Chapter 7

He looked up at the night sky, letting the cool air wash away all the effort he spent that day. He was casually walking through the forest when he heard a rustle.

Looking over, he saw a wolf, and was utterly terrified.

With barely a thought, he began to run. He got a second headstart but the wolf was faster than him. Looking behind him, he saw the wolf and tried to think how to get out of this situation.

Not giving him any time to think though, the wolf lunged at him.

In an act of desperation, Mark Shouted,

"QI ARROW!"

A powerful Qi Energy condensed at the end of his hand, pointed at the wolf, but he was just slightly too late.

"AH!" Mark exclaimed, the wolf biting down on his other arm.

Luckily, Mark still managed to shoot the arrow, with a short delay, he saw the arrow go right from his hand to the Wolfs skull, sinking in with a not so pleasant sound.

In too much pain to think about his victory, he sat there clenching his arm, punctured by the wolf, bite marks too bloody to be seen.

Mark sat there for a minute before finally regaining clarity instead of mindless pain, pushing away the wolf, he stood up with great difficulty and made his way back to Elder Hao's house, knowing that this injury could probably not be cured by others but could if Elder Hao could do something similar to the Recovery Formation.

As he slowly limped over to Elder Hao's house, he quickly figured out a way to stop the bleeding, although only temporary, by infusing the Qi into the point of injury, not a long lasting solution but could last around 10 minutes.

With great pain, Mark finally managed to make it to Elder Hao's place, before collapsing on his door.

Mark woke up, with abrupt pain in his arm, that almost disappeared instantly, as if it was only a hallucination.

He sat up and looked to his side to see his mother, who was sleeping on a chair, clearly tired.

At that moment, someone walked through the door to the room that he recognized he previously got taken to, acknowledging that he was in Elder Hao's house.

"Ah, you are awake. You're lucky I managed to hear you collapse." Elder Hao stated.

"Thank you, Elder Hao" Mark replied, lucky to be alive.

Waving his hand, he stated, "It was my fault, the forest can be dangerous at night, especially to cultivators who are untrained, beasts naturally are attracted to Qi, trying to become Spirit Beasts."

"Anyways, you should be fine thanks to my healing formation, I would give a pill instead, but there is no way to replenish my current stock." Elder Hao stated.

Sitting there for a second, Elder Hao questioned what happened, which then Mark explained.

"Impressive for killing that wolf, at least you had the clarity to, but you got to pay more attention, you've got tools, use them more, not wait until the last moment to use your cultivation." Elder Hao guided.

Pointing towards Mark's mother, Elder Hao spoke,"Well dismissing that, you simply are a crafty one, not telling your mother about you cultivating. I had someone tell her, she came here in a hurry, out of her mind.

Looking back at Mark he stated, "She also stayed awake the whole time you were asleep, she just barely fell asleep a bit ago."

"Well anyways, you are fine to leave whenever, but you should probably get some more rest." Elder Hao said, walking out of the room.

Hearing that, and his eyes still heavy, decided that was a good idea.
