Chapter 94 The City Of Warriors Part 30

The news of the Princess Consort's pregnancy spread like wildfire and spread throughout the palace. From every corner of the palace came whispers of the news.

Walking into the pavilion, Lan Huan saw Liling, Fang, and Bao sitting at the table doing needlework. She stopped, stared at the three women, and wondered what she should do to protect Liling and her unborn child. The last time she saw Ying, she was convinced that the assassination of Liling had something to do with Ying. This is not the first time she has experienced this situation. She and her first master experienced it once hundreds of years ago. She was envious of their luxurious life, but it wasn't until she walked the same path with the royal family that she realized that her life as an untouchable slave was not so bad, at least, no one targeted her life, when she fell asleep, she can close her eyes completely without worrying about someone hurting her.

Fang raised her head and said, "Why is Huan standing there and not coming to us?"

Liling and Bao looked at where Lan Huan was standing. Bao stood up and waved to Lan Huan. She shouted, "Huan! Come here! Why are you standing there?"  She sat down and frowned.  "I wondered when the Crown Prince will return."

Fang said sadly, "The prince didn't know that Her Highness was pregnant, before he left."

Lan Huan sighed and walked towards the three women. Lan Huan sat down beside Bao and saw the small clothes that three women were making. "What are these for?" she asked.

Bao said, " Of course this is for our little prince." She pushed the cut patterns to Lan Huan. " You should do one too."

Lan Huan looked at the fabrics and said, "I have never touched thread and needle in my life."

Liling handed the needle to Lan Huan and said, "There is always a first time."

Lan Huan said, "I'm afraid there won't be any good results."

Fang said, " I remember the first time I sewed, it didn't turn out too well."

Lan Huan took the needle from Liling and pricked her finger the first time she tried it. She watched the drop of blood on her fingertip grow bigger and bigger.

Bao laughed and said, "Don't be afraid of the needle pricking your skin, I've been pricked many times."

"But being poked too many times can leave permanent scars," Ying said, leading ten maidservants toward the group of women.

Lan Huan turned her head and saw Ying and her ten maids. "What are you doing here?" she asked.

Ying smirked and said, "Although the Princess Consort's servants don't need to obey the royal rules in front of her, it doesn't mean they can do the same to other royal family members." She turned her head and looked at Liling. "I think your servant needs to be retrained, or should I ask Empress mother to let her maid retrain your servant? Re-education may help you and your servants."

Liling said, "Thank you for your concern, but I don't think my servants need to be trained anymore."

Ying was about to speak when Lan Huan gave Ying a white look and said, "Maybe you and your maids need to receive some retraining and reeducation."

One of Ying's maids stepped forward and asked, "What do you mean by retraining and reeducation?"

Lan Huan said coldly, "Mind your own business, don't mind other people's business."

The young maid raised her hand and was about to hit Lan Huan, "You..."

Lan Huan said, "If you hit me with your hands, I will curse you. You all know that I am an untouchable being."

The young maid slowly withdrew her hand.

Ying stepped forward and said, "Then you should know that untouchables are slaves, and you must learn to shut up when your master speaks."

Lan Huan looked at Ying and said, "This servant only serves one master, and that master is not you."

Ying asked for trouble, and said, "If you have the courage, say it again so that everyone here can hear it."

Lan Huan said, "I've said it before, and I'll say it again, my master is the Princess Consort, and I will only obey her orders."

Ying said, "So you mean, even if Emperor father asks you to do something, you will refuse?"

Lan Huan said, "Your Emperor father is not my master, his orders are for you to obey. I will only obey my master's orders."

Ying looked at Lan Huan, then at Liling. "Very well, I will remember." After she finished speaking, she turned around and left with the maids.

Fang grabbed Lan Huan's arm and said, "You shouldn't say this in front of Concubine Si, sooner or later she will use your words to cause trouble for you and Her Highness."

Bao stood up and grabbed Lan Huan's shoulder. "I can't believe that you dare to talk to Concubine Si like that," she said, looking down at Lan Huan with a smile.

Lan Huan said, " I'm telling the truth...except for Princess Consort, I will not obey anyone's orders, unless Princess Consort orders me to do so."

A maid ran to the backyard. Panting, she knelt down in front of Liling. "It's not good, Princess Consort, it's not good." The maid said loudly. "His Royal Highness... His Highness..."

Liling stood up and walked to the panicked maid. "What's wrong with Crown Prince?" She looked down at the little maid and asked.

The maid got up and said, "I heard that His Highness and the other royals entered Skull Forest. His Highness whereabouts are unknown."

Liling suddenly felt her body tremble and lost her balance. Bao and Fang quickly grabbed Liling before she fell backward.  "I've heard that anyone who entered Skull Forest will never come out..." she sobbed. "How shall we save His Highness and his men when they have ridden hundreds of miles from us?"  She looked at her maids sadly.  "Bao prepares a bag for me.  I will go after His Highness."

Bao said, "Your Highness, please think again.  You are currently pregnant. Leaving the safety of the palace will jeopardize your life and the life of the unborn prince or princess."

Liling said, "If Jianjun doesn't live to see our child, what's the use of this pregnancy."

"Bao is right," Lan Huan said, looking at Liling.  "Tell me where this place is, and I will go rescue the Crown Prince."

Fang said worriedly, "You alone are not enough to save His Highness and His Highness's men."

Lan Huan said, "Or would you rather that Her Highness go?"

Liling said, "Thousands of people disappeared once they entered Skull Forest. I know you have great abilities, but you alone cannot save them all."

Lan Huan said, "As long as you tell me, I will do my best to save His Highness. I don't need to save everyone." She knelt in front of Liling. "Master, please issue an order to save your loved one."

Liling did not want to believe that a weak girl like Lan Huan could turn the tide, but at the same time she also wanted to know the safety of Jianjun, so she sighed, "As your master, I order you to protect His Highness at all costs."

Lan Huan smiled and said, "This humbly salve obey willingly."

That afternoon, Lan Huan packed a small bag and left a letter with a medallion on the table.  She left the palace without telling Liling and was heading from Magior City towards Skull Forest.

When it was dinner time, Lan Huan did not eat with Liling and the other two maids as usual, so Liling sent Bao to go get Lan Huan. Bao stood in front of Lan Huan's room and knocked on the door twice. When no one answered the door, she opened it, trying to make a sound to wake Lan Huan up. But when she walked into Lan Huan's room, Bao saw a letter addressed to Liling on the small table, and Lan Huan was not in the room. She picked up the letter and hurried back to Liling.

"Your Highness," Bao said and ran towards Liling and Fang.

Liling, who had already sat at the table, turned around and asked, "What's wrong with you?"

Bao handed the letter to Liling and said, "There is no one in her room. Did she leave by herself to save His Highness?"

Liling took the letter, read it, and returned it to Bao. She took the golden medallion from the envelope and put it on. "Huan wrote in the letter to wear this golden medallion until she returns," she said, looking at her two maids.

Fang said, "Since Huan is not here, we have to be careful."

The gray horse carrying Lan Huan ran against the wind as the sun set. Lan Huan has been travelling for more than five days, and her horse has barely stopped resting. The sky was getting dark, and she saw the blazing fire ahead. She spurred her horse toward the burning flames.

When Lan Huan arrived, she found that the people resting on the roadside were all men wearing white robes. The men stared at her, and she stared at them, riding her gray horse slowly down the road.  She thinks the men are mute because they haven't greeted her since they spotted her, so she doesn't take the initiative to greet them.

"The next big city from here should be Magior," she heard a man say.

Hearing the name of this city, Lan Huan quickly gave way to the speaker. As she approached the two men who were conversing, she slowed her horse because she wanted to know whether these men were friends or enemies.

Lan Huan stared at the two handsome young men wearing body armor. She stopped her horse in front of the two men. She asked deliberately, "I heard one of you mention Magior city.  Why do you want to go there?"

"Because we heard that Magior has some of the most talented and beautiful women in this land." Haneul looked up at Lan Huan with a warm smile on his face.
