Super Angel?

Third Person PoV

The fight between Cain and Uriel was not as flashy as one would think. There were no large darklight spears or flame dragons attacking, yet.

Both of them didn't want to cause too much destruction. This was working into Cain's hands.

Because even if Uriel tried hard enough, he couldn't do any attacks which would even harm Cain.

All the while Jeanne was having the time of her life. Gradually the battle at the ground was coming to an end.

By now only a dozen people are alive, that too with varied injuries. They had already given up on surviving.

Even they could see that Uriel was no match for Cain. Even in myths the only one with fight equally was Michael or God, not Uriel.

Uriel was sensing the despair in the humans, and it was gnawing at his conscience. How long could he ignore such despair coming from the believers?

"What happened, Uriel? Not feeling up to the task? You were being awfully determined just a little while ago."

The flame of God remained silent and continued to gather energy. Cai stopped seeing this.

'Oh! His power is rising. Does he have a hidden trump card?'

But Cain was even more surprised when Uriel's holy power didn't stop rising but soon surpassed seraph class and entered into the transcendent level.

"Uriel is a super angel?" Cain was confused, according to him only Michael was super level, when boosted by the heavens system.

Since when did heaven have another super angel. This question was bugging Cain, the changes in Uriel's appearance became prominent.

His twelve white wings were now lit on fire, his hair was now orange coloured, giving him the appearance worthy of the title flame of God.

His clothes also caught fire and now he was cloaked in a flaming coat.

"Cain, I know even now I would lose, I am not stupid enough to believe that I can beat someone who won against Thor. But listen, Cain, even if I lose, I will save them even if it is only a single person."

The excitement that came with fighting opponents at super level always was a good thing for Cain.

Now that Uriel was a super angel, this fight got even more fun. Cain forgot about how Uriel became a super angel, now all that matters is the fight.

"This may be bad from a collateral perspective but this does put a smile on my face."

Cain said and launched a liquid darklight cannon and Uriel, attempting to gauge his defence or speed.

'Does he burn stuff near him to defend or does he have explosive acceleration?'

But Cain was surprised when it was none, Uriel tanked the hit, and was bleeding badly.

"What? Ah, it must be hard controlling his power, he hasn't used his transcendent form much after all."

Cain this time again launched the liquid darklight cannon and the result was the same.

Uriel just got more badly injured. He almost looked dead. Cain was now hesitant, because if another good hit connected then Uriel may die.

'Tch, is he deliberately not defending or dodging? But why?'

"Surprised, Cain? Why am I not dodging or defending myself? Why don't you try another attack."

This time Uriel taunted Cain, even though he would get thrashed by Cain, it's his time to talk back.

"I can't kill you, you are using it against me. If I kill you it will be war and my words will be wrong. Splendid, you outwitted me. But now what, the fools down are still gonna die."

"Yes, they are going to die."

Cain was now stumped, an angel wanted their followers to die? That is something new.

This is one of the drawbacks Cain has, strong as he may be, he isn't old enough to have enough experience to outwit people like Odin or Uriel.

There is a reason why Ajuka and Falbium are considered geniuses. Ajuka could have probably seen this coming and Falbium Is too good with fighting tactics to be caught like this.

But what Uriel said and did next was something extreme, even for Cain.

"If they die by a saint's hand they go to Hell, but what if I guide them to heaven by my own hands, by God's flame?"

"Are you really going to such extreme lengths?"

Cain was now extremely solemn, he didn't expect Uriel to be this serious about the lives of the church members.

'An injured lion is more dangerous?'

Cain said cynically in his mind.

Uriel started to charge all of his power into one single flame attack. He is going to purify everything and everybody here with his flames.

That will be considered as guidance by him as he is purifying them, and even if they die, they will go to heaven as they will be technically pure.

But Cain isn't one to give up easily, if Uriel wants to play this game, he can too.

"Dying by your flames will be considered purification. Then by that principle, dying by my Darklight will be considered corruption? Well Uriel."

Uriel's mouth twitched, what Cain said was correct. The heavens system was primarily made for sacred gear.

And then later on more features were added. God being dead, they can't fine tune the system like he used to, so there are loopholes like this everywhere.

The two were staring at each other and a drop of water fell on Uriel's head, making a sizzling noise.

And rain began, yet both the angel and devil kept their eyes focused on each other.

The wind was blowing both of their hairs. By now only five people remained alive, but by now Jeanne was too tired.

And the remaining five were also on the ground, Jeanne was dragging her body to kill them through sheer hatred.

"Stop it Jeanne. That much is enough."

Cain said.

"They will be dead soon anyways. Shield yourself."

Uriel started charging up his attack. Seen from the height the two were flying. A giant rose of fire was forming with its centre being the point just below Uriel.

Cain was also ready, he raised his hand up in the air and the clouds parted, and a lance of darklight was revealed.

"This is the strongest attack I can perform without going super devil, Uriel. Try not to die."

It was true, without his Scythe, this was indeed Cain most effective attack for area of effect.

The lance hanging like the sword of damocles in the sky was enormous. Seeing from the ground it looked like a pillar of light coming from the heavens rather than a lance.

It's length was in kilometers, Cain had gone above and beyond this time. The rose of Uriel was also ready to burst.

Just then Cain saw Uriel falling to the ground. His appearance back to normal without any wings too.

And then it clicked in his mind, and Cain was disappointed and his mood dampened.

"Really Uriel? You sacrificed your strength speed, defense and almost all holy power just for this one attack, you even got Michael to get you a boost from the heavens system, and here I thought you were a genuine super angel."

Cain was at this moment the embodiment of the phrase, my disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined.

A easier way to understand will be that Uriel reduced his stat points and redistributed them to his special attack, except HP.

The rose bloomed and the lance fell to pierce it. Uriel watched the apocalyptic scene with his own eyes. Jeanne was stupefied at the scale of attacks.

Cain shielded Jeanne and Michael who had appeared at some point raised a barrier to save Uriel from his imminent death.

The clash was cataclysmic and the after effects were even more disastrous. The entire town was demolished.

Earthquakes were felt all across the country of France. Tremors reached the surrounding countries.

The only leeway was that Michael managed to hide the initial fire that rose up and the lance of light.

The observer would not know about what happened here. The dust finally settled down on the ground which was charred beyond repair.

Any kind of life will not exist on this for months or years. The crater was huge, reaching a diameter of more than ten kilometres, and its depth unknown.

Two beings just changed the geography of the world with just two attacks clashing.

Cain was still in air, watching the aftermath from high up, his darklight shield had saved Jeanne from getting reduced to cinders.

Michael was helping Uriel stand up while looking at Cain, there was no anger or negative in those eyes, just a question. Why?

Cain finally came down and looked at Michael And Uriel. Uriel was happy. Why, Cain knows exactly why?

"So you managed to purify one? I take it."

"Y-Yes!"

Cain sighed at that and looked at Michael, seeing his eyes he said

"Yeah, I know I messed up, this much was unnecessary. But I ain't gonna mop about it, it happened, probably my fault but me being sad or having regrets won't save the people. I will reincarnate them instantly if that helps."

It was completely out of Cain's expectation that Uriel would be capable of doing an attack at this level. In the first place he shouldn't be this determined to fight him off.

It was way too unpredictable to Cain, to Michael who knew his brother he knew that someday this would happen.

The stake burning of Jeanne was just the first domino, after then the past and present collided.

Before this Uriel was living in the past, regretting his decision to let the corrupt pope die.

Cain was in the present, thinking that Uriel would not hold the past grudge for this long, it has almost been a century.

In the end, Cain's miscalculation led up to this. What would have been an easy peerage grab, turned out to be an incident big enough to send waves across the entire supernatural world.

Cain went near Jeanne and told her that they were going to Hell.

"Come on Jeanne, we are going to your new home."

"Did we win?"

"No, it was a draw. He managed to purify one of the remaining five."

"Tch!"

"Save your ranting for later, we will go over this battle over in Hell, both you and me, in great detail."

Just as the two were about to teleport, Michael said something that caught the attention of Cain.

"A certain crow likes to visit a tavern in the Grand Duchy of Moscow."

Cain heard that raised his eyebrows but didn't comment much. He was surprised that Michael was willing to help him even after the debacle that had just happened.

'Maybe Michael didn't mind the corrupt church members dying. As a leader this is a good thing. He could probably say that this was a cleaning of the church and from now the believers will be much more obedient and pure.'

Who knows, being a leader for a long time, it wouldn't be surprising for Michael to be able to make cold decisions like this.

Cain simply teleported back to Hell. He really needed a good drink to relax, maybe even have an orgy.

Cain reaching his castle was greeted by Melissa. It seems Grayfia was busy with something.

"Welcome back, My Lord. Would you like to have dinner, a bath or someone?"

"A bath. Then dinner, then multiple choice."

Melissa's flirting backfired, she was very well used to having threesomes along with Vanessa, sometimes it was a foursome with Grayfia but still it was embarrassing.

"Anyways, this is the latest member of my peerage, witch of vengeance. Formerly known as the saint of Orleans."

Melissa was gaping at that introduction but quickly went back to normal, she was almost used to it by now.

Leaving the witch to his trusty maid, Cain went to find Scathach. He found her playing chess with an unexpected person, Morgan.

It seems the two liked to have little games like these.

Seeing him, Scathach looked at him. She was immediately able to tell that something was wrong. His frowning face was a dead giveaway.

"What happened?"

Morgan wasn't able to tell this but hearing Scathach say that she was also interested.

"Tomorrow me, you and Morgan will be having a very detailed discussion on the event that happened today."

"Sure, master."

Morgan said with cheek in her voice.

"And Morgan, we will also be having endurance training tonight in my room, please come after dinner."

Scathach knew what was meant by that but showed no outward reaction. Morgan as always was overjoyed at having more time to spend with her secret husband.

Alas, she would come to know later that today she won't be able to call him that.
