A Shift

"AND HE'S DONE IT AGAIN, ANTHONY REINS CLOSES OUT THE FIRST SET WITH A 6-0 LEAD." The commentator's voice echoed through the stadium, accompanied by the deafening roar of the crowd.

"Anthony Reins had once again showcased his dominance on the court, closing out the first set without having Adam retaliate not once throughout the whole time". The commentator continued.

"It might just be another one-sided win again for Anthony. It seems like after Anthony started to take this game seriously it's been a one-sided beat-down for Adam." He added as the stadium's cheers started to die down a little.

Indeed, Anthony had fully asserted his dominance in the first set. The whole first set was Anthony using his powerful serves and returns making sure Adam wasn't able to return any of them.

Yet it wasn't that he couldn't, it just seemed as if he didn't want to. There were times when Adam did return the ball and he didn't seem to struggle with the power being used by Anthony.

Anthony knew this as well but he didn't have time to worry about it as he watched Adam's smile widen. Ever since the first time he heard him mutter interesting repeatedly, he had always been keeping an eye on him.

There were three sets for this match and Anthony won the first one. He wanted to quickly win the second one as well that way Adam wouldn't get the chance to get through whatever plan he wanted to get through.

After a five-minute break, the second set started, and it was Adam's turn to serve this time.

Adam stared at the ball for a while then looked up and made eye contact with Anthony for a moment before raising his racket to serve.

Adam started off with a spin serve, using the head of his tennis racket to brush underneath the ball lightly in order to impart heavy topspin. His movements were precise and smooth, allowing him to strike the ball with just the right amount of force and spin necessary to send the ball spinning with topspin.

As the ball traveled through the air, the heavy topspin caused it to rise and bounce higher than expected, thus making it more difficult for Anthony to return the ball.

Anthony managed to hit the ball but it hit the tennis net and bounced on his side giving Adam the point. This turn of events caused many of the once-disappointed fans to become hyped again, as they didn't want their money's worth on this match.

And they were right to become hyped again as they watched Anthony as he hit the net multiple times and netted Adam multiple points.

Anthony's frustration grows with each mistake and it's evident that he is struggling to return Adam's serves effectively. Adam's smile widens as he watches Anthony become more flustered, knowing that everything is going his way.

It was then that a change had occurred on the court.

Adam got into a return position this time around and seemed more focused on the match than before. Anthony was getting ready to serve this time trying not to let the sudden change in Adam's demeanor affect him, but it was hard not to considering his condition at the moment. He had overexerted himself by going all out during the first set. Especially with him using powerful serves back to back to back.

Anthony was getting exhausted and he wanted to end this fast so he could catch his breath.

He once again served, but Adam responded by returning the ball away from Anthony and making him chase it. By the time Anthony got to the ball, Adam was already waiting by the net and hit the ball to the opposite side not giving Anthony time to respond.

Anthony watched the ball bounce near the wall and then looked back at Adam while calming himself down.

"Took you long enough don't you think," Adam said examining Anthony's arms and legs while he stood there. His smile only widened into a sadistic one as he watched Anthony look at him confused.

"What are y-" Anthony started but was soon stopped as the deafening sounds of the stadium got louder and louder.

"WHAT A CHANGE IN EVENT, LADIES AND GENTLEMEN" The commentator began.

As soon as the cheering started Adam looked around at the stadium before turning back at walking back to his spot.

Anthony wanted to question the guy but he wanted to finish the match first before he could think about anything else. He retrieved another ball before getting ready to serve again.

*****

"Ah Shit" Anthony muttered as he froze for a split second as Adam returned another ball to the opposite side of him again.

"AND THERE IT IS EVERYONE. I DON'T KNOW HOW HE DID IT BUT ADAM SEIGE HAS JUST TAKEN BACK THE SECOND SET." The commentator began as the stadium's cheers reached new heights.

Adam had managed to take back the second set and even managed to stop Anthony from scoring even once.

For the whole second set Anthony was chasing after the ball and not once was he able to return it successfully without it backfiring. What made it even worse for him was the fact that he was getting tired from the chase.

Just now even though others didn't notice, Adam most definitely did. Anthony was worn out and had a cramp in his leg. He couldn't go on anymore yet Adam wasn't going to say anything about it.

"It seems like the plan worked" Adam muttered to himself as they switched sides again before starting the final set.

Looking over at Anthony, Adam could tell that he was trying to hold his exhaustion in. He was tired, that much was true but the look in his eyes.

Adam smiled for a second before that smile disappeared and all that was left was a neutral expression.
