CHAPTER SEVEN: Meeting the Ice mage!

Asher's smile froze, he thought Lauren bought the phone for him without collecting any money from him, but it seems like he's going to pay for the phone.

" Alright." Asher said solemnly, he had never earned any money since he arrived on earth, Lauren had not been paying him since he had been working for her, now his debt just increased.

" Why did your face change, did you think I would give you the phone for free? I bought the phone with my money and you would have to pay me." Lauren said as she giggled.

" I heard you… I am going to pay you." Asher said, frowning.

" Good, so I want you to one last thing before you lock yourself up in your room." Lauren said.

" What's that?"

" It's kinda late so I want you to follow Toni home, or her father would just burn me down." Lauren said, Asher glanced at Toni and he nodded, agreeing to what Lauren said.

" No problem, let's go." Asher said almost immediately.

" Thank you." Toni said softly.

" I am yet to take you home." Asher said simply.

" Alright get going now." Lauren said and they both moved out of Lauren's house, heading to Toni's house. After sixteen minutes of walking nonstop, they finally reached Toni's house, he saw that Toni's house looked exactly like Lauren's, it seems people in this village built their house the same way unlike the people in the city that had different house building styles. Toni knocked the door to her house as Asher stood behind her, he remembered that Lauren told him that he should see Toni's father before leaving. The door opened a few seconds after Toni knocked, Asher saw a woman at the doorway, a very beautiful woman with blue hair, more older than Toni.

" Where have you been Toni?" The woman said as she saw Toni at the door.

" I was at Lauren's, I informed dad before I left home, didn't he tell you about it." Toni responded as she walked into her house, Asher just stood at the door, without moving in, this is his first time at someone's house and he didn't know how he is supposed to act.

" And who is this?" Toni's mom asked as she noticed Asher.

" Mom, this is Asher, Lauren's relative that came to live with Lauren for a while." Toni said, introducing Asher to her mother.

" Come in." Toni said as she pulled Asher inside the house.

" Good evening." Asher greeted.

" Good evening, how are you?" Toni's mother asked.

" I am fine, well I would be leaving now." Asher said.

" No, I would really appreciate if you had dinner with us." Toni's mother said, Asher wanted to refuse the offer immediately but he saw Toni look at him with puppy eyes and he couldn't help but agree.

" Okay." Asher added, Toni's mother led him to the dining table surrounded with five chairs.

" Have a seat, give me a second, I want to go get my husband." Toni's mother said as she walked out of the dining room, into the deeper parts of the house.

" Thank you for staying." Toni said with a bright smile that also made Asher smile.

" You are welcome." Asher responded before a man walked into the room with Toni's mother. He had black hair, broad shoulders, an handsome face, blue eyes just like Asher and he was tall.

" I heard you are Asher." The man said as he found a seat.

" Yes, I am."

" How are you?"

" I am doing great."

" I am Shawn and she's Sarah." Shawn said as he pointed to Sarah, Toni's mother.

" Nice meeting you." Shawn said and he stretched his hand across the table, towards Asher. Asher took his hand and the handshake felt like a warning instead of a greeting, Shawn's grip was so hard. Before Shawn could break the handshake, a scene appeared before Asher's eyes, he saw Shawn in a blue armor, holding a longsword as he fought against a man with wings that was floating in the air as he looked at Shawn coldly. In the vision, Asher saw Shawn release a cold and deadly aura, the air around him was frozen, like time stopped. The man that was in the sky in the vision also had a dark aura that almost brought Shawn to his knees. The man floating in the sky suddenly flew towards Shawn and he stabbed his long claws into Shawn's chest, the armor couldn't stop him, Shawn couldn't dodge as the man with wings brought Shawn's heart out of his body, the horror sent Asher out of the vision.

" Papa, you shouldn't shake hands over the table." Asher heard Toni say as the scene cleared out of his eyes, he noticed that none of them noticed his quick reverie. Although in the vision, he felt like he spent a minute but in reality, he didn't spend up to three seconds so nobody noticed except for Shawn that felt wierd that Asher didn't release his hand.

" I am sorry." Asher said as he released Shawn's hand, he could barely control his face from displaying fear and horror that the vision caused.

" Are you okay?" Shawn asked, Asher nodded in response, he looked at Shawn again, he clearly saw that his heart was removed but how was he still able to survive till now? Asher knew based on the vision that Shawn is a mage, an Ice mage but according to the magic books, mages have a body just like humans so they could die just like humans. Asher wanted to leave this place because Shawn is an ice mage and he is trying to avoid mages and witches for the time being but then… who told him that the vision is actually real? He didn't know if the vision is actually fake so he didn't believe the vision.

" Let's eat." Sarah said and they all digged into the food after Shawn prayed.

" So where are you from?" Shawn asked as they ate, Asher almost choked over his food, he didn't know how to respond.

" Well, he said that he doesn't know where he is from." Toni quickly added after a few seconds that Asher didn't respond.

" Why are you responding in his place?" Shawn asked as he stopped eating, Toni didn't respond to the question, she just avoided looking at her father.

" So Asher, where are you from?" Shawn asked again, staring intently at Asher.

" I don't know." Asher added, nonchalant as he continued to eat his food.

" You don't know?" Shawn repeated.

" Yes, I lost all my past memories." Asher responded.

" Oh, you have amnesia." Shawn said.

" Yes." Toni responded in Asher's place, Shawn shot her a look then he continued to eat his food. The meal went well and after eating, Asher made to leave the house.

" Thank you so much for the meal." Asher showed his gratitude.

" You are welcome." Sarah responded with a smile, Shawn just nodded.

" I would be leaving now." Asher announced.

" No problem." Shawn said this time, slightly smiling.

" Extend my greetings to Lauren and take care of yourself." Sarah said and she led to the Asher to the door.

" I want to escort him." Toni suddenly said as she walked towards the door.

" Really?" Sarah asked.

" Yes. I won't go to far." Toni said, now standing beside Asher, Sarah was about to retort but Shawn cut her short.

" Okay, I would be watching." Shawn said.

" How can you even do that from here?" Asher said as he laughed. How can you watch us while sitting in your house, on your couch? Asher thought.

" Don't please, I would be fine dad." Toni said, she was facepalming inwardly, can her dad just stop being overprotective.

" He is a mage." Toni said after she had turned to face Asher. Colour drained from Asher's face, fear and anxiety gripped his heart, a mage? Well this confirms the vision he had.

" Oh, okay." Asher responded and he quickly walked away from Toni's house with Toni by his side.

" He is an ice mage?" Asher asked as he walked with Toni.

" Yes, he is." Toni responded, confirming Asher's thoughts. Asher made a mental note to avoid Toni and her family because he saw how powerful Shawn looked in the vision, he knew he wasn't capable of fighting someone like that, not now. But Lauren must have known he is a mage and she should have told him but she didn't, maybe Shawn is really a good man, well he would ask Lauren when he get home.

" Asher." Toni suddenly said.

" What?"

" Wait." Toni said, Asher waited, turned around to look at her, wondering why she told him to wait.

" What do you want to say?" Asher asked but Toni didn't respond to Asher, she just looked down, fiddling with her hair.

" Toni, what's…" Before he could finish what he was saying, Toni lunged at him, wrapped her hands around his neck, brought her face closer to his face and she kissed him.
