And she cried. She cried like there was no tomorrow.
Like a candle losing its flame, losing its life.
Arya sat down on the grass and leaned against the old apple tree; her eyes swollen from the tears she had just shed.
"Matthew, why did you leave when I needed you most?" "Why now? Why?" Her chest tightened as she said those words.
Tears continued to fall from her eyes, dampening her cheek. But it only remained that way. Because the person who used to wipe them away, the very person who caused them in the first place, is now gone and far from her reach.
---2 years later---
"Arya, wake up breakfast is ready." "Mhmm…Good morning Altair!"
The smell of pancakes and coffee filled the air as soon as she walked out of her room and into the kitchen, where Altair was busy washing dishes.
"Good morning sweetness," she said as she lightly hugged Altair, startling her. "Heya, anything wrong?" Altair asked.
"No. Is it bad to hug my girlfriend?" She replied, hugging her a little tighter.
Altair dried her hands and faced Arya and then said, "No, there is nothing wrong with it. It's just that, aren't you tired from hugging me?" Arya just hugged her tighter and uttered, "I'll never get tired of hugging you, just like how I'll never get tired of loving you!"
Altair felt her heart beat faster after what Arya told her, making her speechless. But she regained her composure and simply replied, "Arya, you never cease to amaze me. Every day you just unfold a new part of yourself and it just amazes me."
She then lifted up Arya's chin, making her look up to her. She placed her face near Arya's and gave her a light kiss on her lips.
Arya put her arms around Altair's neck and pulled her closer, turning the light kiss into a more passionate and direct one.
The kiss lasted for about five seconds before Altair pulled back, breaking it.
"S-sorry, I-"
"Shh, it's okay Altair," Arya whispered unto Altair as she put both of her hands on either side of Altair's face, "Let's just eat, shall we?"
She pulled Altair to the table and they both sat down to eat.
Laughter and teases filled the dining room until Arya's phone rang. She picked it up and answered the call.
"Ah yes sir. I got it sir. Okay, thanks sir!"
A smile streaked her face as she placed her phone on the table. "I've been promoted!" Altair smiled at hearing the news and congratulated Arya for it.
"I guess you finally got that promotion you've been praying for."
"YEP! So, lunch is on me. We're going to eat in a fancy place today!" Arya excitedly told Altair who had just finished her food.
