Questions

As I reentered the library after having a great lunch, I went back to the library to ask a few questions that have been on my mind for quite a while.

I entered the library and found Hecate sitting on a chair, reading a book with a blue cover. I went to her and asked her if she knew why the dragons weren't the dominating specie on the continent. She then had a pained expression on her face and she told me "In the past, we great dragons have made several great mistakes that costed us our foothold on the continent to crumble."

As she told me that, she took a sip from a black tea that she had on a small table whilst having a dejected expression on her face. She looked deep into the tea as to see something out of my grasp and she started telling me the reason why we currently are in such a bad position.

"The reason why we are currently crippled is due to the decisions of the first dragon king who let the decision of who the next king will be to his two prideful sons. That created a conflict that wiped out a majority of our race"

As she finished speaking, I was left to think about this information 'Really? Something that happened eons ago is still affecting us today? Surely there has to be more depth to it than just this'

Exactly after I ended thinking, bells started to ring with a peculiar rhythm. It was the melody signaling that the knights had reached the castle and had finished their patrol. As such, I exited the library after biding farewell to Hecate and I started sprinting through the manor towards the hall. I walked through the stairs under the gaze of the crystal chandeliers before grabbing a brown robe to conceal my appearance and I went out of the house.

As I pushed the heavy wooden door, although it would not be very effective against an adult dragon, I started sprinting towards the exterior walls and after I went through the door and was greeted by the two guards wearing standardized enchanted iron armor, I looked at a crowd that was parted into two by a group of passing knight.

They were all talking at the same time, leading one to think of them more as mercenaries than rightful knights. One could quickily grasp the content of their conversation from the angry look on their faces. I listened.

"These damn elves bastard, how far are they going to push us out of their damned forest?"

"Yeah, they reduced us to a barony with their ambushes and their cowardly tactics"

"Luckily we have the lord and his family who can help us to a certain extent, especially Ryan. His swordsmanship is impeccable."

The soldiers kept rambling on and on about how elves were the bane of them and how they wish that they could face them one on one instead of having to lure them out of their holes.

I then made my way back to the castle gates, where I found my brother talking with a soldier who had lost his right arm

"Don't worry, you will be able to fight again in just a few days. After all, you don't have to worry as your head and torso are both intact."

"Thankfully Roberto took picked my sword from the cave."

I then made my way into the castle after showing an insignia which bore my family crest, and there I waited for my brother to arrive.

AN: Hey, I apologize for the late chapter. I realized after i finished writing the draft that I made a gargantuan info dump and decided that it was WAY too boring, so I thus decided to rewrite the chapter from scratch. I don't know if I will be able to post another chapter today
