Chapter 4: Schedule

Chapter 4: Schedule

I didn't expect anything less from workouts in the army,

Being pushed to the limit was a given, something I knew was going to happen.

Right when my muscles were not able to take on the weights anymore, the weight would drop perfectly to amounts where I had to continue pushing myself.

Following this, we went to train my core and then upper-body as well.

Following the entire session, we went back into the Recovery-Pod and rested for 3 minutes.

Waking up right after that, I saw 3 new textbooks, each specialized for each of us.

Mine was fairly simple.

[100 Rules of Survival for ranged-dealers]

I looked over to the others and I saw similar books about tanks and damage dealers for the other 2.

Wanting to know more about the others, instead of studying right away, I tried to make small talk.

"Gravis, what's the reason why we need to change our roles after becoming a captain?"

"It's classified." He replied, as he started to flip through his book, while sitting at a desk that had been arranged for us beforehand.

"Then how do you know about it?" Alex asked as well, as he also sat down.

"Because I do." He replied again, while making eye contact with Alex.

Sensing the dire atmosphere, I decided to change topics.

"Alex, what's your reason for joining the Federation?" I asked him.

"It is the easiest way to wealth and power, don't you think so? As long as you don't mind risking your life, it won't be a surprise to become a high-ranking member." He clearly stated his intentions.

"I think so too. I joined for a similar reason." I stated, as I looked down towards the book.

"Tch." Gravis sounded, as he left the room.

"Done already?" Alex asked, as Gravis was leaving.

"I read that book ages ago." Gravis stated, as he left.

Alex then sighed, as he also stood up.

"Sorry Aiden but you're on your own for these study sessions, you see I also read this book before." He said as he walked to the entrance.

"Ah don't worry about me, I will join you guys soon enough." I stated, as I stared down at the book which had hundreds of pages.

He nodded calmly, as he left the area.

As he left, I couldn't help but feel all alone.

These were prodigies all right, and they have had a massive head start as compared to me. While I have been jerking off, they have been hard at work.

I flipped to the first page of the book, deciding to finish at least a couple of chapters.

Chapter 1: Introduction

Importance of survival skills for ranged-dealers

Overview of the 100 rules

After that, breakfast was delivered to our area, probably at the instruction of the Lieutenant. Now, it's time for our Martial Arts lesson.

"Gravis, you already have your own Martial Art, so you can go pick a room and train in it." Lieutenant Khan said, to which Gravis nodded and left.

"Alex, you requested for the knife to be your main weapon, so the army has provided 2 different types of Knife skills. One is for range and the other for close damage." Lieutenant Khan said as he passed 2 manuals to Alex.

I was able to realize why Alex also got a long ranged manual. After I died, they would need someone to cover for me in the battle-field so their precious recruits wouldn't die.

"They are both of the Lieutenant Rank, so it shouldn't be too hard for someone of your level to train in them. Once again, select your training room and begin. I will come to check up on you."

"Yes sir." Alex stated, performing the military salute as he left me and the Lieutenant.

"Now for you." Lieutenant Khan said, as he turned towards me.

Then, he passed me a book and said," For ranged dealers, there isn't such a thing as Martial Arts which are lower than the Lieutenant Rank. You have not provided merits or shown talent for anything above the Lieutenant Rank and thus the army has decided to not give you a ranged martial art."

I didn't really feel down in anyway, I kind of had a general feeling that this was going to happen anyway,

"However, you did get a Lieutenant Rank movement art, focused on explosive speed and stability." Lieutenant Khan said, as he passed me a book as well.

"Additionally, the army has decided to train you in multiple long ranged weapons. Now I myself don't know how to use any of those, so, you will have to follow the simulations well for that."

I nodded gratefully, realizing I had the opportunity to learn more than 1 weapon.

"One more thing." Lieutenant Khan said, as he looked at me.

"Your Schedule will change a little." He said, as he tapped his Bio-Watch and I reviewed my schedule.

The only change in my schedule was that my second Martial Arts session was replaced with another shooting slot.

This way, I would be able to focus more on my accuracy as well.

"I'm going to be honest, Aiden things don't look good for you." Lieutenant Khan said, bringing my attention to him.

"You don't have an offensive martial art, you don't even have a lot of time to practice your movement technique. You have to revise basic knowledge that is known to most people and you need to learn multiple new weapons basically from scratch." Lieutenant Khan explained.

When he put it that way, I realized I had a lot of work to be done.

"However, you do not have to worry too much. As long as you work hard and become a Captain, everything will be okay." Lieutenant Khan stated.

"Sir, why is it that when I become a Captain everything will change?" I asked the Lieutenant.

"That is something even I recently found out. How about this, Khan. If in the following month you are able to get your stats to the Lieutenant Rank, I will tell you." Lieutenant Khan mentioned with a smirk.

I nodded at him, as he continued," Right, for now, go and use the training rooms. I myself will continue my training, so I will check up on your progress in a bit." He said as he left.

I then went towards the only available room and pressed my hand onto the side of the door.

[Recruit Aiden, enjoy your training session.] The AI said, as I walked into the room.

The second I entered the room, I saw a massive hall, which seemed like a square, all filled in marble tiles, with light seeping through in a way I did not understand.

The hall was so big it would take me a minute to run from one side to the other.

[Which Martial Art will you be training today?] Asked the AI.

I quickly read out the title of my book to the AI.

[Explosive Reach Footwork, LV.1 Training program has been initiated]

The second the AI said that, some tiles on the ground began to light up.

It was footsteps, being shown on each tile, some being red in color and some being blue in color.

Following this, a hologram of a man which had similar stature to me had shown up.

[The hologram generated is what someone with the exact same statistics as you, would be able to perform with mastery over the Explosive Reach Footwork]

The second after the AI was done, the hologram began to move.

I then could also realize what the red and blue steps meant. Red being the apply extreme amounts of force, to forcefully jump to the next part, blue being to turn and suddenly change directions.

[There are 5 different levels for the Explosive Reach Footwork. Level 1, allows for the basic mastery of the foot work. With the current starts of Recruit Aiden, Level 1 of the Explosive reach Footwork is bareilly attainable]

Watching as the Hologram man jumped in accordance with the program, I couldn't help but stare at it in awe.

I could see the amount of distance he was jumping, and it did not seem possible with my current stats.

[The reason why it seems unlikely to be able to perform these actions is because the recruit is still unable to bring out 100% of his strength. While theoretically you can exert X forces of speed, the Recruit is not in complete control over his strength and thus can only exert (X-5) units of force]

Hearing the AI's explanation, I realized what I had to do.

I had to constantly practice the Explosive Reach Footwork, to the point I can perfectly exert my stats, and engrave the movements into my muscle memory.
