Accident

After releasing a deep breath, Lu Meili gave up thinking and decided to take action to find what she was looking for. 

Lu Meili looked at the dark cloudy sky that continued to rain dejectedly.

Rumble!

Boom!

The forest was muddy and unsafe to move around due to the thunder that rained down on the whole place.

She knew this from the start, and this is exactly what Lu Meili needed.

It was just upsetting for her that she still needed to look for her red pendant because otherwise, Lu Meili had already set up her transportation talisman and activated it.

'I will just have it on standby.' With that in mind, Lu Meili grabbed the yellow paper from her bag and chanted a little before sticking it on her back, inverted.

Once that's done, Lu Meili stood from the branch of the tree that she was sitting on and scanned her surroundings.

The shifters were not far from here, and there were other beasts inside the forest. If these beasts could withstand the never-ending rain and thunder, that only meant that she could not let her guard down.

"Lulu. Scan for my pendant discreetly." after she said that, her bracelet brightened unlike how lulu scanned for his mate last time.

Lu Meili would need to start her search on the way she came from. However, that also meant she needed to get close to the shifters again, and a fight might be inevitable.

"They were asking for it. Don't blame me for more broken bones." She whispered with a smirk, before jumping from the tree branch to skillfully land on the next tree.

"Alert! Enemies are close." Lulu signaled. The moment the NanoGen spoke through Lu Meili's earrings, she immediately saw shadows moving towards her to attack!

Slash!

Blaze!

Lu Meili dodged the flame coming to her way, but she was not able to get away from a pair of scaled arms aiming to stop her in her tracks.

She was grabbed by a shifter who gave off stronger magical energy. Lu Meili was facing his naked chest which made her uncomfortable.

'Wait, is he using sleeping magic? On me?' Lu Meili realized that the man was using sleeping magic on her.

This made Lu Meili smirk and decide to take it easy on the shifter. However, before she could get away, she noticed another shifter near her about to attack from behind with killing intent.

"Do you think you can dodge us?!" Lou Mary screamed in anger with her face showing the outline of her dragon scales. Her now yellow eyes were glaring at her with contempt. Lou Mary prepared her claws aiming at Lu Meili heart.

However, before Lou Mary's claw reached Lu Meili heart, she had already disappeared from the other shifter's hold.

"How could you?!" Screamed the shifter that was helping her corner Lu Meili when Lou Mary's claws stabbed the other's heart instead.

Injured, the shifter glared at Lou Mary with who was also dumbfounded to what happened. Before Lou Mary could realize it, her companion had already died in her hands.

"I do not know the exact reason why you killed your people, but it really should not be tolerated." Lu Meili commented not far from Lou Mary, who now stiffened.

Lou Mary had already calmed down from the adrenaline of the hunt and realized the severity of the situation. She looked at the fellow shifter's corpse that was now on the dirty forest floor with a terrified expression. 'They will execute me…'

Killing a comrade, accident or not, once done would still require punishment equal to death!

"Too bad, he looks young and strong. Why does he only have scales on his arms?" Lu Meili suddenly spoke next to Lou Mary. On her hand, a small white orb was brightly lit.

"Ah! This was all your fault!" Lou Mary finally snapped and got back to attacking Lu Meili.

With a raised brow, "My fault? How could it be my fault?" Lu Meili asked with a smirk at Lou Mary tauntingly.

Lu Meili was busy dodging and could have already left, but the expression on the Lou Mary's face when she accidentally killed her comrade made her curious.

Lou Mary's attacks were getting faster. In the shifter's mind, by killing Lu Meili, she would be able to keep herself from being executed. It was now a battle between life and death! 

It would be straightforward for Long Jun to deduce what happened if she was not able to cover it up with Lu Meili's death.

They were dispersed into pairs, and the one she'd just accidentally killed was her designated partner. The meeting point was on the top of the mountain, the trail that they were supposed to cover was also predetermined.

However, how could she now face everyone when her partner died at her hands?
