The Twins

"Your late James." The blonde-haired kid with black almond eyes and freckles around his nose said looking at James annoyed.

"Sorry, Sorry but it was for good reasons!" James said as he continued to drag me inside.

"And is the person behind you one of them?" The other guy with black hair and eyes asked.

"Yes, and you will never guess who he is." He said excitedly and from then on, he started reciting his whole day to when he met me…..

'Why do I have to listen to this again' I thought to myself as he started rambling.

'Stupid Dad, I swear I'll pay you back for this!!'

After a while of listening to James talk, I was finally able to sit on the bench away from the starry eyes of the two guys who were tennis player fanatics. I was questioned for over ten minutes by Sam, the blondie, and Peter the black-haired kid. After that it turned into James bragging about how his father knew mine so I decided to walk away while he was still talking and sit at the empty bench away from the noise.

Well, that's what I thought I would do but then the twins walked up to me. They looked so similar yet so different at the same time. They both had long black hair that went down to their waist with light green eyes and they even had a mole on the right side of their lips. The only difference was that one of them was bubbly and happy while the other looked more to herself and quiet.

The bubbly twin stood on the left and the quiet one stood on the right.

"Wow your eyes are really pretty," The bubbly girl said with a smile. I looked at her and smiled a bit.

"Thank you" I replied to which she smiled. "My name is Amanda and this is my sister Ava." She said as her sister just looked at me and waved."

"My name is Erin" I replied to which Amanda looked at me excitedly.

"I don't know much about sports or tennis since I don't care too much about them but we saw you on the news yesterday! You stand out so much." She said as she bounced around happily.

'Whats with me and meeting overly excited people today.' I thought while watching Amanda bounce around.

"Amanda calm down a bit you're going to scare him away too." Ava finally talked as she grabbed a hold of Amanda's arm.

"Sorry, did I scare you, it's just that I've never seen people with two different colored eyes before," She said as she finally calmed down and started pouting.

I smiled wryly as I watched the interaction. Something stuck out to me as she talked though.

'Only my eyes?' I thought but didn't voice my thoughts.

"It's fine," I said. Both of the twins sat down next to me after that and soon we just started talking about random things. Well mostly Amanda talking, me responding and Ava sitting there listening to us while watching Sam, Peter, and James as they started playing tennis.

For a while, it was just Amanda asking me about my interests and things until Ava finally spoke.

"Erin, are you also going to the academy after you turn 15?" She asked to which I looked at her confused. "Academy? I don't think I am, I haven't heard of it before" I replied to her.

"Really?"Amanda replied to which I shook my head. "You should go as well it's going to be so fun!" She replied excitedly.

"I want to play tennis so I don't see the point of it" I shrugged at her suggestion.

"That makes it even better!" Amanda replied.

"How so?" I asked them.

"It's a huge tennis-based academy that focuses a lot on those that want to play tennis. Especially if you're really talented at it. Just like for Tennis Pros, there's a ranking system in play there as well. Every month the players can challenge those in the ranks and if they win, they take that person's ranking but if they don't, they won't be able to participate in any official competitions or matches for that year." Ava replied this time.

I looked at her surprised as this was the first time she said something this long but my attention was back to what she said.

'Wow, that sounds brutal' I thought listening to what she said.

"If you think that's harsh you should go to the academy and try it out for yourself, it's way harsher than what I said," Ava said and then smiled a little but it was quickly replaced with a neutral look.

'She smiled..' I thought while keeping my eyes on her.

"How do you know so much Ava" I asked her.

"Well, unlike Amanda who doesn't care much about tennis, I happen to be a fan of it." She replied.

"Who's your favorite tennis player?" I asked.

'Is it going to be my dad again?' I thought while waiting for her answer.

"Chris Dames" She replied to which I looked at her surprised.

"Not Sean Ryans," I asked her to which she shook her head.

"You two look like your having fun all by yourselves over there" Amanda butted in. We both looked at her and she sat there pouting.

'Compared to Ava, Amanda is an expressive person huh' I thought as I watched as Ava started calming her down. As Ava was doing that I started thinking about what she had said about the academy. It took a while of Ava talking to her and offering to get some snacks for her to finally calm Amanda down.

"If the academy is a tennis-based school how come you two are going?" I asked them to which Amanda stood up excitedly.

"It was at first but Dad told us that they were going to add more classes so more people can start joining and not just Tennis Players," Amanda said. "I'm going to become a chef and start my own restaurant and one of the things that they'll add are cooking classes" Amanda added to which I nodded and looked over at Ava.

"I'm going to become a tennis player," Ava responded.

'Makes sense' I thought.

After that, she went back to her quiet self as Amanda continued to talk and I just responded.

After a long while, everyone started leaving and it was back to just me and James again.

Thankfully it wasn't for long as he also left and I went back to the second floor.

Dad was still sitting in the same place I left him so I just walked towards him. His smile widened again as he saw me, and I started getting annoyed again.

'I will find a way to get under his skin' I thought while looking at that smile.

"So how was it" He asked me to which I shrugged and sat back in the booth.

"It was all right, I met some others there," I replied to him as he smiled. "My son is growing up and making his own friends now."He said to which I just rolled my eyes.

"It's your fault," I muttered and of course, he heard it and leaned closer.

"Whats my fault?" He asked.

"When I went with James I met four people in there. Two guys and two girls." I said to which he just shrugged.

"I helped you make friends what's wrong with that." He replied. "The girls were twins," I added to which he just looked at me.

He put his hand on my shoulder and just smiled. "Don't mess this up ok Erin. I don't want a random girl coming to our house just because you kissed her twin." He said.

I removed his hand and just looked at him deadpanned "Unlike you I can actually tell twins apart." I replied.

"You don't know that for sure, I said the same thing, and look at what happened to me" He added and then shuddered.

"That was on you, they were fraternal." I said to which he just crossed his arms and muttered "Agree to Disagree."
