Chapter 30

After it seem like a lot of time passed by, I awoke because of a loud noise from my surroundings. As I begin to open my eyes, I feel tied to something. I couldn't move. My whole body, tied to a chair. And in front of me, Ivan, wrecking our furnitures, from the cheapest to the most expensive, he didn't leave anything unbroken. To my shock, I look at the clock and see it's already turning dark. I mumble to myself as I realized my mouth is tied also, wrapped in a handkerchief. Then he noticed I was awake and stop what he's doing. As he walks towards me, I see his hands and clothes filled with blood and I look the wounds I had a while ago. My wounds were taken care of. As I looked back, he's already in front of me, grinning to his ears. I glare at him as I thought he was different and he laughs.

"Heh. No need to glare. I know you hate me. I guess I didn't think you'd be this naive." He says, suddenly my phone ringed a notification. "Oh look. This friend of yours said something." Who could it be?

"Anette.." He says her name and I get nervous that he might also know her. I could hear my nervous heartbeat from where I am and I get terrified.

"Hey Cherry! I'll be staying at Noah's house for a week, don't wait for me!" He says. No.. Anette.. No... Then he laughed. "This friend of yours is just as stupid as you!" And he continued laughing. I saw him fidgeting with my phone and just as I knew, he shot a text back to her.

"She wouldn't come save you, you know?" He says. He's going to say completely nonsensical things and I don't want to hear it. But being tied, makes me listen to every word he's saying. I close my eyes forcefully and look down. I won't listen! "The fact that her boyfriend already came around is a sign that she's already going to leave you. She would do anything for that boyfriend of hers you know. And you're gonna wind up all alone all over again."

No! I'm not listening! That's complete nonsense! She wouldn't! I know she wouldn't. She'll save me. She'll save me.. Anette...

My head feels so heavy. I feel like... passing out...

After a long sleep, my headache is slowly fading away as I feel half-asleep. I remember what happened and I immediate open my eyes to see a place I don't know. A lab, tables full of substances I'm not aware of and boards with computations. I have a bad feeling about this place. That's when someone entered the room. A man in a lab gown, walking towards me with a syringe in hand.

"How's your rest?" The man asks, with a mask covering half of his face. The familiar voice lingering inside my mind as I try to remember who's voice that is. It's not Ivan's voice. The strong familiarity doesn't help ease my nervousness. It just makes it worse, then a woman enters the door too. Suprised, I see the woman I saw in the cafe. The woman Ivan's avoiding.

"The stocks are already delivered. Where should we put them?" She asks, then she saw me. She shows a mocking smile as she walks pass the man and towards me. She holds my chin as she examines my face. "So this is that brat Anette's best friend? Even her friends don't know the meaning of style. Miss me?" She throws my face away with disgust. Now I know we won't get along.

"Now, now, Jennifer, we need her to lure Anette here. Then you could take care of her on your own." The man says, my eyes widened at the mention of her name. They know her.. and she's gonna get in danger.. As I try to escape, the rope just keeps on getting tighter, making it harder to escape.

"Yeah, yeah, I know. I just can't wait." She says as she chuckling mischievously. "We'll all get what we want, and every single one of them will suffer to the point they only want to die." She gives a mocking laugh.

"Don't forget the other one too" The man says.

"Yeah whatever." She walks out of the room. Leaving us alone.

"Do you know who I am?" He asks as he leans back on the table, and crossed his arms. I stay still, not moving, just glaring at him. After moments he comes close and takes the mask off along with the handkerchief tied on my mouth. To my disbelief, I gasp.

"Agent Ren!" I shout at the familiar agent in front of me. The superior I always respected and looked up to. But for some reason, I don't feel safe with him like I always did. I just feel even more nervous. "Where have you been? Where did you disappear into? Everyone's been looking for you in the agency!"

"I don't go by Agent Ren anymore, Ruby. Dave's the name now." He says, leaning back again with wry grin. "I guess Junniper hasn't told you anything about the past few months." Confused, my brow asks the question. She wouldn't keep a secret from me, would she?

"I've been the person she's been fighting off these past months. I knew she wouldn't tell you because you looked up to me so much. When I disappeared, I knew you were sad enough to stay at home for a whole week. She knows you'll feel disappointed if you found out I'm doing horrible stuff, because you always idolized me. And it just made you naive to see the truth." My heart feels like falling into a bottomless pit.

"What are you talking about..? Sir. You and Anette were a great team.. This isn't you.. You're just making stuff up.. haha don't joke around like that..." My voice already trembling, my hands shaking.

"Why would I joke around about this?" He says as he takes the syringe again and shows it to me. "In just a few days, I'll be able to make Anette mine once and for all, and you'll be helping me." He smirks. Now I know he's not the same person I looked up to in the agency. He's different now. As our conversation was ongoing, the door opened with a man walking towards us. Ivan. What is he doing here? Don't tell me. He notices I'm already conscious and slowing his pace.

"She's awake." He says. The sight of him already makes my blood boil to its extent. I couldn't accept him playing with my feelings.

"What are you doing here? Are you the one who took me to this place?" I ask, my voice full of rage and he just laughed.

"Of course I did, stupid!" He says flicking my forehead.

"I see you've met my brother already." Dave says as he sees our conversation. My jaw dropped. Suprised and full of disbelief, waves of emotions comes slapping me.

"Brother..?" I mumbled, but they still heard my question of disbelief. They stand side by side but I could barely see the resemblance. I couldn't believe it.

"Suprise" Ivan said with a smirk. Walking towards me with syringe the syringe in hand.

"No! Stop! You won't get away with this! You won't be able to touch any of us!!" I cry, as I shake, making it hard for him to prick me. His annoyed expression gives me a terrible feeling of bad luck. His other hand, held my head and pushed it to the side, making it hard for me to move a muscle. I could feel his breathe on my ear, whispering.

"We already did" He says, as he injects something to me. I feel my vision slowly blurring, could barely hear voices anymore. I think it's... taking effect...

Anette... you can do it... save us all...
