The Disturbance (IV)

Snow didn't pay much mind as her thoughts were on the boss monster MindDiver. As if assisting Jack, the moment of his screech ended, a mighty slew of magical attacks barraged the monsters. White swords sticking out of their body like porcupines.

Jack was furious that Snow wasn't paying attention to him. His bulky body rushed towards Snow with fury with his claws outstretched.

Cursing under her tongue, Snow changed her focus back to Jack.

"I'll hold Jack back!" Snow said out loudly for the others to hear. "Focus on MindDiver!"

The others heard her yell, quickly changing their formation as they left Jack alone.

Both Jack and Snow clashed together. Their clawed fingers entwined. Jack's muscles bulged, showing off the thin veins on his bodies.

Snow could feel her body being pushed back, her claws were gripping into the ground, but only did so much. Jack was ecstatic that he was pushing her back. He licked his lips, giving her a snarky arrogant grin.

"Well, you're not all that as I thought." Jack worded with pride. "I'll taste your pretty meat tonight." Razor-sharp teeth glistened.

Annoyed that she was slowly getting pushed back, Snow decided to change the flow. Her right foot stepped backward, her hand pulled him downward. Jack's full force of strength caused him to stumble, falling face-first into the ground with a loud thud.

A sickening sound of broken bones could be heard.

Snow took this chance, her claws glowing white with magic. She slammed downwards into his back. The ground spider cracked out from pressure, magic swirled and spat out dangerous rays of magic that blinded anyone nearby.

Satisfied with her punch, she stepped back.

A groan escaped from Jack's lips.

Snow eyes become slits, realizing that he wasn't dead. Her claws, once again, whirled sparkled with magic. She aimed for his spine.

In a blink of an eye, Jack rolled over onto his back. His nose was broken as blood spilled dripped down his face. He glared at Snow, pushing off. He headbutted her.

Blinded by the sudden shock, her head rattled in her helmet. She stumbled backward, holding up her hand as she saw white spots.

Jack spat. Disgusted that he was easily outmaneuvered by Snow. This time, he carefully prowled around her, watching her every movement.

Even Snow could tell that there was a change.

Jack raised his hand to his broken nose, setting it back in place with a vicious crack. He didn't even let out a peep of sound but stared at her throughout the whole process.

Snow frowned. Eyeing the man that means more harm than kindness. It was either going to be her or him that would walk out of there alive. She had made her peace to be the one standing.

There was too much at stake, and she wanted to see the end of everything. To find out the reason why the dungeons were appearing and who was causing. Why the God of Light and Dark decided to give her a blessing, changing society's perception about her.

Too many questions were not answered. Snow steeled her resolved.

Jack spat blood on the ground, "This will be your last." He spoke arrogantly. His muscle bulged, his eyes turned into a reptilian. Black magic started to pour out of Jack's body, hissing, and crackling. Changing his body once again to a homunculus monster. On his shoulder, a dog head appeared, growling and drooling. Even his back muscle bulged to the point where he looked more like a hunchback.

Both heads inhaled deeply and spat out a torrent of fire that came straight at Snow.

Quickly, Snow raised up her hands. Sending out a magical light barrier to stop the flow. A blast of fire smashed into her shield. The temperature around her started to heat up. It felt as if she was in a hot kiln baking. Sweat dripped down on her face and body.

Eventually, Jack ran up towards her. Fist overhead, he pounded downward. He smashed over and again, her barrier cracking underneath every hit.

Jack cackle with laughter while the dog's face kept on spewing fire.

Snow summoned up her sword, gritting teeth, she continued to hold on. It took everything out of her, he hand moved, slicing the dog head with one swing.

Black blood squirted, temporarily blinding Jack.

Snow pulled down her barrier, she swung a second time. Catching the edge of his neck, she pushed with all her strength. In one swoop, Jack's surprised expression was present as his head flew off his shoulder.

In a deep sigh, Snow was finally free of the fight against Jack. His body flopped down onto the ground. At the same time, her sword dive into Jack's body once more, just to make sure nothing surprised her.

With most of the mob monsters gone, the leaders were able to focus back on MindDiver. They surrounded it, sending their heavyweight defensive players to take the attacks' brunt with their shields. A magical array of buff magic was heavily wrapped around their body to bear upon the impact of MindDiver's physical attacks. While the mages and healers stood back in safety to assist the front.

Mike, Dairen, Rodney, and even Audrey would dance, step back, and lunge underneath its massive body. Wielding their weapons as they slashed against MindDiver's skin, to take pressure off their teammates. Whenever MindDiver's focus would look away, the defensive players would sound off their skills to attract their attention.

They continued their barrage of attacks, sweeping in between its legs, twisting the monster into knots. Beating it down to a submission as its body was riddled with scars.

In raging anger, the monster glared. A powerful mental attack spat out once again to numb them.

Even though everyone was expecting such an attack, they still weren't immune to its effects. Freezing them on the spot with a blinding headache.

Snow, on the other hand, with Jack dead at her feet. She spat out one of the three powerful magic spells that she had recently learned, "Purge."

A soft holy light spread amongst the crowd. Waking everyone up from the ailing ailments. Protective energy wrapped around their mind. Each and every one of their weapons were endowed with holy light.

When MindDiver tried again to take over their mind, it was a rebuttal by the divine energy that protected every single one of their minds. Their attacks amplified, the players felt an overwhelming excitement by Snow's timely assistance. They went into full-frontal attack.

"Keep attacking!" Mike shouted. He and Audrey were busy exchanging off hits, drawing the attention away from their tankers that needed some healing.

A blinding electricity spat out from his sword, causing a few second stun upon MindDiver.

Snow was exhausted. She knew that the last magical blessing that she had spread out amongst the people tapped her out. Honestly, she didn't even know how she was still awake and gave out such a powerful spell.

Already, her body was shaking. The sword in her hand fell onto the floor as it disappeared into her storage right after.

Snow breath was heavy. She still stood in place, watching the fight happen. Even standing was exhausting, but she knew that if she fell asleep now, there was a chance that she could die.

Nobody was watching her back as they were all focused on the attack against the MindDiver.

Summoning up the fallen monsters, Dairen used as much magic he could muster without completely draining himself. It was two of the largest raptors that came with MindDiver. Each one ran and snapped up MindDiver's legs,

MindDiver roared, shaking the two off. Dairen's arrow, filled with dark magic, smashed into the same shoulder, taking out a large chunk.

A powerful blast of magic spewed out of his body, completely different from the rest that it would usually send. It was more powerful and potent to the point where many fell on the floor from grave injury.

Angie, who had a barrier around her the whole time, used her area to heal as many people as possible. But even then, only the strongest were able to stand up and fight again.

This time, with both Mike and Rodney combined.

"Firestorm!" Rodney yelled. A tornado of fire burst from the ground circling MindDiver.

"Electric strikes!" Mike followed after. A bolt of angry lighting fell from the sky, continuously striking one after another repetitively.

Everyone watched, dazed at the power that both Mike and Rodney have given off. They could see how strong the two top guild leaders were and knew that they weren't someone to mess with.

When both of their magical attacks finally stopped, they stared with held breath as the monster stood silently in place. The black crystal in its chest finally cracked in half. Deathly silence followed after. With a thud, the monster fell onto the ground dead.

Suddenly, an eruption of voices exploded.

"We did it!" One of the players cheered, excited at the prospect of winning against the very thing they had come for.

Snow was relieved and happy that they had won. It was as if all her energy washed out of her. Her knees buckled. Her eyes become droopy. Her eyes caught Mike's and worded I'm sleepy before she fell on the spot. In seconds, she blacked out as she went to sleep.
