37 New Grimoire Ability

[Congratulations.]

[Requirement met- A new grimoire ability has been unlocked.]

Jerouch's eyes perked up due to the sudden system notification, and he straight away opened the grimoire tab.

[Grimoire]

[Ability Copy]

[Ability Absorption]

[Ability merge- host can merge two or more skills of similar root or characteristics to form a skill that is more powerful than the previous skill. Host can also merge morphologies to form a greater specie or a specie that wasn't found in existence before.]

@#$

'O-oh my…' Jerouch facepalmed, and his eyes were ready to pop out.

A strange stream of energy travelled down his spine in ecstasy as dopamine spiked in his brain.

'HAHAHA!'

'HAHAHA!!'

'HAHAHAHA!!!'

A crazy series of hysteric laughter that sounded like that of a person who was about to lose his mind echoed throughout the surroundings.

The little beasts close by crept back to their holes, afraid that they would be unlucky to meet a psychotic fellow.

Jerouch was going insane as he thought of this new development and the myriad of opportunities it opened.

His craziness went on for about two minutes before he finally calmed down. Tears were even at the corner of his eyes due to the uncontrollable laughter.

Since the place was connected to the mouth of the forest, many passers-by usually trod this path.

However, due to the battle previously, many people had suspended their journey due to the wave of energy coming from the source of the battle, or so he thought.

Hence, no one was there to hear Jerouch, if not, they would've thought that some screws in his head had loosened.

'Whew.' Jerouch breathed out softly as he got a hold of himself.

With this new feature, he could eventually go past just mimicking his target's magic. He could even create more powerful skills that were stronger than the ones he copied, which would increase his element of surprise and at the same time increase his chance of surviving.

'Now, which skill do we begin with?' He thought.

He clicked on the ability merge golden panel again, and he saw the black space where he could input the skills he wanted to merge.

Jerouch had many skills that he was itching to test run. However, he was also sceptical about one thing.

If he merged those skills, would he retain the previous skills, or they would disappear afterwards?

Again, he was also wondering about the criteria the system would use for the merge to be successful. Yet, being a previous game developer, his mind was telling him to use the skills that are similar in attributes first.

[Fire arrows + fireballs.]

He chose the two skills and waited for the result.

[Merging in progress…]

[A new skill has been created- Fiery cloud.]

[Fiery cloud- a type of fire related skill. Host can create a large cloud in mid-air that frequently sends rains of fire to attack host's enemy without affecting host.]

[Duration- two minutes.]

[Cooldown- two hours.]

[Rank- C]

[Mana cost- 50]

'Hehe.' Jerouch giggled, seeing the new skill he created, and his cheeks became rosy in euphoria.

Even though there were restrictions like the duration of the skill and cooldown, he wasn't fazed at all. The skill was indeed powerful, and it was only normal if it had such restrictions in his opinion.

[Congratulations on creating your first skill.]

[+200 exp]

'Oh? Not bad.' Jerouch nodded, as he saw the new notification.

However, his mind soon sank, and his face turned a shade darker. What he feared for was now happening…

[Host has permanently lost the two skills used to create fiery cloud.]

[Does Host wish to merge other skills?]

Jerouch bit his lip and frowned as he was left in a dilemma. On one hand, he wanted powerful skills that would overwhelm his enemies quickly.

Yet, on the other hand, some skills might prove more useful in their unmerged form in some instances.

Shrugging his shoulder, he decided to put that aside and merge some old skills anyway.

'So what if I lose some skills to get stronger ones?'

[Water barrier+ Earth wall]

[A new skill has been created- Waterfall.]

[Waterfall- Host can summon a large mountain with a waterfall of high current to create a strong barrier defence.]

[Rank C]

[Mana cost- 50]

[Host has permanently lost the two skills used to create waterfall.]

Feeling satisfied with the offensive and defensive skills he just created. He breathed out softly and looked into the distance.

'Enough for now, time to catch up with these fellows.' Jerouch mumbled.

He began to travel in his twelve o'clock direction using sprint, while taking a short break occasionally.

Cold breezes that carried a heavy aura blew his hair and clashed with his face as he dashed forward.

It was noon already, yet the wind felt cold despite the scorching sun that shone brightly.

As he advanced, he noticed that no one was entering the forest. Not just that, the air also felt a bit eerie and chilly, which raised his suspicions.

Even during the previous night, he had seen flame torches in the far distance, signifying humans. Now, however, no one was to be seen, especially when they were already close to the city.

It wasn't as if he had an answer to the oddity, though.

Until he met Azel before he questioned him and see if that was a normal occurrence.

Yet, something in his mind kept telling him otherwise.
