Ch. 1.8 City lights

For two days, Kaidan becomes busy on finalising the scanner and selling it to the military. For two days, he does not have any time to cause trouble for miles.

"Congratulations." James first word upon knowing that Kaidan closes the deal.

"Thank you! And again thank you for picking me up." Kaidan says beaming James become his designated driver since coming back.

"James, can you drop me to the company?." Kaidan requested. He wants to see how El Futuro operates on a daily basis. He wants to start to integrate himself before he can fully operate the company himself.

" Do you want your own car? I would not always be there to drive you back and fro." the man quickly offered.

"Yes, that would be helpful, Can you help me choose one?" he really ought to have one, it would help him in his daily life.

" Should I give the El Futuro for you to manage?" James questioned, making Kaidan shakes his head in refusal.

"No, I'm not yet ready." Kaidan quickly refuses, he knows his capabilities and he is not yet ready to manage his business.

All of the employees look at one another when they arrived, the higher up is walking together with a very familiar face, a face that disappeared after his alleged cheating scandal.

"All the department heads, report to the conference room, we have an impromptu meeting" Gwen's secretary called out before following her boss. She knows that Kaidan is the owner of this company and her boss is just an acting CEO.

"First, let me introduce the founder and owner of El Futuro company," Gwen said when the department heads and the administrator arrived. She wants to introduce him to them so that when he will take over his position the employees will now recognise him.

" He will take over my position after he familiarises himself, I hope that we will all help him." before giving the limelight to Kaidan.

All the people in the room applauded loudly when he stands on the front. The man they all idolized, the recluse owner of the El Futuro will be talking to them making them all giddy and excited.

" El Futuro means The Future, our future, I hope that with talent, patience and endurance we will make it grow larger than what it already is. I'm not here to command you, I'm here to encourage all of us to grow and expand our horizon. El Futuro is the leading technology company right now so help me to make sure that it would stay that way." Kaidan says earning him another applause.

The meeting is short, Kaidan just lay his rules and regulations. Then he dismissed the staffs after asking them to their confidentiality. Because of the underworld threat, he wants to stay anonymous for the time being.

"Are you going to be fine in here?" James asked before looking at Kaidan's new office. His office is an extension of the acting CEO. People would have to walk through Gwen before going to him. They did it to avoid his identity being spilt out. The staffs know that he is the true CEO but they all signed an affidavit of confidentiality. Breaking it would bring them to jail and making them pay tons of money.

"Yes. Everything is fine, I'll just bring and set up my computer and server tomorrow and I'll be ready to work."

"Just tell me if you need help on something okay," James said offering his service, Kaidan nodded before looking out of his office overlooking the whole S city.

"A penny for your thoughts?" James questioned the man lost on his mind standing beside the floor to ceiling windows.

"What would happen to me if I finished my revenge?" without looking at him, Kaidan asked, truthfully he just want to do his revenge but other than that, he doesn't have any other plan.

"You will continue to grow, produce and invent some products that the world would like. Marry someone and make a family."

"I sure hope so."

"What about you?"

"I don't know, maybe I'll continue to pursue you... Or maybe not. No one can tell, time would reveal our future. Just go with the flow." James Frank answers before going to Kaidan side to look at the city which is currently flickering with light.

"Beautiful isn't it? The lights are all lit up, twinkling in the distance."

"Yeah."

"The lights just like a star although beautiful yet so distant. Unreachable."

The two stayed standing like watching the city light, lightning one by one. They stayed in comfortable silence, comforting their loneliness in this world with the presence and company of each other. The two, although they are standing in the pinnacles of success, in the end, they are just lonely soul, looking for love.... for care... For company.

"If after five years and we haven't found any partner, let's get married," Kaidan suggested before looking at the man, the man who always on his side. The man whom he trusts the most. The man who he knows would never forsake him on the time of crisis.

"We should do that," James replied before smiling, for Kaidan to says that word, it means he had a room on Kaidan's heart even If it is just tiny. With time and care, he would nurture it to grow. He can wait... He will wait until Kaidan would be ready.
