------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A bright, orange-hued brilliance slowly receded from the streets of Faraway, signifying the slow dwindling light of the sun and the coming of night.
Walking down the streets of Faraway with a plastic bag in my hand, I saw that the sun was falling on the horizon. I began to walk at a much faster pace to get back home.
(It's getting late. I should be close to Faraways exit now...)
While retracing my steps back, I began to notice that stars were now visible up in the sky.
The sun was nowhere to be seen on the horizon. And the moon was currently slowly rising above the sky while starlight was shining down on me from above.
Street lights were now beginning to light the roads as what little houses were still in sight began to turn their lights on.
*Tap*
*Crunch*
*Tap*
*Crunch*
(I've just noticed how quiet it is during this time of day)
I mused as I trudge along the road, stepping on gravel and random foliage.
There was no other noise other than the sounds of my footsteps. There wasn't even the faintest of sounds of cars or people.
This atmosphere is getting quite eerie.
An exit sign soon came near my field of view, the same one I saw when I just arrived,
This time, however, something was different.
As I came near the sign, I noticed a boy, who looked no less than twelve, blocking the path ahead of me.
He seemed to be waiting for somebody as he just stood there, his face entirely blank.
Waiting for somebody…
Wait.
Crap.
(Crap! This whole situation screams horror! I mean it's so obvious that somethings gonna happen.)
My steps halted to a stop as I started to tense up when I realized what was happening or was gonna happen.
Looking closer I could recognize the kid ahead of me. Black hair, short stature, and a face that hid any emotion as good as any mask.
(What the hell is sunny doing here?! Shouldn't he be at his house or with his friends?! Heck he probably should be practising with his sister right now.)
Trying to make sense of the scenario happening I began to think of multiple possibilities happening currently.
Yet no matter how hard I thought about what this situation implicated to be. I could not come to a reasonable judgment.
*Step*
The sound of feet hitting the ground broke me from my thoughts. I began to tense when I heard that noise fearing that Sunny might have already been running to end my life. Strangely that wasn't what happened instead of what I expected. It seemed to just be a means to get my attention.
Deciding to just ask questions directly instead of stewing in my own thoughts I began with a simple suspicion without trying to show any nervousness.
"Who are you?" I can't be sure if this is sunny or not. It may just be a phantom of my mind trying to scare me.
My question was answered with him slowly raising his arms at me holding a knife
Needless to say I was quickly alarmed to notice that he was holding a knife In his hand.
(Is he threatening me? If he doesn't step aside...I'll drop-kick him if I have to.)
Forgetting all my previous emotions I started to get ready in case I'd actually have to drop-kick a child.
"I'll ask again...who are you?" I said in a much more serious, cold voice. Sadly whatever effect I was hoping to accomplish was lost, seeing as his face of indifference never broke.
Seeing that words wouldn't work I began to get ready to fight or flight.
(How low I have fallen. To even think about drop-kicking a child!)
I mentally complained about my decision not really changing my response to this situation.
However I was pleasantly surprised when for the first time during our encounter the kid spoke.
"Who?" The kid asked, his voice emotionless.
(Is he asking who I am?)
Quickly understanding the question he was asking. I shortly answered.
"My name is Jack. What's yours?" I asked politely, trying to erase any tension from my tone of voice.
"No." the kid spoke with a low voice.
(No? What does he mean by no? No, as in I won't tell you my name? Or-)
"No."
I was interrupted from my thoughts when I heard the kid say 'no' again. This time it was more audible.
Why is he saying no? This is freaking me out.
After a moment the kid closed his eyes for a few seconds before opening them again.
He then pointed his knife at me and said.
"Black Space." The kid spoke with finality while pointing his knife at me.
If I wasn't alarmed before I was alarmed now. Not of the knife, no, but the existence of 'Black Space.'
(Black Space...Black Space...? Black Space!? How!?")
There's no reason for Blackspace to exist, at least right now! Sunny doesn't have any sort of trauma at this time…
Right?
If I remember correctly, Mari should still be alive, Hero and Kel aren't mourning...and I'm pretty sure I saw flower boy smiling while taking care of his garden.
That is, if my memory serves correctly. I did, after all, forget most of my memories as a human.
(So why?! Why did he speak like he knows Black Space?!)
Hundreds of possibilities went through my mind at that moment, others more insane than the others.
(Is this timeline some sort of au where Sunny was abused and negle-no that doesn't make sense.)
Yet none of the possibilities I came up with were reasonable. They were either idiotic or outright impossible.
Clicking my tongue, I broke myself from my thinking to focus on the knife-wielding trauma boy at hand.
He was still standing there, just looking at me menacingly, waiting.
Realizing that I've been silent since he said that I was 'Black Space,' I spoke up to refute his claims.
"I'm not…'Black Space'..." I paused, and then quickly added another line-
"-or whatever that is."
I didn't want him to know that I know a lot. A lot about him.
Now I hope. I hope that he'll just leave me alone to go back home.
That wishful thinking was instantly killed like my heart back at the surgery when red hands abruptly manifested around Sunny. Just as abruptly as it was formed, it instantly propelled to me like missiles.
I raised my arms to defend myself...which proved to be futile when I was flung back from the force of the blow, dust began blowing around where I stood before as I was blown away.
When I landed I hastily got back up, dusting myself while keeping the red hands and Sunny in my line of sight. While doing so, I began to assess the damage he did to me.
Surprisingly it didn't hurt as much as I anticipated, it pricked a bit...but not as much as I expected.
Putting my questions on my inhuman durability later, I began to try and formulate a plan to escape this battle. Winning against someone with a knife and supernatural abilities was clearly a battle to run from with my skills.
If I had any.
(I need to distract him long enough for me to escape,
but the question...is how do I distract him long enough for me to escape?)
Looking around for anything to use, I could see nothing...only the plastic bag I was carrying holding the food I bought.
Hopefully the fruit and candy weren't damaged.
Seeing nothing to use that could distract Sunny, I decided to use words to distract him.
"Hey...what would your sister feel jumping on a random stranger in the middle of a road?"
Hearing the word 'sister,' he stopped, and seemed to start pondering for a moment. That exact second was exactly my window of escape.
Bolting down the path, I quickly maneuvered around the kid, passing him as I ran towards the exit of faraway.
At that moment, I felt as if I'd escaped. Sadly that feeling was squashed as the same red hands that attacked me began hurtling towards me again.
Feeling something cold shivering up my spine, I dodged to the side just as the red hands hit the ground where I was at previously. The force of the hands creating a small crater, along with a cloud of dust.
Momentarily dumbfounded by the force the red hands attacked with, I was caught by surprise when another one launched towards me, this time holding a knife.
Caught off guard, I could only stand in shock as the knife was about to hit my face. There was no way to dodge it. It was too fast...and I was too surprised to dodge.
Then, before I closed my eyes from my instinctual flinch, I felt the force of the knife hitting my mask...followed by the sound of it shattering from the force.
*Ting*
Elated by the fact that I didn't die, I didn't notice something gripping my leg till I was being violently thrown around the air.
After being waved left and right for a few seconds, I was finally flung back onto the ground.
*Crash*
Violently crashing down into the ground, I felt a small sensation of pain go through my entire body.
However, I slowly got back up so as to seem strong. Unnoticeably, the eyes of Sunny slightly widened as I fully stood up without a scratch. I then calmly brushed the dust off myself once more.
Although I was calm outside...inwardly, I was starting to lose hope of escaping and making it out alive.
(Those red hands are too fast...it's only thanks to my strange endurance and even more strangely hardened mask that I even survived any of those hits.
Observing the black haired boy and his wavy red arms, I once again tried to formulate a simple plan.
(I need to knock the kid out. That's the only way to escape...I think. I just need to get close enough to punch him with all my might to knock him out...sounds easy enough.)
Focusing back to the kid I saw that he too was a bit dumbfounded by my endurance. That also was the first time during our short encounter that I saw the slightest sign of emotion on his face.
Coming back to reality, I started searching around for any stray red hands getting ready for a sneak attack.
Seeing that there was none, and all of them were behind the kid once again, I started getting ready for my counter attack.
Getting into position, I made myself look as if I was gonna try to make a run for it again.
(The kid has no knife left with him, since the previous one broke. I should be good at taking blunt attacks from those red hands...)
Bolting from my spot, I began to enact my impromptu plan. The plan was to get enough momentum going for an attack...an attack so devastating that it was used by the tsunderes of old as a means to accomplish their goal.
That's right. I was getting ready for a drop kick.
The kid seeing me running to him began to use the red hands to attack me again.
Even still I kept Moving forward even though they were on a direct collision course with my body if I didn't dodge.
And that's exactly what I did. I stepped slightly to the right, almost skimming me as I dodged the hands that grazed past me.
Then, I continued running towards Sunny. He began to tense seeing that I continued running for an attack, and that his hands couldn't come back in time.
At least...that was what I thought...until I noticed more hands appear behind him.
(Now that's just cheating.)
-were my thoughts before I was launched back past where I originally was at.
My body skipped and tumbled as I skidded across the ground.
As if It wasn't enough, I was then grabbed by my legs once again before being thrown towards the exit sign of faraway.
Even before I landed on the sign, even more hands directly striked me in the chest. The force made me land against the sign harder and faster.
If I wasn't hurt before, I was in pain now. My superhuman durability be damned as my chest felt like I was hit by a sledgehammer, even if I've never been hit by a sledgehammer before.
I think.
Falling off the exit sign of Faraway, I landed on the ground, coughing and groaning.
I slightly turned to the side, and panicked a little as I saw Sunny creating more hands, as if in preparation for a final attack.
In a last ditch effort to discourage him from killing me, I tried to talk him out of it..
"What...would your friends say about killing a person?"
In response, the kid just blankly stared at me.
"Black Space."
Seeing my inevitable defeat or death in this case, I groaned and let out a sigh of exhaustion.
(So this is the end of my second life...it was a very short second life.)
The kid, as if thinking it wasn't enough, began to conjure up even more hands than before. I could only give him an exasperated look, but my mask covered all the expressions on my face.
(Talk about overkill. Man, I shouldn't have gone outside. I'm sorry Es...it looks like I won't be coming back...)
Red hands that seemed to come from all sides began to launch towards me.
Seeing this, I thought for a bit on my last words, just for my final words I might as well die cool.
I got onto my two legs to say my last words..
"Go-*cough*-go...go jump off a-"
"Sunny!" A voice yelled in shock.
"Hmm?"
From the voice alone, I guessed it was a girl by the sounds of it.
Sunny, hearing the voice, immediately dismissed the red hands and looked behind him.
Seeing the kid dismiss his powers and looking slightly panicked, I realized who the voice belonged to. To even go as far as to try to hide...it's clear who it was.
(Heh. Saved by the bell.)
The voice belonged to none other than his big sister...Mari.
I laughed inside, seeing Sunny trying to fix his slightly guilty look.
(It's a miracle that I haven't passed out yet.)
Deciding this to be a good moment to escape I silently and slowly got up, and began to walk away...not before picking up the bag of groceries that conveniently landed near me.
Slowly walking away, I checked to see if items inside weren't damaged, and fortunately none of them were. After briefly checking the items I bought I started to walk faster, forcing me to limp away from this family drama.
How did I know it was a family drama? Well, I slightly turned around, and saw the drama was about to happen as Sunny and Mari just stared at each other tensely.
I didn't have a chance to observe what Mari looked like, but from my short glance, Mari looked like an older version of Sunny, with her black hair and eyes. In the game, she was more bright, happy, emotional, taller, and had longer hair.
Of course, right now, her face wasn't her usual smiling one, and was instead...very strange.
(Anger maybe?)
Seeing this, I shook my head. The next course of action was obvious.
(I don't want to deal with this drama, just like I don't want to be near that overpowered boy. I'll just head home...)
I thought, limping even faster to get back to Es's room.
(Actually.)
Thinking for a bit I yelled out to the two siblings staring at each, breaking the silent tension that formed around the two.
"You both owe me."
Nodding my head, I walked off in a manner that is deemed 'cool.' Or at least tried to. Hiding a limp is hard, alright?
Still, what's wrong with having the last say in something?
Moving forward, I heard the girl yell at me to stay where I was. Which in all fairness would've been the best choice with all the damage I've sustained.
Still...
I just want to go home.
So I just decided to ignore her and the other voices behind her that sounded like another teenager and a bunch of kids.
...
Finally making it into the forest, I looked around for a while, and after a few seconds, I finally let out a breath of relief.
I couldn't help but think that Sunny would chase after me, alright? Or at least some sneak attack...
"I can't wait to go back to Es's room and sleep," I mused, massaging my chest from the leftover wounds and bruises of the fight.
