[ ~ Chapter • Start ~ ]
The moment they were taken to the 65th floor, most of the students, even the knights and Meld felt very terrified despite being calm.
Trapped, with possibly no way to escape other than death by falling down to the Abyss or being killed by the monsters, who would panic right here and now?
A Behemoth has been summoned on one part, and an army of hundreds of skeletal soldiers, simply named "Traum Soldiers" were summoned on the other.
Thankfully, the students were in a wide bridge that wasn't narrow, but they were at the center of the bridge, and the monsters were approaching them.
The Behemoth's menacingly slow crawl made it look like death itself was going to claim the weak-willed persons in this very floor, as it's dangerous aura immediately sent said person's into a state of panic and terror due to intimidation.
"Aah! Help, anyone!"
"We're trapped here? Damn it!"
"What are we gonna do!? We're going to die!"
These were the cries of most of the students, and while this kept going on, their classmates and several knights tried to calm them down to no avail.
The students felt hopeless, as the Traum soldiers dashed at them with the intent of slaying them. Those who were trying to run away from the Behemoth immediately realized they were getting cornered by the skeletons, too.
One certain girl, by the name of Yuka, fell on her butt dodging a sword from a Traum soldier, in fear, she wasn't able to evade a skeleton's attack.
But the strike never came, as a black haired boy with bangs covering his face came to the rescue and kicked off the head of the skeleton, before turning around to face her.
"Sonobe, are you okay? You should " He asked, lending his hand towards his classmate who accepted it without hesitation.
"Yes, and thank you, Kousuke." She replied, before trying to calm herself down.
Endou assured that she and the others would be safe, and with those she was at ease. After that, he began to fight back against the monsters.
Seeing this, Shizuku, Jugo, Taeko, Atsushi, and several other students helped him out as much as they could. Even Hajime tried to help as much as he could even with his weaknesses.
It also seemed like Kouki had begun to take control of the situation and calm most of the students and knights down, despite some students (Mao Yoshino, Shimizu Yukitoshi, and a few other more included) feeling very overwhelmed due to the intimidating aura of the Behemoth washing over them.
Daisuke Hiyama had been unconscious possibly due to that, without ever finding out the truth.
The Behemoth, seemingly tired of just walking forward to intimidate it's toys, began charging up energy from its horns and spiky protrusions.
It was at this moment that Meld and two knights prepared to open three scrolls which would release a high ranked barrier that is powerful enough to defend against anything, that was what they thought.
"Men, ready yourselves!" Meld yelled, as he and two of his knights put down the scrolls to the ground and opened them while chanting a spell.
"---- Hallowed Ground!" The three of them shouted the spell after chanting, as a large barrier appeared before the three of them.
"That's done, now let's retreat!" Meld yelled, turning around and dashing from the beam of thunder that was fired from the Behemoth.
If they hadn't casted the spell in time, they would have been destroyed, so the beam was split apart, hitting the walls on the sides instead.
Meanwhile, Satoru patted Kouki's shoulder to gain his attention.
"Kouki, you have a spell that would clear the skeleton soldiers, right?" He asked, and the Hero nodded with a smile. "Charge it now, we'll handle the monsters until you are ready to throw your spell."
Kouki, now taking a stance, began to charge up mana and chant a spell, intending not just to destroy hundreds of skeletons, but possibly also that gate which blocked their only way out.
Satoru, noticing something wrong, glanced behind him to see that the Behemoth began to run towards the after the barrier vanished.
The ground began to rumble, and the students who looked back were beginning to be horrified.
"Everyone, make way!" Endou yelled, hopping to the side as the ones fending off the skeletons done so.
"---- [Divine Might]!" Kouki yelled, sending a golden beam of light towards the massive group of monsters and turning them into dust the moment it consumed them.
The beam of light eventually reached the sealed door seconds later, breaking it down to reveal an exit they had been waiting for.
"Now, move out!" Meld yelled out, as the knights and students began to frantically leave, except for Eri, Satoru and Hajime. He noticed Daisuke Hiyama on the floor and wondered how nobody had taken him
"Nagumo. Leave, your lives matter most." Satoru spoke, as he took out a black umbrella from his coat.
"But..! I-I can still help in stalling that monster!" Nagumo said, full of determination that Satoru has never seen before.
Although Eri wanted to protest, Satoru sighed.
"Thank you for the help, but no. You'll die faster than me walking for thirty seconds. I'm not even excluding you, Eri." He replied, sending a pitying glance towards Hajime and Eri.
Although Hajime felt reluctant, the Behemoth who was too close to them suddenly raised it's paw and swiped it at the three of them.
Satoru parried the attack with his own swipe, sending the Behemoth a few feet back with some difficulty.
Hajime, pushed back by the shockwave their clash made, immediately got up and moved away from the two of them. His intention was to try and get help, and he was thankful because the
Eri was still affected, but stood her ground with the support of her staff.
"No, teacher! I will stay here to help!" She steeled herself, so that Satoru could not refuse due to her stubbornness of just sticking around with him.
Satoru was about to complain, but the Behemoth began to power up, making the two of them focus on the monster in front of them.
Eri, with her magic, began chanting her spell that would be good at stunning anybody efficiently while Satoru moved forward on about 300mph in one leap.
With a gesture, the umbrella's sharp tip pierced through the frontal cranium of the Behemoth and damaging its brain.
Feeling its damage, the Behemoth groaned in pain as it immediately tried to hit the smaller human and crush him down to the ground, yet it's magic infused paw only slammed the ground, sending a wide shockwave that shook the entire bridge.
By sheer coincidence, the students (except Daisuke and Kouki) were brought farther to the exit and the knights out of the room by the same shockwave, sending concussive waves to the weaker teenagers, even Kouki, who was stronger than all of them, almost succumbed to it as he had trouble standing up and weakly staring at the bridge in front of him.
"Kaori..... Shizuku....." He muttered, trying his best to crawl forward, however he was too weak to do so.
Eri, who was also affected by the shockwave, had her own spell redirected to her that immediately knocked her out. Without her knowing, the back of her head was hit by the rumbling ground.
"....."
Satoru, without a single comment, realized what was happening and immediately stopped the earthquake that was happening on the bridge with a slap to the ground.
"Now this is troublesome." He commented, before the Behemoth in its immense rage immediately slammed its head down, sending another shockwave that instantly destroyed the bridge in seconds.
It had sent the students, along with Satoru down to the Abyss with it. Satoru knew what to do, so he immediately gathered as much mana as he could, before creating several stone eagles with the use of transmutation and creation magic.
They destroyed any debris that might harm the students and safely caught them on their backs. Now, they were descending down to the Abyss.
Meld, not knowing that they were still alive, turned his back on the falling bridge.
"The Hero is safe, but what about his friends?" He spoke, as a feeling of dread struck his heart.
This couldn't have happened if he didn't send them here in the first place. Meld could've just sent them to fight bandits. This was his fault.
Regretfully, he turned his back towards the fallen students. He was glad that the Hero was safe, though. So that's enough.
"There's still a chance that they're alive, right?" Meld muttered, sighing under his breath. He didn't know the real capabilities of Satoru the Sage, however fear consumed the knight commander.
He really cared about those children and there was still an ember of hope inside him.
The only problem was the Hero on the floor, who was staring at the broken bridge wide-eyed.
"I.... failed.....? No, this cannot..... be...." Kouki muttered, before he was carried by two knights back up.

Author's Commentary: Edited again. -_-
Also, juggling characters is hard, and I put Daisuke Hiyama as the only one who's not falling.
Right, now what do you think of this chapter?
Extra Note:
Weapons Used by Satoru:
• The Liberator (WeaponType - Umbrella): A tall umbrella made with [Creation Magic] that is heavily optimized for close combat while still being effective in utility. Uses less magic, and has barely any spells available, but has more tools smacked inside.
• Obsidian Cane (Weapon Type - Cane): A heavily sturdy cane focused on pure blunt strikes, and made capable of conducting ki and mana and certain types of ancient magic for immensely versatile attacks.
