Chapter 19 : Compensation

The moment Xiao Lie and Xiao Yunhai felt the pressure emitting from Alex's body, they quickly retrieved there spiritual senses which were trying to pry on the cultivation of the young man.

'Th-This boy is a genuine Emperor Level Expert!!' they both thought simultaneously.

Seeing that the two of them understood what they were dealing with, Alex removed the pressure from them.

Both Xiao Lie and Xiao Yunhai stood up from their seats and cupped their hands as Xiao Yunhai spoke with evident fear in his voice, " What can we help you with Young Master?"

Alex looked at Xiao Lie and said, " I have taken a liking to Xia Qingyue here. And I have come to know that she's already engaged to your 'grandson'. She's destined to achieve greatness in this life and being with your grandson will only hinder her growth. She also does not desire to be with your grandson."

"Thus, we would like to call off the engagement."

Xiao Lie who understood what Alex had and looked at Xia Hongyi with a questioning look, as if asking whether or not it's true. 

Xia Hongyi who felt Xiao Lie's eyes just looked away with a feeling of regret.

Xiao Lie felt betrayed after seeing Xia Hongyi trying to avoid his questioning look. Meaning that he also agreed with what the young man had just said.

Xiao Lie looked at Alex, and said while still cupping his hands," Young Master, this engagement was decided by my son and , Xiao Ying, who helped the Xia family in time of their need. Does the Xia family wishes to disregard their help and also agrees to cancel this engagement? Isn't this disrespectful to my son's spirit in heaven?"

Xiao Lie's words were carefully curated as he tried to stir up the emotions in Xia Hongyi's heart so that he may stand by his side.

Alex understood the meaning behind those words and frowned a bit as he spoke," Old man, don't try to twist your words."

Alex wanted to continue but before that, he looked at Xiao Yunhai and said, "You go and wait outside!."

Xiao Yunhai, not wanting to anger Alex, just said , " Yes, Young Master!!" and went out of the hall readily.

Alex then looked at Xiao Lie and said, "Do you really think that I don't know about the truth behind your so called 'grandson'?"

As soon as Xiao Lie heard those words, his body went numb and a chill ran up to his spine.

'H- He couldn't possibly know about that could he?'

"Young Master, what do you mean by that?" asked Xiao Lie, feigning ignorance, hoping what he was thinking doesn't come to be.

Alex just sighed and said, " Do not pretend old man, I know that Xiao Che is not your biological grandson. And don't even try to deny it, lest you want to have your blood tested with his."

Xiao Lie was utterly shocked, his face went pale. The secret that he had been hiding from everybody had come out.

"Ho-How do you know about that?!"

Alex looked at Xiao Lie who was just shocked at his words. 

Meanwhile, Xia Hongyi and Xia Qingyue who now knew that Alex's words about Xiao Che were true, did not feel guilty anymore.

Alex just calmly replied, "How I know about that isn't your place to ask. All you need to know is that I will be providing compensation to you for breaking this engagement. I am not as unreasonable as I seem to be."

"I will offer you three things as compensation. The first is 1 kg Purple Veined Divine Crystal, it will be enough for you to reach the peak of the Emperor Realm. The second is that I will bring back your biological child to you. The third is that I will take your daughter as my disciple."

"Is this enough as a compensation?"

After listening to what Alex was going to give as a compensation, Xiao Lie's jaw dropped.

Purple Veined Divine Crystal? This was something that only the sacred grounds and the large empires possessed. Any cultivator couldn't even dream of this without having a top level authority in those sacred grounds.

This was simply similar to placing a golden apple in the hands of a beggar who never even tasted an apple.

And the second and the third ones made him feel more and more tempted to agree with Alex, but he controlled himself and tried to negotiate with Alex.

"Young Master, rather than the 1kg Purple Veined Divine Crystal, could you please help in curing my grandson instead."

Alex was surprised by the old man's selflessness but still flatly refused, "That is not something I am capable of."

Of course he lied. He had many ways to cure Yun Che. But he wanted to see if Yun Che would still get reborn even after him messing around this much.

He had decided to not kill Yun Che after all, he wasn't going to be a threat to Alex anyways.

Moreover, having him go around the other continents to gather the Heavenly Profound Treasures and then taking it from him felt much more suitable.

"Now tell me. Do you accept the compensation."

Xiao Lie just nodded as he said, " I accept it , Young Master."

Xiao Lie knew that this much was already too much as a compensation. Moreover, his daughter gaining an Emperor Realm cultivator as her teacher would secure her future as well and he would also have a good connection with Alex.

Alex smiled at that and said, "Very well. I will come and take away Xiao Lingxi after 2 months."

"For now, just go and announce that Xia Family has cancelled the engagement and has paid enough compensation."

Xiao Lie nodded and went out with a heavy heart, knowing that his grandson might be broken from this, but there's nothing that he could do in front of Alex.

Alex then looked at Xia Qingyue and said, "Get ready Qingyue. We are going to leave in some time. I need to train you as well."

Xia Qingyue just nodded at Alex.

Xia Hongyi just sighed at everything that had just conspired but did not say anything.
