Monster hunting expedition (2)

We slowly moved forward heading towards the direction we were heading in in the first but this time at a slower pace. We moved with everyone taking a glance at random directions and keeping their eyes peeled for any trouble.

"GRRAAAAOOOHHH!"

A monster came charging at us. Just as Jason had predicted, it had one human foot and one foot that looked like it did not belong to anything in the animal kingdom. It was a giant gorilla.

Mark released the bow he had knocked up as Jason and Peter closed the distance between him and the gorilla. The arrow slid itself into the gorillas neck as Jason stabbed it several times in the stomach.

Peter raised the steel pipe and whacked the creature on the head knocking its head clean of. Wow! I was not expecting that!

This team was really efficient. This had all happened within a matter of 5 seconds. They all gathered around the gorillas body.

"Do you want to share it Mark?" Jason asked.

"No, you eat it. Your going to need it's strength."

"Thanks." Jason and Mark were both borrowers while Peter was an auxiliary. Eating any meat from horrors was enough to increase their strength.

Jason stabbed the gorilla in the chest. He moved the dagger around and cut its chest open and brought out the heart. He ate its heart.

I had just found out a few hours ago that you didn't have to eat the entire body to gain strength. All you had to do was eat either the heart, brain or somewhere where there was a lot of Hyoksi gathered around.

We all waited around 10 minutes for him to eat the heart and then finally we left. We continued on our way stopping every once in a while. These people were experts as they easily dealt with monsters. Monsters were stronger than creatures by quite a gap and yet they were able to do it easily.

I don't know if I will be able to defeat monsters as i still had not given it a try but it seemed like it was easy. They made it look easy and i was pretty sure that i could take care of it with ease.

We finally reached the destination that we were headed towards. We finally reached a huge body of water. It was a lake filled with creatures and monsters alike. The sun was setting so we decided to camp near the ocean for the night.

I placed the baggage down and they removed and set up 2 large tents. The tent was so large that several people would be able to sleep inside.

Mark and Jason went into their own tent while Peter and I shared a tent. As soon as I stepped into the tent my mind was blown away. The tent was larger on the inside. It had several metres of space, a pillar and even two queen sized beds. It also had a small space which was reserved just for cooking.

Peter made food for everyone and we all ate it outside. As we were eating they decided to strike a conversation with me.

"So where are you from Jason?" Mark asked.

"Nolscape..."

"I meant country wise."

"I was born and raised here in Bruvkil." I replied. Bruvkil was the name of the fictional city that I had created for my novel. There were several fictional cities that I created.

The night continued with them asking questions and striking conversation with me. I also asked them questions for example what their abilities were. They told it to me as they had seen me use tentacles. They thought it was only fair since they had seen my ability.

Jason was a hunter. He had the ability to track anything just with his scent alone like a bloodhound. He also had a camouflage and ventriloquism ability. He was also very proficient in setting up traps.

Mark had surprised due to the fact that he was a Fullion. He had a cryokinisis ability. He only used the bow and arrow because he was good at it and only used his cryokinesis when he needed to.

Peter had a healing ability just like all other healers. The only difference was that his was slightly different from other healers. If he decided to heal someone then you could see the body healing itself through logical scientific methods while most healers ability did not make any sense.

It was time to go sleep. I curled up in a futon a few metres away from Peter. The light hanging from above us was turned of and we were in the dark.

"Hey Jason..." he said.

"What?"

"What do you think will happen tomorrow?" he asked me.

"I don't know..."

"I think that I might die..." I turned to his direction and I could see his eyes glowing in the dark like a cat.

"What makes you say that?"

"We are fighting monsters on the ocean, We are land animals so they have an advantage over us in the water. I fear I might die tomorrow."

Nearly every healer was like this. They always fretted and worried since they were weak and could not rely on anyone. Even if the strongest person alive decided to protect them against a chihuahua they would still be worried.

I pulled my blanket up and sighed. "Your worrying too much... I already saw you in action. Your strong. You blew that gorillas head of with one swing. Don't worry about nothing. I'm sure the other two will protect you."

I heard him grunting in agreement. We both stayed up for quite a while before Peter spoke.

"It's about to start."

I sat up in confusion as I thought something was wrong. "What is?"

I heard a loud shout from the other tent. I stood up but Peter told me to stop.

"Why should I? They could be in danger."

"Just listen." He said. I remained silent and soon heard loud moans. I could also hear the sound of simultaneous clapping.

"DADDY!" I heard a loud moan from the other tent.

I went back to my futon and entered it.

"I bet you feel stupid." Peter said to me as he chuckled out loud. This was the first time I heard him laughing. His laugh was eerie and weird.

"Shut up!" I said as I went to sleep.
