Arlot had climbed many flights of stairs before arriving at Xiana's door. The little vampire girl dwelled happily in the tallest section of the main tower in Hell's fortress. The raven-haired maiden was almost always found in a place of high stature and darkness. The room seemed exactly to her tastes when Arlot knocked and opened the door. "Xia," he called out into the darkness. The light didn't reach far enough into the room to tell where anything was, but the boy knew that Xiana was here. "I guess I'll just have to open the curtains," Arlot said loudly while he fumbled for the cord. "Wait!" cried a girl's voice from the back corner. "I have a match somewhere," the girl said as a tinge of green appeared.
The ominous candles in the room showed just enough light to make out a small fireplace, a bed, and a vanity. Cobwebs covered all but the insides of the chimney, and spiders kept all of their eyes in a close stair while the werewolf approached the room's owner. Arlot smiled as the petite girl whispered to an arachnid on her hand and stared at her mirror. "Hello, Arlie!" she smiled sweetly while jumping into the werewolf boy's arms. Arlot accepted her hug, but he soon loosened his grip to the slobbery feeling against his neck. "Why are you here so suddenly? Is there something important happening?" Xiana spoke cheerfully while releasing her captive. "Has a date been decided for our marriage?" she squeaked under a veil of red.
Arlot patted his fiancé's head gently before rubbing the bruise on his neck and taking a deep breath. "Actually, I'm not here for a visit this time. Amiana was hurt by an unknown being. The adults are deciding how to handle everything," he sighed. Xiana let out a gasp and waited for her lover to say more. "I think she'll be okay," he added. The answer wasn't the whole truth, but the werewolf wasn't ready for the vampire girl's reaction. There was a chance that Xiana wouldn't want to marry him anymore, especially if she thought he couldn't keep her safe. "Let's head downstairs. I want to see how Aunt Vivian is," Xia smiled.
At request, Arlot took hold of his fiancé's hand and walked to the den. When the couple arrived, Xuario was poking at a fire while Vivian sat cuddled next to her father. "Hello papa," Xiana greeted before moving towards her aunt. "Are you alright, Aunt Vivian?" she asked. The werewolf woman looked as if she'd been crying. "I'm fine, darling," she said with a sniffle. Lucifer pulled his daughter towards his chest and raked his fingers through her hair. "Good day, Xiana. Might you come sit with me?" the girl's grandfather questioned.
The little vampire girl took a seat beside Lucifer. "Sweetheart, I heard you have a nasty scar on your back. Uncle Scarrden is coming by as soon as he can. I want you to give him full participation with treating it," the tall man stated. Xiana's face flushed red in embarrassment while she turned to see Arlot, and then her papa. Tears started to form in the petite girl's eyes, but Arlot gave her a reassuring smile and excused himself from the room. Xiana whimpered at the thought of Arlot knowing she had a mark. "Will he want to be with me even though I have a possible mark?" Xia thought.
Xuario was the first to make a move towards the young vampire. "Don't worry about trivial matters, love. Please, be a good girl and show me your back," he cooed. Xiana pulled the sleeves of her dress down to show the top half of her body. "I won't ever forgive you, papa," she sniffled under her breath. Vivian rubbed her shoulders, "Does it hurt so bad that you're crying? Pray tell, why didn't you say something sooner?" Xiana took a handkerchief from her grandfather. "It doesn't hurt so bad. How does it look?" she asked. Xuario kissed the top of his daughter's head. "Sweetie, it looks much better than before. I doubt it will even leave a scar," he assured.
Vivian nodded in agreement with her half-brother. "Xia, can you tell me what you remember before getting hurt?" crouched the raven-haired woman. "Well... I had gone to the human village the day before, and then I went to the pond on the outskirts to see the fish before coming home. The only other person there was a green nymph boy feeding ducks. I don't remember getting hurt at all," she answered. Vivian hummed in response and brushed her hand against Xiana's gash. "Father, can you come here with a vial," the werewolf beckoned as Xiana shuddered. "What? Did you find something?" Xuiario spewed hectically. "You must have! You wouldn't do something treacherous without good reason," the vampire rambled on. "Drastic times do call for drastic measures, my brother. I've found glitter wash," Vivian answered. Lucifer clenched his fists, "You found... what?"
At this reaction, Xiana tucked her body as if she were a turtle and averted her gaze to the vial of her blood on the table. Vivian noticed her niece's behavior and pushed her sleeves up. "You did so well, my dear. Might you go and keep my Arlot company?" the woman smiled. "Of course!" exclaimed the young Xiana before scurrying off. The adults watched as the girl ran into the hall before turning back to their conversation. "How did you not notice there was glitter wash on her?" exclaimed Vivian. "We vampires aren't known for detecting such fairy nonsense! Why not ask our father," growled her brother. "Lucifer," they both yelled in unison as his fingers curled. "I wasn't informed that my adopted grandchild had even been wounded until today. I think it's safe to assume I didn't realize she had glitter wash on her. Upsettingly, I will be having a talk with the Fairy Queen," he sighed. "I just can't stand those winged pests and their hierarchy."
