Darrell looked startled but still didn't forget what his parents and Melissa had told him.

He went forth out of the shabby looking house and ran as fast as his legs could carry him, he soon starts hearing noises, he looked up behind him and saw the strange birds flying towards him, his heart beats really fast as he reaches for his pocket to search for the mistletoe but he couldn't find it, he became so scared but kept on running, wondering where he was going to, cause he kept taking every right path until he spots a blue ocean that looked quite strange, there were a lot of mermaids and mermen swimming in different areas of the ocean the strange birds were approaching Darrell really fast and it made him even more scared.

"Hey! Come on," Said a merman to Darrell.

"But I can't swim," Darrell replied.

That was one of Darrell's biggest fear, the water, there was a time he was pushed into his school's swimming pool when he was in Los Angeles by some of his coursemates, and he almost lost his life but luckily for him, he was taken to the hospital from then hence forth he hated swimming.

"You have to hurry, here eat this seaweed it will make you breathe under water," the merman said and gave Darrell an awkwardly looking seaweed.

"It looks disgusting," Darrell said avoiding the sight of the seaweed.

"Yes, but it's your only chance" the merman said still giving Darrell, the seaweed.

Darrell took the seaweed from the merman and eats the seaweed, his face turned green as he felt like he was going to throw up, but he tried to ignore the taste and jumped into the water before the birds could get to him.

Inside the water the merman finds refuge for Darrell at his kingdom, called Menesia.

"Why were those fire birds after you?" the merman asked

"I really don't know," Darrell replied.

"I see, well you will be safe here for a while," the merman replied.

"Thanks, my name is Darrell what's yours?" Darrell asked politely.

"Pontius," the merman replied.

Pontius has a silver white fin with blue scales, he also wore a gold bracelet on his upper right arm. He has two set of green eyes a pointed nose, a little moustache right above two pouted pink lips.

A lot of sea creatures passed by, such as an octopus, sea turtles, prawns, and small fishes etc.

Everywhere looked so beautiful, lots of flowers and seashells were used to decorate the whole kingdom. Mermaids swimed by and waved to Darrell some even smiled at him.

"Wow! This place really looks amazing," Darrell said admiring the whole scene.

"Thank you Darrell, but I'm sure yours is better," Pontius replied.

A young mermaid came towards them and bowed slightly at Pontius.

"Pontius the queen is looking for you," The mermaid said to Pontius.

"Okay Anala, let's go Darrell," Pontius said as he moved forward.

The three swims towards the palace, on their way they pass by other mermen and they bowed at the sight of Pontius, soon they reached the palace which is even more beautiful than the other surroundings in the ocean.

"Mother, you sent for me,"

Pontius said to his mother as soon as they entered the palace.

Everywhere in the palace was decorated with gold, the throne in which the queen was seated on was also made of gold.

The queen is seated on her throne, she was talking to other mermaids when Pontius walked in.

"Yes Pontius I want you to..."

She said and paused the minute she sees Darrell, she looked surprised. "And who is this?"

The queen asked Pontius. Pointing her hand to the direction Darrell was standing.

"Mom this is Darrell, he was been chased by fire birds so I rescued him and brought him here,"

Pontius replied.

"Good day ma'am,"

Darrell greeted politely and moved forward a bit.

"Good day son,"

The queen replied with a smile on her face.

The queen had a silver blue fin with sparkling white scales, her eyes were green in colour, her white hair was long enough to cover her bosom. She was also holding a golden trident on her right hand.

"I do not mean any trouble but only came to find refuge in your kingdom, if you will accommodate me for the short time I will stay here," Darrell said with his head bowed down.

"Of course, I would never refuse, especially a Cassel," The queen said to Darrell.

Darrell couldn't believe his ears "how did she know?" he thought to himself.

"Anala!" The queen called.

"Yes my queen," Anala replied with a bow.

"Please leave us," The queen said

Anala a very beautiful young mermaid with a yellow fin, white shining scales and a black hair long enough to cover her bosom. bows down and leaves the scene.

"My son will take you to your room, you shall have your dinner and your rest, it is quite late for you to leave," The queen said to Darrell.

"Thank you ma'am,"

Darrell said and bows down.

"Pontius take him to the dinner table so he could have his meal and afterwards take him to his room to rest," said the queen.

"Yes mother, I will do just thatt," Pontius replied and bowed down.

And then Pontius takes Darrell out of the scene, the queen comes down from her throne and went to her room, then she sat down on her bed and stayed deep in thoughts. And soon Pontius returns to his mother's room.

"Mother! I'm sorry for the disturbance" Pontius said as he got to the room.

"What is it son?" the queen which her name is Thalia asked jerking out of her thoughts

"Mother he is now asleep,"

Pontius said to his mother.

"Watch after him Pontius and take care of him, he reminds me of an old friend" the queen replied without looking at Pontius.

"Okay mother I will do as you wish," Pontius replied and also leaves the scene.
