved assistant is here."

"FUCK YOU, BT... And what is this for?" Kevin growled, veins bulging on his face.

"The data indicates that this action will help you relax and improve concentration," BT said while his hands didn't stop.

"It only... FUCK... works when you have flesh... And especially when you're not... the one holding the knife," Kevin irritably retorted.

"Oh, my apologies, Commander," BT said, simultaneously retracting both hands. "It's time for the performance, Commander."

Cursing at the damn piece of scrap before him, Kevin focused his attention on the snake-like wound on his hand.

His skin began to display faint greenish lines, while the blood gradually darkened. Slowly, the oozing blood retreated back into the wound, and the exposed flesh closed reluctantly.

Before Kevin could fully revel in his relief, his loyal machine companion grabbed his right hand. With a swift motion, BT twisted his index finger backward.

"Aaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh...." Agonized screams echoed throughout the room. "@₫_##₫@₫®©©¢©£.... you, BT."

The wound that had just closed burst open again. What poured out from Kevin was not just blood, but also a torrent of curses. Although the face of the Mechanical moron in front of him remained unchanged, Kevin was certain it was laughing somehow.

"You're doing very well, Commander. Please continue your efforts," it said.

Fighting back the anger and pain, Kevin's brain worked at full capacity. His injured hand grew darker in color, the electrical circuits reactivated, and the injured finger slowly moved back into its original position. Kevin forced a weary smile. "Succe...."

Suddenly, a blunt knife plunged into Kevin's shoulder and twisted. Once again, a heart-wrenching scream filled the air.

"You're doing very...,"

"I WILL KILL YOU."
