First Pot

Kevin put down the rock he was fiddling with to help Reid with the bowls.

Reid now empty handed, looked at Hao Shen with confusion, he saw that Hao Shen had wanted to carry the bowl, 'but why did he stop and carried the sea shell instead', but then again looking at Hao Shen's skinny arms and legs, he could not help but feel sympathy for the frail beastman 'i mean with how frail he is, I doubt that any female would like him, aside from his skills as a witch doctor, their is nothing else he could do'.

Kevin went back to making the lid after putting down the bowl, Hao Shen's eyes followed him, upon seeing that Kevin was doing it correctly, he stopped looking at him and went ahead to do other things.

Hao Shen went to stack up the woods that Reid had brought back, after he was done stacking them up, he went to grab the gas lighter in his backpack. Hao Shen used the lighter to light up the stacked up woods, therefore making a bonfire.

After he was done with that he took the ingredients he had already prepared and washed them, before soaking them in some water.

Kevin had finished making the lid, what was left was for him to make a hollow in the pot. Hao Shen grabbed a burning wood out of the bonfire and extinguished the fire on it. There was now a coal on it that he could use to draw an outline for Kevin.

Using the coal, Hao Shen carefully made a circle on the pot, after he was done he looked at Kevin "you see this line, I want you to carve on it with your nails", Hao Shen watched as Kevin used his nails and redrew the circle.

Hao Shen waited for Kevin to finish before carefully instructing him , he wasn't sure that this would work after all forming the hollow is supposed to be the hardest part of making the pot.

Taking a deep breath while arranging his thoughts, Hao Shen spoke with caution, "listen to me carefully, I need you to scoop out all the rocks within this circle, and while scooping the rocks out, try your very best to be as close to the outer layer of the rock, use the outline you just carved to know how close you need to get. Please be very very careful, don't puncture or pierce underneath the rock, do the same all over the rock, remember don't pierce through the rock". Adding emphasis on his last sentence "DO.. YOU.. UNDERSTAND..".

Kevin saw the seriousness Hao Shen was showing, he also got serious, and nodded assuringly as he started with the task.

Hao Shen saw that Kevin was taking it seriously and was glad.. but, Kevin was too slow in digging into the pot, seeing that the pot was big enough for two beast men to dig in, Hao Shen called Reid "go and do what Kevin is doing, don't act rashly and don't break the rock, be very careful, if the rock ends up broken, then your female wouldn't be able to get her medication".

Hearing that his female wouldn't be treated, Reid payed attention to not make any mistake as he assisted Kevin.

Hao Shen sat down and watched them work.

Hao Shen had stated to feel sleepy and was even dozing off when they finish digging into the pot, on seeing that Hao Shen had fallen asleep, Kevin was reluctant to wake Hao Shen up, he didn't understand what Hao Shen was doing, he knew Hao Shen was no witch doctor, but he had been playing along with him this whole time, now that Hao Shen was sleepy Kevin just wanted to take him to the cave to rest.

But Reid had absolutely no intentions to let Hao Shen sleep, he genuinely believed Hao Shen was a witch doctor, and although he hadn't seen Vince try to treat any female like this, he believed that all witch doctors had their own methods, especially after seeing how confident Hao Shen was, it also made him confident that his female would most definitely be saved.

Reid didn't care about Kevin's reluctance and yelled to get Hao Shen to wake up "hey witch doctor, we are done digging a hole in the rock, when are we saving my female". His yell was so loud that Hao Shen fell from were he was sitting, Kevin glared at Reid who only scratched his neck feeling guilty, Hao Shen heard Reid clearly and groggily got off the floor, walking to the finished pot.

To Hao Shen's surprise, the pot came out without any mistakes, it was rather smooth inside, and their were no holes. He looked at Kevin in surprise, "This is perfect, have you guys made something like this before?". Kevin that was glaring at Reid for waking Hao Shen up, stopped glaring at Reid and replied with a shake of his head "No".

Hao Shen nodded, after the initial surprise passed Hao Shen was now fully awake, he asked Kevin to pour some water inside the pot and rinse it, removing the remnant stones and dust out of the pot.

The pot was now ready to be used, Hao Shen asked Kevin to pick up some rocks that was initially part of the pot and lay them around the bonfire, it was so that the pot will be able to stay on the bonfire.

After Kevin did that, Hao Shen asked him to place the pot on the bonfire, because of how thin they made the pot, it was easier for the pot to get hot. Hao Shen brought out the three refilled plastic bottles and poured out the water in it into the pot, before removing the soaked herbs and putting them into the pot.

When he was done putting the ingredients into the pot, he asked Kevin to cleaned the lid with water and close the pot with it. Reid was hella curious "what next" he asked Hao Shen who responded nonchalantly "we wait".

And so they all sat on the floor and waited, it had already gotten dark and after waiting for some time, Reid was beginning to feel like this witch doctor had long lost hope on his female and was just finding weird ways to waste his time, he tried being patient and sat down quietly for a while, but he could no longer take it anymore.

Just as he was about to complain Hao Shen spoke "Reid, why don't you open the pot", Reid had no choice but to swallow his words.

Although he grumbled, he didn't say anything as he was afraid of angering a witch doctor, but Reid had lost hope on this witch doctor he just hoped that Lilly's other mates had found Vince.

Just as Reid removed the lid, hot steam came out of the pot which surprised him and Kevin, Reid was wondering how a hollowed rock that had nothing but water and herbs could exude smoke, he had watched Hao Shen and all he saw him do after he asked them to close the rock was to play with the woods under the rock.

Hao Shen wasn't actually playing with the woods, he was making sure that the flame did not extinguish on its own, and he was also keeping the heat at the same temperature, so he was working the hole time.

As for Kevin all he thought was 'as expected of my female', Hao Shen stood up after most of the smoke had dissipated and when to look into the pot.

The water had turned to a brownish color and the fragrance of ginger and safflower permeated the air. he used the sea shell to scoop out some of the medicinal liquid, then he gave it to Reid, "quickly go give this to you mate, let her drink it when it's warm, come back once she's done to get Another cup, also for the time being don't let her inhale cold air, make sure to keep your house.. Er.. cave, make sure to keep the cave warm, and don't let her leave the cave. alright then go already".

After receiving the sea shell filled with medicine, Reid completely forgot about how he had doubted Hao Shen earlier and rushed back to his family's cave.
