Beauty and the Beast [A modern day tale]

There once was a powerful Prince who ruled the business world with no heart. Everything he wanted he took. One day a cleaning girl getting his home ready for a party caught his eye. Could someone so simple thaw his hear and turn the beast into a man? He quickly turned. He picked up a vase and threw it. He stormed down stairs. "Who is in charge?" he roared. Bella stood up, "I am sir, my name is Bella Beauté, what can I help you with?" She held out her hand. He stared at it but could not take in, "It is improper to sit out in front of my home and have a picnic. There is a park down the road eat there." "I do apologize sir. We will do that from now on. Is there anything else?" Bella tried to keep calm. With out a word he stormed back into his home. There was still 40 minutes for lunch so they packed up their lunch and headed to the park. From the window he watched the little girl drive away. 'Bella Beauté... Beauté is french for beauty and she was a beauty.' [The book is also full of fairytales Bella loves to read]

Bella woke the next morning. Her wounds looked better and just a little sore.

She headed to work today they had four rooms left and one was the rose room only she was allowed in.

They set off to complete the last three bedroom. Working hard as a group.

Zane was over the moon at being able to see his beauty. He frowned at how hard she was working.

He then wondered what her dress would be like for the party. She would look beautiful in anything.

At noon he showed up just as the group was leaving to eat.

"Can you stay here Miss Beauté I'll make sure you eat." He asked.

"Sure, go have your lunch and be back here by one. We need to have this done today." She told her coworkers.

He leds Bella to the garden where lunch is already sitting out.

"I was wondering what color of dress your wearing to the party Wednesday?" He asked.

She was surprised at his question. "I'm not going."

"Why? I asked your father to bring you. He is the only employee I granted an extra person to come." He was hurt again at her rejection.

"My sister Babs has friends going and asked to go in my place. I could not say no. Besides I have nothing to really wear and my face is still full of scabs."

He slams his hand down making the table jump and causing a tea cup to crash to the ground. "I wanted you there!"

Bella is taken back. Why was he doing this? "I apologize, I am sorry but I can't take it back. Plus I would have no fun at something like that."

"Then what do you like?" He calmed down.

"Simple things really, walks in the park, playing with animals, helping the elderly, reading book." She said.

"How much can I pay you to be my date then, I'll provide the dress." he asked.

Bella shook her head. "Money can not buy me, sorry I'm not that kind of girl."

"I need to get back to work it's almost one." She stands and moves into the house.

He was right she's not like those other women just after Money and power.

But how to get her... that afternoon he called his mother. As she listened to him she became furious. How would a cleaning girl capture her son's heart. She had to put a stop to this and make sure his engagement was announced soon.

"Son don't do anything right now, girls like that are only playing hard to get. Tell her father to bring all his children. Rent them cloths too. Then show up with Heather on your arm, it will make her jealous and she will then be putty in your hands." She says.

She knew that once this girl sees the match of Heather and her son, she will leave him alone.

Zane watched through the cameras Bella finished off all the rooms. Tomorrow will be the last day. He once again called Mr. Beauté in to tell him to bring all his family and handed him a check for five thousand to get what they need. He also warned him if Bella did not come the this would be the last week he would work at this company.

That night he told his family the good news. He had already rented three tuxedos.

"Bella get a dress and put the rest away." Her father said.

Once again she pulls out her mothers dress and gets to work on changing it into a beautiful gown. The money that was left she would put away for a rainy day.

As she puts the finishing touches she picks up her book. Opening to the bookmark.

Beauty dressed herself; and in the mean time they sent to her sisters, who hasted thither with their husbands. They were both of them very unhappy.

The eldest had married a gentleman, extremely handsome indeed, but so fond of his own person, that he was full of nothing but his own dear self, and neglected his wife.

The second had married a man of wit, but he only made use of it to plague and torment every body, and his wife most of all.

Beauty's sisters sickened with envy, when they saw her dressed like a Princess, and more beautiful than ever; nor could all her obliging affectionate behaviour stifle their jealousy, which was ready to burst when she told them how happy she was.

They went down into the garden to vent it in tears; and said one to the other, "In what is this little creature better than us, that she should be so much happier?"

"Sister, said the eldest, a thought just strikes my mind; let us endeavour to detain her above a week, and perhaps the silly monster will be so enraged at her for breaking her word, that he will devour her."

"Right, sister, answered the other, therefore we must shew her as much kindness as possible."

After they had taken this resolution, they went up, and behaved so affectionately to their sister, that poor Beauty wept for joy. When the week was expired, they cried and tore their hair, and seemed so sorry to part with her, that she promised to stay a week longer.

In the mean time, Beauty could not help reflecting on herself for the uneasiness she was likely to cause poor Beast, whom she sincerely loved, and really longed to see again.

The tenth night she spent at her father's, she dreamed she was in the palace garden, and that she saw Beast extended on the grass-plot, who seemed just expiring, and, in a dying voice, reproached her with her ingratitude.

Beauty started out of her sleep and bursting into tears, "Am not I very wicked, (said she) to act so unkindly to Beast, that has studied so much to please me in every thing? Is it his fault that he is so ugly, and has so little sense? He is kind and good, and that is sufficient.
