As the time for afternoon classes drew near, Alexis proceeded towards Class 36. However, just as he was nearing the classroom, he found himself unexpectedly intercepted by two individuals who blocked his path.
Turning around, Alexis found himself face to face with the two individuals blocking his way. To his surprise, both of them were girls. One of them possessed a cute and lovely appearance, standing at approximately 1.54 meters tall. She was adorned in branded clothing, radiating an air of elegance that hinted at her privileged background.
Alexis immediately recognized the girl as Aurora Petalheight, a fellow classmate. She was known as a "white rich beauty," someone who came from a wealthy background and held herself in high regard. Aurora had a reputation for rarely interacting with other students in the class, including Alexis himself.
The other girl exuded a striking beauty, captivating in her cold and alluring demeanor. She donned a white blouse that accentuated her generous curves, suggesting she was at least a D cup, and paired it with form-fitting jeans that showcased her slender legs. Completing her ensemble, she wore white sneakers, adding a touch of casual elegance to her overall appearance.
Alexis instantly recognized the person before him as Evangeline Shadowvale, the class monitor of Class 36 and widely regarded as the "Campus Belle." Renowned for her exceptional popularity among students, Evangeline not only excelled academically but also possessed remarkable skills in martial arts. Her talents and beauty attracted a multitude of admirers, making her the object of affection for numerous individuals within the school.
Simultaneously, Evangeline and Alexis had known each other since their childhood days and had been neighbors for as long as they could remember. They were considered childhood sweethearts, having grown up alongside each other and sharing a close bond from their early years.
"Alexis, I heard that you're planning to challenge Drake Malvern on the Fighting Arena?" Evangeline directed her gaze at Alexis, her tone filled with curiosity.
Alexis nodded affirmatively. "Yes, that's correct," he replied.
"Why did you agree to fight against Drake Malvern?" Evangeline inquired, her curiosity evident in her questioning tone.
Evangeline fixed her gaze on Alexis, her expression filled with seriousness. "Do you understand that Drake Malvern is not someone to be taken lightly? He has reached Fifth Level of Martial Disciple Realm, possessing innate divine strength. It is rumored that he has also mastered the intermediate martial technique, <Thunderous Bear Fist>, and his combat abilities are so formidable that he can even rival Sixth Level of Martial Disciple Realm."
"Now, considering that you are currently at Third Level of Martial Disciple Realm, do you truly intend to face defeat at the hands of Drake Malvern on the Fighting Arena?" Evangeline questioned, her tone laced with concern. "Why not consider surrendering and relinquishing this foolish duel? It would be wiser to avoid such a potentially one-sided confrontation."
"You don't understand," Alexis responded, his voice resolute.
Alexis maintained his composure as he calmly replied, "Evangeline, you misunderstand. This is not about succumbing to someone's provocation or acting recklessly. There are principles and reasons that drive my decision. I have my own path to pursue, and I won't retreat simply because it appears challenging or perilous."
"You know very well that you can't possibly match up to Drake Malvern's strength. Going up to the Fighting Arena would only result in being beaten up. Why are you doing this? Is it just for the sake of pride?"
Alexis locked eyes with Evangeline, his expression unwavering. "It's not merely about pride or proving myself," he emphasized. "There are personal obstacles that I must confront and overcome, both internally and externally. By challenging someone who surpasses me in strength, I can push my limits and forge a path towards greater strength. This is about personal growth, unwavering determination, and the relentless pursuit of strength. I am fully aware of the risks involved, but I firmly believe that facing challenges head-on is the only way to truly improve. It may be difficult to comprehend, but this is a choice I've made for my own reasons."
"Even if going up to the Fighting Arena won't result in death, if you end up being seriously injured by Drake Malvern, you'll require urgent medical attention, and the associated expenses won't be negligible. Are you willing to add to the burden of your parents?"
Evangeline was well aware of Alexis's family background, understanding that they were of modest means. She recognized that even the medical expenses incurred from a single incident could potentially pose a substantial financial burden for them.
"Men are like this, always trying to show off even when they have no abilities and are clearly not a match for others. Such people are not called brave, they are called foolish"
Aurora regarded Alexis with disdain, her gaze filled with contempt. In her eyes, he appeared utterly devoid of any real abilities, yet he persistently attempted to impress others. Men like him were the ones she despised the most, and she struggled to comprehend why her best friend would care about someone like Alexis.
"Regardless, please refrain from meddling in my affairs. I am fully aware of my actions and their consequences," Alexis dismissed with a wave of his hand, striding past Evangeline and continuing towards the classroom.
Unbeknownst to Evangeline, Alexis had undergone a remarkable transformation. Through the acquisition and cultivation of the Pure Yang Indestructible Technique, his martial prowess had ascended to the Fourth Level of Martial Disciple Realm. Additionally, his complete mastery of the Five Forms Fist had bestowed upon him immense power and skill. He had surpassed the point of being merely capable and had become more than capable of overpowering someone like Drake Malvern.
Alexis understood that there was no need to openly disclose his accomplishments to others, as it would be challenging for them to believe or comprehend the extent of his transformation. It was wiser to let his actions speak for themselves and demonstrate his strength through tangible results. By showcasing his newfound power through concrete achievements, he would leave no room for doubt or skepticism.
"Alexis!" Evangeline called out, her gaze fixed on his retreating figure. Despite her anger and frustration, she realized that she couldn't stop him from pursuing his chosen path. Her emotions were visibly stirred, and her anger was evident in her expression.
Aurora let out a contemptuous snort and remarked, "Evangeline, why bother wasting your energy on this guy? Let him face the consequences himself when he gets defeated by Drake Malvern and requires urgent medical treatment. Only then will he understand the extent of his foolishness." Her words were laced with a mix of disdain and satisfaction, seemingly convinced that Alexis's actions would lead to his downfall.
"But if he gets seriously injured, how am I going to explain it to uncle and aunt (Alexis's parents)?" Evangeline lamented, feeling troubled by the prospect of having to face Alexis's parents and explain the situation. The responsibility and potential repercussions weighed heavily on her mind, intensifying her sense of concern and worry.
Aurora waved her hand dismissively. "What is there to explain? You've already given him your advice, but if he chooses not to heed it, what more can we do? Is he expecting us to physically restrain him from making his own decisions, as if he were about to jump off a building?" Her words carried a tinge of frustration and resignation, indicating that she believed Alexis was fully responsible for his choices and the consequences that might follow.
"Alright, it has reached this point, and there is no turning back," Evangeline said with a sense of helplessness. Both Alexis and Drake Malvern had made their decisions to go up to the Fighting Arena, and news of the impending duel had spread throughout the entire school. At this stage, even if they wanted to retract their choices, it was already too late. The dye had been cast, and they would have to face the consequences of their actions.
"Alright, alright, it's almost time for class. This matter doesn't concern us directly, so let's not dwell on it here. Let's go inside quickly," Aurora said, taking hold of Evangeline's arm and guiding her towards the classroom. Recognizing the need to prioritize their studies and put aside their concerns for the moment, they hastened their steps to join their classmates.
At that precise moment, Alexis entered the classroom as well.
Whoosh, Whoosh, Whoosh!!!
All eyes in the classroom fixated on Alexis, filled with a mixture of curiosity, confusion, and disbelief. The news of his decision to challenge Drake Malvern on the Fighting Arena had spread, and now his classmates were eager to witness the outcome of this audacious endeavor.
Whispers and murmurs circulated among the students, discussing the upcoming duel and pondering Alexis's motives and chances of success.
The reputation of Drake Malvern as a ruthless and formidable figure within the school was widely known among the students. He had established himself as a little tyrant, instilling fear and commanding respect from all who crossed his path. It was unheard of for anyone to dare provoke him, let alone openly challenge him to a duel.
The audacity and courage displayed by Alexis in challenging such a prominent figure ignited a mixture of awe, intrigue, and apprehension among his classmates.
The sudden and dramatic actions of Alexis puzzled his classmates. As an average student with mediocre grades and minimal presence in the class, his decision to challenge Drake Malvern was unexpected and attention-grabbing.
It seemed completely out of character, leaving everyone curious about his motivations and the underlying reasons behind his bold move. Speculations and theories circulated among the students, as they tried to unravel the mystery behind Alexis's sudden transformation and daring ambition.
"Hey Alexis, I heard you're thinking about having a duel with Drake Malvern. Do you believe you have a good chance of winning?" inquired a male classmate.
The guy named Nord, who was standing beside him, mocked Alexis by saying, "I am a top student with ambitions to enter Lumina University, and my martial arts skills are formidable. Drake Malvern is nothing compared to me. I bet I could take him down with just one hand."
He glanced at Alexis with a smirk on his face, and it was evident to everyone that he was being sarcastic.
Upon hearing his sarcastic remark, many classmates burst into laughter, as if they were witnessing a comedic scene. All eyes turned towards Alexis, the center of attention in that amusing moment.
"Alright, alright, everyone, let's not make fun of our fellow student, Alexis."
Orion Lux stood up, adopting a righteous demeanor, and spoke, "Challenging Drake Malvern requires significant courage. Just possessing that level of bravery deserves respect. Personally, I don't have that kind of boldness, and I can't help but feel inferior when comparing myself to Alexis in this regard."
The rest of the classmates couldn't help but chuckle even louder. The atmosphere was filled with amusement and light-hearted banter at the situation.
"Is it difficult for all of you to accept?"
Alexis shot a sidelong glance at Nord and Orion Lux, observing their reactions to the situation. His expression was unreadable, as he seemed to be contemplating the dynamics of the moment.
"Accepting my ass!!"
Nord stepped forward, taking a confrontational stance, and said, "As a person, it's essential not to overestimate yourself. Understanding your own limitations is crucial. You're actually planning to enter Lumina University and defeat Drake Malvern? Who do you think you are?!" His tone was challenging, questioning Alexis's audacity and qualifications for such ambitious goals.
"You're merely at Third Level of Martial Disciple Realm, an ordinary student striving to get into a third-rate university. Yet, you dare to indulge in such daydreams here? Wake up! A salted fish won't be able to flip itself over!" Nord's taunting words were meant to belittle Alexis's abilities, comparing him to a helpless fish incapable of making significant changes in his circumstances.
"Whether I can get into Lumina University or defeat Drake Malvern is none of your damn business. Mind your own business, you busybodies," Alexis retorted firmly, expressing his disdain for their interference and asserting his right to pursue his goals without their judgment.
Alexis waved his hand dismissively, showing his disinterest in paying any further attention to those individuals. He chose to disregard their remarks and focus on his own path without getting entangled in unnecessary confrontations.
Observing Alexis's persistent arrogance, Nord's frustration reached its peak. He couldn't comprehend why Alexis was so infuriating, treating him like a mere joke and taunting him relentlessly. Nord found Alexis's behavior utterly despicable and beneath contempt.
His eyes lit up with a sly smile as he said, "Since you're so confident, do you dare to make a bet with us?"
"Make a bet?" Alexis stared back at Nord, seemingly intrigued by the proposition.
Nord laid out the terms of the bet, his tone daring and provocative. "That's right. If you lose, you have to strip and run three laps around the school. And if we lose, we'll do the same. Do you have the guts to bet with us?!" he challenged Alexis, seeking to push him into accepting the wager and proving his courage.
Alexis responded with a hint of skepticism, looking at Orion Lux and Nord. "Are you sure it's okay? I remember both of you have some physical deficiencies, and if you strip, people might mistake you for girls," he remarked, expressing genuine concern while cleverly taunting them back about their supposed shortcomings.
"I couldn't care less about your concerns!"
"Who the hell has any physical deficiencies? We are not impotent, and that thing is not so small that others would mistake it for being non-existent. You, bastard, stop spreading strange rumors here."
Orion Lux and Nord were both infuriated, feeling almost half-dead from the injustice. Even their noses were twisted with anger. This bastard is too much; he keeps saying baseless things. What if he actually makes other classmates believe it?
