A Stepbrother's Troubles

5

I looked up to see Stephen, dressed in pajamas, watching us from the second floor's hallway.

I hurriedly got up, flustered.

The person under me curled up with a muffled groan.

I returned to my original position.

"It hurts..." Zachary's voice was low and hoarse, tinged with suppressed agony.

I blushed thoroughly.

After saying that, he put his arm around my waist and got up.

"S-Stephen, just now, I-I accidentally tripped and fell on Zach..." I explained stammeringly upon getting to my feet.

Zachary chuckled in my ear. "My dad isn't wearing glasses. He definitely can't see clearly."

I wasn't sure if Stephen saw clearly, but our movements were so loud that my mother also awoke.

They both looked down at us from above.

Only when they approached did I notice they seemed exceedingly unhappy.

Stephen said in a grave tone, "Zachary, you are free to go out to play, but don't take your sister with you!"

This was my first time coming home so late.
