Chapter 6: Martial Arts

And after forming my rationale I immediately clicked it revealing another section.

[ {Martial Arts} - {Breathing}:

{Dragon Breathing}:

Cost: 7MP

Dragon Breathing embodies the majestic and fearsome power of the dragon, a symbol of authority and mastery in Chinese culture. This breathing technique focuses on channeling Qi throughout the entire body in a controlled yet potent manner. Practitioners of Dragon Breathing can enhance their physical strength and unleash powerful bursts of energy, mimicking the dragon's ability to dominate the skies and command the elements. It also aids in cultivating an imposing presence, allowing the user to intimidate opponents and assert dominance in battle.

{Tiger Breathing}:

Cost: 7MP

Inspired by the raw power and agility of the tiger, this breathing style is designed for aggressive and relentless combat. Tiger Breathing emphasizes rapid, forceful inhalations and exhalations that boost the practitioner's muscular strength and reflexes. This technique allows the user to deliver powerful, decisive strikes with the ferocity of a tiger. Additionally, it sharpens the practitioner's instincts, enabling them to react quickly to threats and overpower enemies with brute force and precision.

{Tortoise Breathing}:

Cost: 7MP

Tortoise Breathing is based on the wisdom and longevity associated with the tortoise in Daoist philosophy. This breathing technique focuses on deep, slow breaths that promote inner calm and endurance. Practitioners use Tortoise Breathing to cultivate a steady flow of Qi, which enhances their defensive capabilities and overall resilience. The technique also allows the user to conserve energy during prolonged battles, making them impervious to exhaustion and capable of outlasting their opponents. In addition, it provides a layer of mental clarity, aiding in strategic thinking and patient decision-making in combat.

{Eagle Breathing}:

Cost: 7MP

This breathing technique mimics the sharp focus and precision of an eagle. Practitioners use this style to heighten their senses, improving their ability to detect Qi fluctuations and anticipate enemy movements. It also sharpens mental clarity, allowing for better decision-making in combat.

{Wolf Breathing}:

Cost: 7MP

Inspired by the ferocity and pack mentality of wolves, this technique focuses on short, intense breaths that flood the body with energy. It's designed to boost strength and speed in short bursts, perfect for quick, decisive attacks. The practitioner can also sense the Qi of allies, making it easier to coordinate in group battles.

{Lotus Breathing}:

Cost: 7MP

This technique is centered around deep, rhythmic breathing that promotes inner peace and balance. It allows the practitioner to cultivate Qi more efficiently, promoting healing and long-term endurance in battle. The Lotus Breathing also helps in controlling emotions, keeping the mind clear and focused under pressure.

{Phoenix Breathing}:

Cost: 7MP

Drawing inspiration from the mythical phoenix, this breathing style focuses on rejuvenation and resilience. Practitioners use this technique to recover quickly from injuries and fatigue, allowing them to sustain long battles. The Phoenix Breathing also enhances the user's Qi regeneration, making them more formidable as the fight drags on.

{Serpent Breathing}:

Cost: 7MP

This breathing method is based on the smooth, controlled movements of a serpent. It emphasizes stealth and agility, allowing the practitioner to move with fluid grace and strike with lethal precision. Serpent Breathing also helps in channeling Qi through narrow pathways, making the practitioner adept at dodging and counterattacks.

{Mountain Breathing}:

Cost: 7MP

Modeled after the enduring strength of mountains, this breathing style emphasizes deep, slow breaths that ground the practitioner. It enhances physical and mental resilience, making them impervious to fear and psychological attacks. Mountain Breathing also increases the user's stability in combat, making them harder to knock down or push back.

{Storm Breathing}:

Cost: 7MP

This technique captures the chaotic energy of a storm. Practitioners use it to channel their Qi into rapid, powerful bursts, overwhelming opponents with speed and ferocity. It also allows for quick changes in direction and strategy, making it difficult for enemies to predict their next move.

]

Ohhhh, so it's that kind of breathing technique. I thought it was just a breathing technique for gathering qi but it seems like they also provide enhancement.

If my understanding is correct then a Breathing Technique is primarily used to accumulate, circulate, and harness Qi, which then supplements other martial techniques, such as Offensive, Defensive, or Maneuvering Techniques.

However, having a Breathing Technique alone doesn't eliminate the need for other martial arts.

Take Tiger Breathing as an example—while it gives you explosive strength, your strikes will still be unrefined and lacking in precision without an Offensive Technique like Tiger Fist.

Tiger Fist provides a structured approach to combat, refining your attacks and making them more ferocious.

In essence, Breathing Techniques lay the foundation for Qi manipulation, circulation, and utilization, while also giving specific enhancements depending on the type of breathing.

They are designed to work in harmony with other techniques, creating a balanced and effective martial practice.

If you are confused with Breathing Technique and Qi Cultivation and Manipulation.

Qi Cultivation and Manipulation involve gathering and controlling internal Qi over time to build long-term power and precision, as seen in practices like meditative cultivation for increased Qi reserves, while Breathing Techniques focus on managing Qi flow in real-time to enhance physical and mental capabilities during combat, such as Tiger Breathing for explosive strength; together, they function synergistically to maximize effectiveness in battle, with cultivation providing the raw energy and manipulation needed for powerful techniques, and breathing techniques optimizing its immediate application.

To better understand it in simpler terms. Qi Cultivation is used when not in combat while Breathing is used in combat.

Now the question remains. What breathing technique should I pick?

All of them are powerful. But if I were to pick, then I think the most suitable breathing technique would be Phoenix Breathing technique.

I can compensate with other aspects with martial arts, like I can just purchase an offensive technique in the martial store if my power is lacking but in terms of regeneration it would be hard to find something to fill in with that.

So the best choice is Phoenix Breathing. I can regenerate while mid-combat which is very important since martial artists get injured all the time.

"I'll pick Phoenix Breathing." I said and clicked the panel.

Immediately the barebone knowledge of the breathing technique surged into my mind like a raging river ragaving my brain.

GRUNT

My knees fell down on the wooden floor as my hand reached out to grasp my head. It was painful.
