Chapter 7

Lionark's POV.

"Kids, come with me! Quickly!" Selia said, running out of the room. We quickly followed her. She led us into a room on the first floor of the castle. She handed us each a bag.

"Inside is food, and water. It should last for 3 days. There are also some medical supplies, a map, a compass, money from each element, and a cloak. If you have decided that you want to join the Cloaked Callers, use the clasp inside your bags. Meet my friend Lilith. She lives on Misty Crystal Mountain. The map should show you the way." Selia said quickly.

A door appeared on the wall behind her and she ushered us out. "Do you know how to create weapons with your magic?" She asked. Sirena and I nodded. "Good, teach them! Now go! We can't risk you getting caught! Use the talents they have given you has an advantage." She turned around swiftly "Be careful, you're all too valuable to lose," She said, and then the door disappeared, leaving us outside.

"I think I heard a sound out here!" Someone shouted from around the corner.

We all froze and pressed ourselves against the wall. Scared. A purple mist appeared around Breezie's hands. 3 dark element guards ran by us.

"Head for the woods!" Coal shouted. We nodded in agreement and ran as fast as we can.

"There they are!!" I heard someone shout behind us. "Get them before they reach the forest!"

"Quickly!" Breezie shouted and we dove into the forest, crashing through branches, trees, and bushes.

I quickly regrew them so the soldiers would be slowed down and backed into a clearing.

A soldier emerged from the trees, covered in cuts from the plants. I waved my hand, causing a vine to wrap itself around the young soldier.

I turned around, prepared to run. But in front of us, are more soldiers. Not just any soldiers, but earth element soldiers. They quickly grew a wall of trees, blocking us from going any further.

Soon, more soldiers started to spill into the clearing.

We all stood back to back, calling out our partners. Prepared to fight, but it seems hopeless. We're being overwhelmed, 8 to 20 soldiers, not counting their partners. And there are still more soldiers in the shadows.

Breezie made a cutting motion with her hand, sending a strong gust of wind at 4 soldiers, pinning them against the ground.

"I think it's the perfect time for 2 people to teach us how to summon weapons," Coal whispering, staring down the soldier in front of him who's aiming an arrow at him.

"Just imagine what weapon you want, and summon your element, shape it into, well, the shape of it, and then grab the handle," I replied quickly.

"Don't forget that Selia said to use our talents," Breezie whispered.

"It doesn't seem like we have much of a chance though," Coal muttered.

"Hey! We have you surrounded, be quiet! We're not afraid to end one of you!" An Earth element yelled.

"On 3," I whispered, they nodded in reply.

"One..."

"Whatever your planning won't work," Another soldier yelled.

"Two..." I continued.

"We warned you!" the soldier yelled.

"Three!" I yelled leaping into action, creating an ax as Minbor flew into a young soldier, clawing at his face.

Breezie nimbly leaped over a soldier that Zalop had kicked, concentrating on creating a weapon. She leaped onto a tree, creating an illusion of herself. A soldier yelled, chopping down the illusion, but more kept appearing. An arrow flew at him, hitting his leg, he yelped in pain while clutching his leg. His partner, a badger, swiped at Zalop. Breezie leaped down from the tree and landed gracefully onto Zalop's back, aiming another arrow.

I fought with another soldier. She stabbed at me with a large dagger and turned invisible. Great. I swung my ax wildly, hoping to protect myself from the unseen enemy. I quickly glanced up to see Minbor fighting a few of our enemies partners. Snapping their necks, causing them to drop out of the sky. I looked back at my ax just as it hit something solid.

A tree.

"Hah!" The soldier yelled as she attacked me as I tried to pull the ax out of the wood. I gave up trying to remove the ax and summoned rocks, creating a rock-solid barrier.

A tunnel formed underneath me, letting me escape. I kept my hand on the dirt wall, letting it guide me. I popped up near Coal. Coal's battling 3 earth elements and 2 light elements. I jumped in to help him. I stomped my feet, a crack appearing in the earth causing one soldier to fall in before it quickly closed over him. Coal spun in a circle, shooting fire out of his fingertips. Breezie shot a gust of wind towards us, causing the fire to spread and separating some soldiers, causing them to flee in fear and defeat. After that, Sirena dosed the flames in water.

Minbor and Sactom worked together. They picked up random soldiers, dropping them from tall heights after flying away from the fight. They dodged arrows being shot at them and wasn't afraid to strike a few partners down.

Coal and I stood back to back as we used our elements to defeat our enemies. I created a bow and arrows and shot at the soldiers. Coal managed to create a fire whip and was waving it above his head, causing the enemies to fall back.

Sirena shifted into a wolf. She lept at random soldiers knocking them down. She then shifted into a tiger and she and Ezera attacked with swift motions. Sirena then shifted back into her original form and pointed her finger at a group of soldiers. A boiling jet of water shot out of her fingertips. The soldiers shrieked in pain and agony, withering on the ground.

I quickly worked to remove the trees that are blocking our way. "How do they create such large trees?" I grunted, straining to create a pathway through the thick trunks.

"Stop what you're doing!" An earth element soldier yelled at me.

"Why are you betraying your element?" I growled.

"Us betraying the earth element? They betrayed us. We were sent away, banished! So we rebelled against everyone. We have no ruler, no king, we're not welcome there!" He scowled, throwing a dagger at me. I stepped to the left, dodging it.

Suddenly, I was on the ground. I rolled away from a large paw that slammed down onto the ground. I looked up to see a large grizzly bear. It roared in my face and proceeded to try to claw me to death. I winced as claws dug into my flesh. I was suddenly swept into the air, and thrown onto the ground. Just barely missing a tree.

The grizzly loomed over me, ready to strike. Suddenly a blast of wind knocked the bear down.

"Thanks!" I called out to Breezie. She was about to reply when 2 throwing daggers flew past her. She turned around to fight her attacker. Zalop kicked and bit all the soldiers he can.

The bear was back on his paws in a flash, but this time, another bear was with him. A small black bear. I gasped as 2 sets of paws slammed down onto the ground. I summoned a pike, using the bunt end to knock down the small black bear. But I mistakenly turned my back to the grizzly. Its paws slammed down onto my back.

I struggled to regain consciousness as black began to flood my vision. I turned, struggling to fight back. Minbor shrieked and fought the black bear before it could get to me.

I was abruptly pinned down by the bear. I fought to breathe, the weight of the grizzly upon me. The weight then disappeared. I gasped for breath and tried to find out why the bear disappeared. I saw Coal whipping his firey whip at the bear, moving it away from the fight. The partner of the bear charged at Coal.

I created a wooden staff and threw it at the soldier. She tripped on the staff, tumbling into a tree. Glaring at me, she yelled "Hoal! Passive state!" The bear disappeared in a flash.

I had managed to create a hole through the trees. "Quickly! Through here!" I yelled and ducked into the tunnel. My friends quickly followed.

The soldiers tried to follow us, but they were forced back with a gust of strong wind.

Minbor grabbed me with his talons while Sactom grabbed Coal. Breezie hopped onto Zalop's back and Sirena shifted into an eagle. I watched as the ground moved beneath us and listened to the cries of fury from the soldiers.

We've been flying for a while and decided to land.

"That was long," I groaned, rubbing my probably bruised shoulders.

"At least Minbor didn't try to run you into trees," Coal exclaimed, shaking out leaves from his dark hair.

"That was fun to watch," Breezie snorted as Zalop fell asleep next to her. "I don't think I'll be able to sit down though, I've been sitting for the past... hours?"

"Consider yourselves lucky. I had to fly myself the whole time," Sirena said, still in her eagle form.

"Do you think we've lost them?" Coal asked.

"Can you check?" I asked Sirena.

Sighing, Sirena spread her golden eagle wings and took flight again.

We dug through our bags. Breezie's checking the map, Coal's eating, and I'm just sitting here, trying to relax. I leaned against Minbor while staring up at the sky.

We all turned around when we heard the sound of beating wings.

"They're a few miles away, and still hacking at bushes and trees. But... you saw the grizzly, right? Apparently, he's an excellent tracker and is following our scent, I don't know how though. Since we flew. And they also have a few birds following us, see, those 3 hawks up there? They're their partners." Siren reported, pointing up.

"Should we shoot them down?" Breezie asked, summoning her bows and arrows, "I can easily take them down," She aimed up.

"No, they don't know that we know that they're their partners, we can trick them to follow an illusion of ourselves," Sirena said thoughtfully.

"Good idea!!!" Coal exclaimed.

"Thanks," Replied Sirena.

"How far can you make an illusion?" I asked Breezie who's standing next to a snoozing Zalop.

"I don't know, pretty far I think," She answered.

"So how about this. We can hide in the bushes while Breezie makes an illusion of ourselves. I'll create a tunnel underground and we'll go through it. My illusion will also create a tunnel going the opposite direction and they'll go into it. Then we will close both tunnels and go in opposite directions. And they'll follow our illusions direction. Going in the opposite direction of us. The real us." I whispered to them.

Breezie nodded, "We'll it in the morning, at the crack of dawn."

"Why so early?" Coal whined.

"Because we don't know how early they wake up, and we should rest now. They're pretty far behind. It's almost sundown. Go to sleep," Sirena replied calmly "I'll take first watch."
