Chapter 29: Having Lunch Together

"Choose a car instead." The thought of this little girl riding a motorcycle and zooming through the streets made John's heart race with fear. He would give her anything, but when it comes to her safety, he had to draw the line.

Diana sulked. She was underestimated. She vowed to show off her skills in front of John one day and make him acknowledge her abilities.

Ethan drove and quickly arrived at their destination. As soon as they got out of the car, Diana was stunned by the impressive entrance in front of her.

"The Cuisine Tower? I know this place!" she exclaimed. Her oldest brother Andrew had mentioned it before, and this building was famous throughout the country for its three-star chefs from various countries. Even here, they could enjoy authentic cuisine from all over the world! Diana was thrilled, "But isn't it difficult to make a reservation at a place like this? Can we just walk in?"

"Yes," John replied, feeling pleased to see her excitement. If she was happy, he was happy. Diana followed John with a curious look on her face as they walked in.

As soon as they entered, the receptionist came up to them. He seemed to not recognize John, "Sir, what is your room number for the reservation?"

Before Ethan could answer, a man with a "Manager" badge on his chest rushed over from the lobby. "Mr. Matthews, it's really you! I have the room ready for you, please follow me!" The manager was sincerely apologetic. He had just received a call saying that Mr. John Matthews was coming, and he thought it was a prank! He never expected it to be real. Diana looked at the manager's courteous manner and was curious about John. Was his status so high that he could easily get his way everywhere he went?

The two of them followed the manager and went to the top floor private room. As soon as they entered, they saw a huge round table with a row of waiters in uniform standing neatly behind it, each holding a large plate of various dishes. The rich aroma of food hit Diana's nose, making her mouth water. She exclaimed, "So many dishes!"

John replied calmly, "Order whatever you like and they will bring it to us."

What?! They were ordering on the spot? Diana had never seen anything like this before. It was beyond her imagination.

"Can I order now?"

"Yes." John's face softened as he watched Diana fidget with excitement. She was so adorable.

"Then I'll have this row, and these..." There were too many dishes to choose from, each one looking more tempting than the last. Diana eagerly pointed to the row closest to her and happily sat down at the table. If her stomach could hold it, she would have eaten everything!

After the waitress brought all the dishes that Diana had ordered, she left gradually. As soon as the door was closed, Diana abandoned her image management and eagerly dragged a large chicken leg into her bowl, starting to eat heartily. It was just like a gust of wind swept over, and the chicken leg was reduced to a bone in an instant. She then took a piece of steak and started to chew, but she felt something was not right.

Diana turned her head and looked at John, who was sitting next to her. He was quietly watching her, motionless. Diana was confused, wondering why he wasn't eating. Did he feel unhappy because she was only thinking of herself and hadn't considered him? Ah, this childish man is really difficult to serve. With this thought, Diana nodded to herself and hesitated for a moment before placing a piece of ribs she had just prepared to put into her own mouth in front of John. "Here, have some too."

As soon as she made this move, the people in the room were all shocked. The manager was astonished. Who is this girl? Isn't it rumored that Mr. Matthews is not interested in women, and that he might be gay? Who started these rumors!

Ethan was very angry. He knew that in boss's eyes, hygiene was crucial, and he wouldn't even look at something that had been touched by someone else. Diana, this idiot, actually gave the boss the food that she wanted to eat! John's phoenix eyes were difficult to read, and he looked at the girl beside him, seemingly wanting to read her mind.

Diana was eating vigorously when she suddenly sensed a hot gaze on her. She turned her head and met John's deep gaze, and her heart skipped a beat. What was wrong? Did he think she wasn't doing enough? Diana resigned herself to looking at the shrimp she had just peeled, and with a determined heart, she handed him the shrimp meat. "Here, I just peeled it." Diana took back her hand while speaking, but her gaze was reluctant to leave the shrimp meat.

Oh my God! Her brothers had always peeled the shrimp for her, so she didn't really know how to do it. After finally managing to peel one, John had to notice it. He should be pleased now, right?

Ethan couldn't help himself and started, "Boss, I..." but John raised his hand to stop him.

Diana was about to peel another shrimp for herself when she noticed an extra piece of shrimp in her bowl. Did John give back the piece of shrimp he took earlier? Then, she saw John put on a disposable glove and pick up a nearby shrimp. "Let me peel it for you," he said.

Huh? Diana was stunned. Did she misunderstand him earlier? She suddenly felt ashamed and embarrassed for assuming the worst of him. However, he seemed so cold and distant, could he really be peeling shrimp? She expressed her doubts, but just as she was about to speak, John seamlessly placed a newly peeled shrimp in her bowl, with grace and elegance. It was an ordinary gesture, but he made it seem so exquisite.

"Are you not hungry?" Diana, after taking a moment to enjoy her food, asked him with concern. Seeing her happy and full made John feel content, and his gaze softened.

"No, I'm not hungry," he replied. Diana felt relieved and proceeded to happily eat more food, feeling like a happy foodie.

While Diana was enjoying her meal, the door of the private room suddenly swung open. Ehan was about to intervene when he saw who the visitor was and froze. "Mr. Getty?"

"Hey, bro, you didn't even tell me you were coming to my turf. Do you look down on me as a friend or what?" Frank burst in wearing a black t-shirt, with an enthusiastic expression on his face. However, his smile quickly froze when he noticed the girl sitting next to John. He took a sharp breath. John actually had a woman with him?! As he looked closer, he realized that he recognized her.

"Is that... Diana?" Frank thought in disbelief. "How is this even possible? How could these two people be together here, having a meal? Has the world gone wrong?"

Diana heard the noise and lifted her head from her bowl. When she saw the visitor, she almost spat out her food. Frank!? Damn it, it was this nasty man! Frank was John's childhood friend, and their relationship had always been tight. But his personality was the complete opposite of John's; he always had a tasteless appearance, with a hint of flashy green dyed into his hair. If it weren't for his handsome face, he would have looked completely ridiculous.

Frank was unlike the typical rich kids. He didn't follow the conventional path and instead pursued esports, disdaining the boredom of university. He went on to win numerous awards and eventually founded a well-known esports club, becoming its boss. However, that's not the main point. The crux of the matter is that this despicable man, Frank, detests Diana to a great degree! Among the many people who oppose John marrying her, his voice is the loudest. He finds fault in every aspect of Diana, from her toes to her hair.

To make matters worse, he has been trying to introduce women to John, believing that any woman is better than Diana. From the first meeting, the two of them clashed and have been at odds ever since. Now, Frank looks incredulous as he stares at Diana. He exclaims, "No way! It's you, the rude one!"

Diana is so angry that she's breathing fire through her nostrils. She slams the table and rolls her eyes, stuffing the food in her mouth. "What the hell! You green-haired chicken!"

"Who are you calling a green-haired chicken? Don't you have any sense of aesthetics...?" Frank pauses, sensing something is off. "Holy crap? Diana, did you change genders? Why are you dressed...normally?!" He had only ever seen her before looking like a wild chicken, and now she suddenly changed her appearance. It's kind of...dazzling.

Frank quickly shakes his head. No, he won't admit that this clueless person stunned him!
