Alpha's Rebellious Mate

“Who are you? What are you doing here?” Alpha Rofus asked in a cold and serious tone, staring at the young woman in front of him. A young woman who caused his heart to race instantly. “Stay away from me! Please, I am scared of you!” She was sobbing already. “Calm down. I won’t hurt you,” he said before disappearing into the woods. “She is our mate...” his inner wolf whispered in his mind, something he was not expecting to happen. She? A mate? But she’s a human! Seeking solace from her mother’s hasty decision to remarry shortly after her father’s death, Amelia flees into the forbidden Forester Woods, unaware that her impulsive escape will lead to an encounter with Rofusio Melbore, the newly appointed Alpha of the Blazepaw Guardians pack. As Rofus gazes upon Amelia, an unfamiliar sensation surges within him, awakening his inner wolf. Overcome by an undeniable connection, he instinctively reaches out to comfort her, wiping away her tears. Startled and fearful, Amelia pushes him away, unable to comprehend the strange pull between them. Realizing that Amelia is his destined mate, Rofus is hesitant to disclose his true nature as a wolf since she is a human. Despite the obstacles and their initial fear, love blossoms between them. But will they overcome their insecurities and accept each other for who they really are? Will this fragile feeling last when they find out the truth about Amelia’s biological father? Or will Rofus lose his rebellious mate forever?

Lucky enough

Rofus let out a muffled laugh before shifting his attention to Nikita. His behaviors made me even more nervous, and they also took me by surprise. I had the impression that he was hiding something from me, but I was unable to identify what it was. He walked toward the seat in front of the dining table in a deliberate way and eventually passed Nikita and me on his way. I almost shuddered when I felt like a cold wind hugged me as he passed. I also felt as if someone was staring at me and observing my every move, even though I did not see anyone. He sat on a different chair with all those chairs in the dining area, saying that in this mansion he was the only ruler. I was helpless to keep my eyes from keeping up with him. I was even able to distinguish his voice; it is extremely unlikely that I am mistaken with my hunch.

Does Nikita also know that he can transform into other forms? If the answer is yes, then does that mean that Nikita is also a wolf?

Do I have to be afraid of them?

I grinned and shook my head. If it were true, there's a chance that I'd come to regret making the decision to come here with Nikita. Or maybe I was wrong with my gut feeling about their identity. My anxiety is making me feel like my head is going to split open any second now. If my suspicions about their family are accurate, then they are...

"Amelia, please take a seat and eat. Don't make the food wait. You should eat them while they're still hot."

Nikita's sentence made the flood of my thoughts stop. I knew if I didn't stop it a little longer, I was going to panic. And I am scared of what I can do after that event.

"I want to lay my back on the bed and rest, so hurry up!"

I immediately complied with Nikita's instruction and sat down next to her. I immediately grabbed the spoon and fork, and I forced myself to concentrate on the food that was in front of us. I also moved my focus back to Rofus, who was sitting quietly and slowly putting his food on his plate. I watched his every movement. I just barely caught a glimpse of him out of the corner of my eye. After I had finished obtaining my own food, it was only a few minutes before I turned my attention back to him again, despite the fact that Nikita was still talking to me. I started to eat, but my eyes were still fixated on Rofus, and I was sure that he was aware of the fact that I was staring at him constantly.

"Nikita, does it look like I have something on my face?"

My pupils started to dilate, and I immediately looked away from him. Did I say earlier that Rofus probably knows and can sense what I'm doing? I was right. I can't believe that he knows, even though he never glanced at me once. His question brought me to the point of almost choking. I quickly grabbed the glass of water when Nikita gazed back at me to check why I was suddenly coughing before she answered her cousin's question. I know she was concerned about why I was suddenly having trouble breathing and nearly choking on my food.

"There is absolutely nothing on your face, Rofus. Why did you ask?"

"Your fellow guest was looking at my face a while ago, and I mistakenly believed there was something on my face because of how she was staring at it."

When I heard that, I almost dropped the glass I was holding tightly.

Amelia, you are absolutely embarrassing yourself with this behavior! What gives you the right to stare at him in such a way? Bring yourself back to reality! Come to your senses!

When Nikita turned to look at me, I immediately felt humiliated, and my embarrassment level increased. I lowered my head to hide my face, which was already almost certainly going to be red. It's hard for me to put into words why I behaved the way I did. I didn't want to make it too long, but I couldn't stop myself from looking at Rofus as if there were some sources of power that made me continue to do that. Will they believe me if I tell them that I did not do it on purpose?

"Amelia, eat slowly. Try not to be so timid. You can eat whatever you want at this table. Come on, don't be shy."

Nikita made a statement in favor of myself criticizing her cousin Rofus's survey, which I was doing at the time. She did not even look at it to see how accurate it was. Even though I was more uncomfortable at that moment, I made an effort to smile at her.

Oh, my goodness, Amelia, you are such a hot disaster right now. Shame on you, lady. Act in a proper manner. Put an end to this and feel embarrassed about yourself!

"Hurry up. Finish your food, and let's get some rest. I am sure that you are exhausted as well."

I grabbed the spoon and fork. I took a bite out of the food and started eating it once more. I guess I was too focused on what I was doing to notice that Rofus looking at me discreetly, which obviously has a completely different meaning now. I'm getting that vibe.

"All right. My apologies, Nikita. The grandeur of the setting in this mansion simply astounded me. And the fact that you also have a cousin, whom I've met before with our other friends, made me feel lucky enough despite your knowing everything. I was feeling unlucky on this day."

I saw how Nikita's lips lifted at my last statement. I know she finds it hard to believe my lies, but I know she won't embarrass me in front of other people, especially her cousin. That's how much she loves me as a friend. And I'm very lucky to have her in my life.
