Chapter 6

Bara kept walking and stepped into the back yard of the campus. Bara stopped at the edge of the calm pond. He tried to sit down and ponder his relationship with Emi. Occasionally, Bara threw some pebbles into the pond, creating small ripples on the water surface. Bara felt his heart was also like those ripples, restless and directionless.

Nicole, who was walking, stopped because she saw Bara sitting alone. She was so happy to see Bara there. Nicole had liked Bara for a long time, but Nicole never admitted it because she was afraid of breaking the promise she made with her friends. The promise to not date before graduating from college. Nicole then approached Bara who was sitting by the pond.

"What are you doing alone here?" Nicole asked as she pulled Bara's hair and sat next to him. Nicole tried to act casual and cheerful, she didn't know what happened between Bara and Emi.

"Ow!" Bara screamed in pain. "You always bother me!" Bara continued with a face that looked annoyed at Nicole who came suddenly and pulled his hair hard.

"Hey! Are you upset? Haha you don't usually look upset like this. You look very ugly when you're upset." Nicole teased. Nicole deliberately teased Bara, because she wanted to see Bara's reaction. Nicole hoped Bara could forget his problem for a while and smile again. Even though Nicole didn't know what was wrong with her crush.

"Enough, for today I don't want to joke with anyone. You understand!" Bara snapped at Nicole. Bara just wanted to be alone and think about what he had to do.

"Are you trying to negotiate with me, Bara?" Nicole asked back with one eyebrow raised. Nicole pretended not to understand Bara's intention. Nicole wanted to make Bara talk to her, at least tell her his story to lighten his burden. And again, Nicole was a little curious about what really happened.

Bara looked annoyed, he just kept quiet and tried not to listen to what Nicole said. Besides, Nicole's question was very unclear to Bara. Bara felt Nicole just wanted to bother him and didn't care about his feelings.

"I'm happy to see you give in to me like this." Nicole said, continuing to bother Bara by pulling his nose, which was irritated. Nicole thought Bara wouldn't be angry with her, because she knew Bara was a good and patient person. Even usually it was Bara who often bothered Nicole.

"This girl is really annoying." Bara thought. Bara couldn't stand Nicole's attitude that was too intrusive.

Bara still glared sharply at Nicole. While Nicole just made a silly face as if mocking Bara back. Now, Bara couldn't hold back his annoyance anymore. He quickly covered Nicole's mouth with his hand.

"Just shut up! You don't know anything about my feelings. You also don't know why Emi keeps avoiding me. So, don't bother me for now!" Bara snapped at Nicole, but also a little annoyed. His snap turned into a pirate-like laugh.

Nicole just fell silent, with her mouth still covered by Bara's hand she could guess that he was having trouble with Emi.

At that moment, it turned out that Jane, Maria, and Denies who were still wandering around were passing by there. They saw the incident. The incident where Bara laughed while covering Nicole's mouth with his hand. They stopped to observe Bara and Nicole's attitude.

"Isn't that the beautiful girl from earlier? What is she doing with Angel's ex-boyfriend? Isn't she the girlfriend of that jealous woman?" Denies asked in detail. 

"How can he be surrounded by beautiful girls." Jane thought. 

Suddenly a voice shouted out.

"Bara!!!" 

Bara and Nicole immediately turned to the source of the sound because they were surprised. Even Jane, Maria, and Denies also turned to the caller.

And it turned out that the sound was the scream of a fair-skinned girl. Yes, who else if not Emi, Bara's girlfriend who was also there. It was certain that Emi saw Bara's closeness who was laughing with Nicole. Emi then approached Bara and Nicole.

"World war will soon begin, friends." Denies muttered, guessing from a distance. Denies knew that Emi was a jealous and possessive person. He was sure that Emi would be furious to see Bara and Nicole together.

"You just called me to talk about me and our relationship. Can't you wait a moment, Bara? Until you immediately look for her to have fun with?" Emi said, looking disappointed and holding back her tears with a smile. Emi felt hurt to see Bara so quickly forget her. Emi felt Bara never loved her sincerely.

"This is not what you think, Emi. I-I…" Bara stopped because Nicole cut him off. Bara wanted to explain that he had nothing to do with Nicole. Bara wanted to say that he still loved Emi and wanted to get back together with her.

"It's my fault. I'm sorry. I really didn't mean to make you guys fight." Nicole said, trying to explain because she felt guilty. Nicole knew she had made a mistake by approaching Bara at the wrong time. Nicole didn't want Bara and Emi to break up because of her.

"No need to apologize. Now Bara is no one anymore. Our relationship is over enough here. So, I congratulate you. You have succeeded in making me realize that your love is very strong." Emi said, smiling but shedding tears. Emi tried to be strong and pretend to be happy. Emi didn't want to show her weakness in front of Bara and Nicole. Emi wanted them to feel guilty for betraying her.

Bara was silent, he didn't not care. He was very shocked by Emi's decision to suddenly end their relationship. He couldn't say anything else but accept her decision which was very unfair to him. Emi then left Bara and Nicole with tears flowing so hard. Her face looked sad and angry, as if blaming Bara for everything that happened.

"Emi, please listen to me!" Nicole shouted, trying to stop Emi. But it seemed like she didn't want to hear Nicole's explanation. She ran faster, as if wanting to get away from Bara and Nicole. She didn't want to see them together, because she felt they had betrayed her.

"I told you I don't want to joke with you today." Bara said, throwing back the pebbles into the pond with annoyance. He felt Nicole had made the problem more complicated. But he also couldn't be angry and blame Nicole completely.

"Forgive me, she must have thought I had a relationship with you. Oh, what should I do?" Nicole said, feeling anxious while biting her fingernails. She felt guilty for making Bara and Emi fight.

"You must be kidding. That's impossible!" Bara said, leaving the place with a pale face and a limp step. He didn't want to stay there for long. He felt uncomfortable with the pitying look from Nicole. He wanted to be alone and think about what he had to do.

Nicole then followed Bara's steps from behind with a very anxious face. She was afraid Emi would say and spread gossip that was not good later. Even though she really liked Bara, she was also afraid her friends would be angry because Nicole broke her promise not to date before graduating later.

"It turns out that the jealous girl has misunderstood them." Denies said, trying to analyze the situation he was seeing.

Jane and Maria looked at each other and sighed. Realizing that they had been too excessive in wanting to know the relationship of their seniors, Maria then invited Jane and Denies to go home. She didn't want to get involved further in Bara and Emi's problem.

"Why are we so busy thinking about them? Ah, it's better to go home now. Come on!" Maria said, who realized she had been busy meddling in other people's lives.
