Chapter 43 Leaving Without Telling? Not A Chance!

"Ahh.."

Sunshine past through the curtains brightening the room inside, the sun was so bright that it hurts the eye.

"My lady, wake up. The sun had risen so much, you are already late for breakfast."

Du Hexi fixed the curtain and help Hua Meili up.

With her eyes still closed, he help her fix the stray strands of her hair sticking out of her head.

Hua Meili woke up in a daze and found Du Hexi's enlarged face in front of her, he was looking at her intently.

Grabbing beside her, she found the space beside her empty.

She could tell by the cold covers that he had left her there for a long time already.

Looking at the clock situated on top of the table beside her bed, she found out that it was already 9:00 o'clock in the morning.

Standing up, she did some morning exercise and took a bath.

She changed into a cute white dress with butterfly designs surrounding the skirt, and with the help of Du Hexi, her hair was tied up into a ponytail using a hair tie with a dangling bell as a design.

Du Hexi pulled out a pair of white doll shoes with a small butterfly design on them and help her put them on.

"Do you like it, my lady?"

Looking at her reflection in the mirror, she smiled satisfied with her looks.

"Thank you, Hexi."

Hua Meili sweetly smiled.

"My lady's happiness is my happiness. This servant will do anything just to see my lady happy." Du Hexi politely bowed.

Hua Meili laughed.

"What a sweet talker."

Du Hexi stared at her for a while before giving her his usual polite smile.

"I am your Shadow."

Going downstairs, she saw everyone gathered in the living room discussing something serious.

She lifts an eyebrow walking towards them.

"Let's tell Xiao Mei your plan first."

Hua Meili heard Guo Zhongcheng say when she walked near them.

They did not notice her presence even when she was already standing behind them seeing how focused they were on their discussion.

She did not speak, she just listens.

Guo Zhongcheng was crossing his arms in front of his chest while leaning on his chair, he looked at Zhongcheng Qingren.

"I agree, we should tell her."

Zhongcheng Qingren also supported what Guo Zhongcheng said. He knew that his Boss, Hua Meili must definitely know what these people are planning.

He knew firsthand just how dangerous it is outside so he did not want for them to go out foolishly without Hua Meili knowing.

If she knew that they went out without her knowing, she would go ballistic when they leave without any explanation.

"Why do we need her permission anyway!" Lian Pian disagreed.

She was furrowing her eyebrows as she makes a stand among the group.

She does not understand why they must ask for that little slut's permission first before getting into action!

"It's only right for her to know." Mingque Shui said trying to support the 'tell her' group.

"She might get worried..." Jin Hua said with a troubled look.

He rubs his forehead not knowing what to do.

He knew his sister, if she knew that he will leave, she will worry about his safety and might prevent him from going out that's why he does not want to tell her.

He does not want his sister to worry about him. He just wanted her to be happy.

As long as she is happy, he can do anything for her.

"Do you think going out without telling her would be fine? You don't want her to worry but what would she feel when she knows that you left without even any explanation? She will know you're gone and.... Meili!"

Zhongcheng Qingren looked surprised when he finally saw Hua Meili standing behind Jin Hua with a blank expression.

"Mei...."

"Xiao Mei....."

Hua Meili only looked at them with a deadpan expression and then took a seat, she was looking at them with a blank expression.

"Explain."

Hua Meili asked Zhongcheng Qingren to explain not even sparing him a glance as she was staring at Jin Hua the whole time.

"Your brother wants to go out of the Mansion to explore the city. He wants to see if there are any survivors and if they are still supplies left in the store and markets. He doesn't want to tell you that he will leave, since he does not want you to get worried."

Zhongcheng Qingren summarized all that they had been talking about in one breath, after he was done, he looked at her to see her reaction.

"Is that correct, Gege?"

Hua Meili looked at Jin, she leaned at the armrest and gave him a faint smile.

She looked him in the eyes to see how he will react.

To be honest, she was not angry with him. She was just trying to see how this scenario would go.

"Yes, it's true." Jin Hua admitted looking away from her scrutinizing eyes.

He was afraid that Hua Meili might hate him.

"Why do you even need to keep this a secret from me? Do you think I'm a fool and would not be able to notice that you were gone?"

Hua Meili tried to keep her voice gentle as she could seeing how the other was fidgeting like a child that has done something wrong.

"That's not what I meant! I just don't want you to worry. Besides, you may not want me to go."

Jin Hua quickly explained noting want her to get the wrong idea and hate him!

"Don't blame Jin, meimei. He's just doing this for all of us, he wants to search for supplies so that we could have food on our table. We know that your supplies were limited and you haven't gone out of here since the Apocalypse started so we're sure that the supplies you have are now very little and could not support all of us in the long run. That's why, Jin wanted to search for more supplies. Don't blame him, meimei."

Lian Pian quickly helps Jin Hua sort the matter seeing him desperately trying to explain to Hua Meili.

But the way she explained and look, which was pitiful, like Hua Meili was bullying her or something somehow struck her nerve.

'Is she picking a fight?!'

Hua Meili looked at her uninterested like she was looking at an insignificant person and looked back at Jin Hua.

Being ignored, Lian Pian's face was red with anger and embarrassment.

"Gege, I'm not blaming you or anything but you should tell me these things so I would not worry about you. Yes, I am worried that something might happen to you outside but I'll be more worried if you just left without saying anything."

Taking his hand in hers, she smiled at him to reassure him that she was not angry.

"So please, never do this again. If you want to search for survivors or food it's okay but I want you to promise me that you will come back safe and that's enough for me." Hua Meili sincerely said.

They might have not been real siblings but since she had transmigrated into the body of his sister, she would treat him as her real brother.

Even if not by the soul, then by the body?

"I'm sorry. I promise I will never leave you again without any explanations."

Jin Hua smiled happily knowing that his sister was not angry at him.

Finally, he could breathe a sigh of relief.

"Your tea, my lady."

Du Hexi smilingly put the tea in between the two of them ruining the moment and causing her to let go of his hand.

She looks at him.

Du Hexi just gave her a half-bow of politeness.

Hua Meili rolled her eyes at him.

Facing Jin Hua again, she gave a forced smile at him.

"Ge, don't forget your promise."

With the atmosphere ruined because of a cup of tea, Hua Meili could not continue her loving speech as a sister to her brother and just directly said what she wanted to say to him.

"Of course. What I promise, I will never break."

Jin Hua pat his chest assuring her or rather himself!

He does not want his sister to hate him so he will surely keep his promise!
