Their First Vow

"So, first things first, My situation"

Selene gestured to herself with a grave expression plastered on her face.

"The problem with your physique" Theo quipped

"Exactly" Selene inquisitively confirms

Selene's situation was unique. Her abundant death mana was too much for her body, making her incapable of further strengthening herself.

She was born with a human body, and the overwhelmingly strong death mana would shatter or implode in itself her body if she even tries to take off the locked armband on her right arm, which is impossible unless they're as strong as her father. 

Her body basically, akin to a fragile glass pitcher, tried to futilely contain the simmering energy of death mana that was like molten lava.

"Selene might be one of the strongest characters but she's a late bloomer for sure..."

Selene pondered for herself.

"And that's one of the main reasons why she always dies" Selene said lowering her head 

"I already know what your going to suggest"

Theo smiled wryly, dreading what Selene was about to say

"Yep, Red Beast subjugation is a must"

"Ugh, This early in the story..... is insane"

"I can't believe Mr. Top one is complaining when we've beaten that thing more than thousands of times"

"Real life and actuality are different, but...."

Theo couldn't help but feel weird inside, despite his complaints a burning sensation was rising from his stomach and it could only be described as excitement.

"The game would have never given us the chance to do this. I welcome this challenge with open arms" Theo clenching his fist in resolution.

"Now that's the Dragon I know!"

Selene smacked the back of Theo in excitement. Theo wondered at that moment if the girl in front of her was a gorilla in her past life. She was prone to physical violence.

"Imagine how much stronger we can be compared to the game, just imagining it makes me drool in ecstacy"

Selene both hands on her cheeks mesmerized in her own world.

"Snap out of it battle freak"

"HAHHH!!?? Says you!"

Selene with her usual angry tone pointed accusingly at Theo.

"Heh can't deny that, even the actual Theo is always up for a challenge"

Theo, in the game, was always finding a way to get stronger and is one of the simpler characters to play in the game.

Theodore Ignatius was the typical righteous, but stern knight in the fantasy genre. Most of his power ups just come from normal key items in the game and his day to day training, which makes him a beginner friendly character to pick for your first playthrough. Ray also began with Theo, when he first picked up the game. 

"Selene is the hardest character to play at the start, I'd rather not get one of the bad ends where I die from tripping and dying from a mere pebble...."

Selene was on her knees as memories from the time she played as Selene in the game started to emerge.

"Hahaha...."

Theo laughed weakly in agreement as he also experienced the same thing when he played Selene.

Selene Aventus in contrast with Theodore was the hardest character to play in the early game or in general.

Unlike Theodore's stagnant difficulty, Selene's difficulty only eases later in the game when she is free from all the debuffs that were initially placed on her. Selene was also prone to sickness, accidents, and bad luck, making many of the people who played her clutch their heads in front of the monitor in despair.

Stupid accidents and unfortunate small negligence was 50% of the causes of her deaths.

One of the most iconic bad endings was Selene tripping over a pebble and falling off a cliff filled with magical beasts. An ending that almost every player that played as Selene would sadly experience. 

It also didn't help that the original Selene was an airhead and a klutz.

Luckily for Selene, or Lena, The person who possessed her, was an extremely competent and athletic person, which contrasts the clumsy, shut-in and meek personality of the original Selene. 

"Ugh, this was the biggest problem I have. Selene's RNG is too f*cking random when it comes to the small accidents that come her way."

Selene started spouting profanities again and began burying herself more with memories from her previous life.

"Calm down, Selene, you have the previous you to compensate for that"

Theo genuinely spoke to Selene who was still crouched on the ground, hanging her head down in frustration.

"True....."

Maybe half of her would lower the bad luck by half, which made Selene a little bit more at ease.

Selene nodded and stood straight up and looked at Theo straight into his eyes.

"And I also have you to back me up"

Selene said with a wide smile.

"..."

Wtf... She's adorable as hell...

Theo who saw her bright smile almost had a heart attack from her sudden change of character from despair to gratitude. 

He started an emergency protocol to combat foreign thoughts clouding his mind.

It's THAT Red Blizzard we're talking about here. You don't even know if they're a guy or girl from their previous life, plus the only reason why I'm affected is because Selene is an SSS-tier beauty and it didn't help that I'm literally Theo who was meant to fall in love with Selene!

Theo kept pushing the thoughts away from his head and was adamant denying any thought he initially had when he saw her smile.

Selene tilted her head when Theo suddenly looked away, but didn't think of it too much and asked him a question.

"Oh and I was wondering for a bit if you're actually a guy, '' Selene curiously said as she placed her finger on the left side of her lips.

Hit with the question, he suddenly twitched from the sudden revelation but nodded and coughed off his embarrassment.

"Ehem.. Yep, I was a guy.."

He then glanced at Selene again and sent her a question that was in his mind.

"You?" Theo took the chance to answer the question in his head that bothered him.

Selene nodded in affirmation and had her chest out, proud of herself.

"Of course, I, Selene, am and was a genuine and well endowed lady in my previous life, surprised?"

Theo rolled his hand and all the feeling of embarrassment and nervousness he felt disappeared in an instant.

"Wow, so cool, you a girl. I'm soooooo stoked" Theo said in an obvious condescending tone.

"Hmph, I can't believe someone as big of a shut in as you are hasn't started fawning and worshiping a beauty like me" Selene said, while flicking her hair to the side

"...."

This girl definitely was a pain in the a*s her past life.

Selene's narcissistic comments further strengthened his feelings of disgust towards the woman in front of him.

Theo decided to ignore her and continue with the more important subject at hand. 

"ANYWAYS, if we want to beat the Red Beast early then we gotta start as soon as possible."

"Agreed, we have a month before my birthday and after that we'll be returning to our respective Nations" 

"Then we start tomorrow and use the telepathy, we somehow have, when we can meet up tomorrow here"

"Telepathy?"

Selene tilts her head in confusion.

<Since when!?> Selene

<Since we first met jacka*s> Theo

"Oh yeah, I didn't notice, because of the heat of the moment" Selene scratching her cheek.

Theo started to see the airhead Selene mixing in with her.

Theo only shook his head in disappointment, but couldn't judge her as he only caught on only after he entered his room earlier. 

Theo was about to leave when something tugged the hem of his shirt.

"Theo...."

Theo turned around and saw Selene staring intensely at his eyes.

"Promise me, we'll give it our together" Selene gripping the hem of Theo's shirt to convey her serious intent

"..." 

Theo was taken aback by the sudden seriousness Selene displayed and was again mesmerized by her eyes and beauty.

Her words echoed throughout his body.

He stood shocked there for a good minute before smiling at her.

Theo stared back at Selene with the same intensity, but this time he took her hand that grabbed his shirt and kneeled in front of her. 

"I, Theodore Ignatius, vow to work together with Selene Aventus to keep both of our lives till the end"

Her body started to heat up from bottom to up from Theo's unexpected gesture.

Selene's body visibly shook from Theo's actions, she knew it was a ploy to try and distress her.

Theo giggled internally from, feeling her trembling hand from his fingertips.

Her lips quivered preventing her from speaking, but the overwhelming courage within her enabled her to speak.

Her unfocused eyes now laid on Theodore's eyes.

She took a deep breath and forced her trembling body to be still with sheer will, she then smiled and spoke.

"I, Selene Aventus, vow to work together with Theodore Ignatius to prevent both of our lives from getting taken away till the end"

Theo, this time was again baffled.

Selene's blushing and squirming body, made Theo embarrassed and conscious of his Chuuni like actions.

The moonlight seemed to shine brighter for the both of them after Both of them finished their vows to each other.

The two stayed in the same position, not knowing how to go further.

Theo and Selene were also experiencing an internal turmoil with the recent actions they enacted.

This was the first vow that the two shared with each other and it will also be the first from many to come.

Selene was rolling on her bed in embarrassment 

AHHHHHHHHHH WTF!!!!???? What was I thinking !!!!!!!?????

She started beating her pillow right after and was on the verge of tears

KILL ME!!! KILL ME!!!

Meanwhile

Theo was rolled up in his blanket embarrassed and felt that the world around him was mocking him

"Ugh.... I cant go on.... I want to die"
