44. Time To Go Back

At the marine headquarters on the Grand Line.

Several middle-aged men and several old men heard the shocking news from Logue town. And the news was none other than Smoker who was recently known to have caught many pirates using his Logia-type Devil Fruit power. They are all veteran marines.

"There's a rookie pirate who can take down a Logia user?"

"Is that pirate well known?"

"No, he appeared recently. This is his wanted poster."

One of the middle-aged men gave a wanted poster with a value of 20 million Berries with the name Izumi the ninja.

"Only 20 million? Is this a print error?"

"Did he use Busoshoku Haki?"

Around a week after sailing from Logue town. Izumi received a notification that his mission had been completed. He could return to his world at any time within 3 days, or he would be automatically sent back when the 3-day limit had expired.

"80 million, huh?" Izumi murmured. He didn't know how much bounty he had right now. Anyway, it was certainly above 80 million Berries.

Izumi was on the deck and saw Nami riding the jet ski. Luffy also had a chance to try it, but he throttled the lever too hard so the jet ski went into full acceleration. As a result, he immediately fell into the sea.

Unlike a motorcycle that uses a twisting lever, the jet ski he made uses a throttle lever. The shape of the throttle lever looks like the brake lever. So, if someone throttled it too hard, the jet ski immediately went into full acceleration.

"No, it's different. This thing is called Log Pose. It's —" Then, Izumi explained in detail what the Log Pose was.

Unlike a regular compass, Log Pose doesn't affix to a single direction. Instead, it records the magnetic field between a particular island and the next closest island and points to the latter.

After reaching the next island and staying there for a certain amount of time, the Log Pose will reset and lock the magnetic field of the next island in the Grand Line.

"Ordinary compasses are useless on the Grand Line because each island's magnetic field is too high."

"Whoa, you saved me a lot. I didn't know we needed a special compass in the Grand Line. How did you know about this? Have you ever been to the Grand Line?" Nami felt grateful. But she was also quite surprised why Izumi knew about it.

"Almost all pirate navigators know. You ignored it yourself. Anyway, even if the Log Pose will point to a magnetic field 10000 meters above or below sea level, never doubt the Log Pose when you are in the Grand Line!"

Luffy immediately raised his hands.

However, Nami replied to him.

"You idiot! We haven't arrived at the Grand Line yet. We can talk about sky island later!"

"But, I want to go to Sky Island!" Luffy snapped at Nami and insisted on going to sky island. Nami slapped her head and asked him.

"Do you know where Sky Island is located?"

"In the sky." Luffy pointed upward.

"I also know that it's in the sky! But you don't know where to go, do you?"

"Nope."

"Then, shut up! Gezz, this unreliable captain." Nami complained about Luffy's stupidity. Even so, Luffy was still her captain, so she would try to find out the whereabouts of the sky island later.

"Alright. Time for me to go back. I'll drop by this world from time to time."

Izumi said goodbye to them. Then he disappeared from the Going Merry.
