When Damien woke up several hours later, he flickered his eyes open. He recalled what happened the night before. His mate was in his room. At first, he thought he was dreaming. There was no sign of her scent anywhere. There was only Carmen's.
Had he mistaken the Supreme Alpha's daughter for his mate?
'Our mate was here,' Yukon reassured him.
Though their connection was still weakened as a result of their injuries, Damien could still feel and hear his wolf. As he sat up in bed, he winced a little in pain. His wounds had all been tended to, cleaned, and wrapped in bandages with ointments.
"You're awake!" Carmen's voice cut through his train of thought.
The she-wolf didn't even knock. She walked in as if she owned the place. Damien shifted uncomfortably as Carmen rushed to his bedside with tears in her eyes.
"Alpha Damien, you saved my life! If it wasn't for me you…" the she-wolf burst into tears, weeping as if someone had died.
