Chapter 10

Ava's P.O.V

After that conversation, I couldn't quite remember where we were.

My mind was swirling and I couldn't focus on anything that Crowley had said. I could hardly understand a thing he had just told me. Was he serious? Of course, he was! He loves me…he wouldn't lie to me about such a thing. And I didn't want him to anyway. I trusted him implicitly; he didn't even try to hide his affection towards me. The demon wasn't lying about those things. He loves me. He would never intentionally hurt me, and I wouldn't allow him to either.

"So why aren't you answering me?" Crowley demanded frustratedly after an endless silence, breaking me out of my trance. "I know you're mad, but I'm not sure what I did wrong! If you're upset, just talk to me, ok? Let's make some tea," he offered hopefully and held out his hand. Without realizing it, Ava had already stretched out hers and grabbed it. As she pulled it towards herself, she gave him a weak smile, shaking her head slightly in disbelief.

"We can't. My mother has forbidden me to do so," she stated simply and watched as a frown formed across the demon's face.

"What?! Why?" he asked curiously. He seemed to be genuinely baffled by what had happened.

"Because, Crowley, I can't go anywhere near the house," I replied sadly, looking at him with sad, watery eyes. "She forbade me and I don't want to defy her…I don't know how she managed to persuade her father…" I admitted guiltily. "She made him promise not to tell her about our meeting tonight." A bitter chuckle left my mouth as I recalled the memory. "He was so angry…so mad and disappointed…he shouted that I had no rights to speak to you like that. Said that I needed to learn to stand my ground or else he'd teach me a lesson, which he would gladly do." My voice broke off as I swallowed nervously. Crowley raised an eyebrow at me.

"Why on earth would he…?" he asked confused. Before I could reply, however, he gasped lightly and covered his mouth with his free hand, eyes wide with horror. "Oh gods…your mum…" he mumbled under his breath horrified as his expression changed entirely from curiosity into horror. He sighed and ran a hand through his hair agitatedly. He glanced at me briefly before turning his eyes to the ground and letting out another heavy sigh.

"You were afraid of her?" he asked quietly as he looked at me questioningly.

I nodded my head and sniffed quietly, "Yes. She scared the hell out of me. Every time I went upstairs and walked by her room, she turned around and glared at me. Whenever I entered her room and closed the door behind me, she started screaming at me to come out and fight her. Every time I even thought of telling you any of this, she screamed at me again. When she saw us holding hands the first time…she got even angrier and kept saying that it was sinful and a sin to be seen holding my boyfriend's hand!" I added in frustration as I remembered how hard she had yelled at me.

He let out a shaky breath and ran a hand through his hair once more while he continued looking at the floor. Then he suddenly stood up straight and quickly looked into my eyes, his blue ones glistening with tears. His jaw clenched and trembled as he looked into my eyes.

"I want to protect you," he whispered.

"From my mother?" I whispered, sounding almost hopeful. He hesitated for a second before nodding his head slightly.

"She will never stop until she gets what she wants…she will make you pay for all she's done…for all the pain that she caused to you…she will destroy everything she touches…everything, Ava…and you'll be there. All alone..." he added, his voice breaking as tears filled his eyes once more.

"You will never, ever lose me. Because no matter what happens, there will be nowhere you could go that I couldn't follow you. I will never abandon you because I care too much for you to do that. No matter where I end up, you'll be able to find me…always…always…there will only be two possibilities for us: we will spend eternity together, or else we will be apart forever," he added, reaching his right arm around to wrap it tightly around my shoulders.

"Don't you think you're a little extreme?" I asked him softly and looked at him lovingly, stroking his cheek tenderly, but then I noticed something. "Is your left eye black now?" I asked, suddenly remembering seeing blackened eyelashes earlier when we kissed just moments ago. He nodded his head silently and smiled softly.

"That's my new eye color; that's how I met with you today, Ava. My old one was black, but I decided that it was too painful to look at.
