Only the strong matter

"In the endless circle of a dog eats dog world, the weak have no say and are only tools to be used by the strong."

In an unknown time and location:

"Oh my! Rogen! You slimy little thing! How dare you run away from me!" exclaimed an old-looking man with a solemn expression. This old man was Aforn. He was one of the leading members of his faction. No one knew about his past, for he was a very old and mysterious celestial.

"Rogen, you will have to deal with the consequences of going against our plans..." threatened Aforn with a sigh as he opened a portal and flew onto it.

Inside of a deep, dark cave, there was only silence. It was a very creepy silence, as in the darkness a pairs of vibrant shining eyes could be seen. Suddenly, something changed. One pair of the eyes, that had the colour of dark purple pupils, closed its eyes!

"Sigh... so it seems like things have gotten much more complicated than last time," complained the dark purple eyes with a sigh.

"It seems like we can only trust in Flaven, to fulfil this mission," replied another pair of eyes, with a slightly dark orange colour.

"You bastards! How dare you treat my grandson this way!" shrieked two vibrant shining green eyes.

"Sigh! Melisandre, you know we don't have a choice in this matter!" countered two dark looking pupils.

"You! If anything happens to my grandson... I swear... you will all regret it!" bellowed Melisandre as she slowly walked out of the dark cave.

"Sigh! If only... we weren't forced to do this!" declared another pair of eyes.

After that, there was only silence and darkness once more, for everyone had closed their eyes.

Time: Year 11 of the Era of Change Era: Era of Change

As Steven ran to the people in front of him, he noticed that one of them was slowly waking up. The person that was waking up had silky-grey hair and looked to be around the age of sixteen or so. As the boy slowly opened his eyes, he was shocked. "

Where am I? Wait no! Where is Violet?!" frantically shouted the boy in a worried tone as he looked around him to find his sister.

"Whew... there you are. You really scared me, Violet!" whimpered the boy with a sigh as he saw his sister sleeping in front of him.

"But what now? This doesn't seem like a very safe location?" panicked the boy while only now totally comprehending the situation and his surroundings.

He then suddenly saw Steven running to them. As he witnessed this, he squinted his eyes, tensed up and prepared himself, to do anything if the situation required him to react.

"I'm glad to see you guys are okay!" panted Steven. He did not really have a changed and improved physique like those who underwent a transformation. He only had the stamina of an average human. Nothing really special, mediocre at best. But in the Era of Change, a physique like this was basically trash.

In this Era, everything had changed. Not just humans and animals, but the earth, plants and many other things became much stronger and more dangerous than before.

As the boy saw Steven panting before him, he was slightly stunned.

"Why the heck is he panting?" thought the boy. With this thought, the boy without realising it, subconsciously saw Steven as a non-threatening individual.

"Who are you?" he asked with a sceptical gaze, as he couldn't totally comprehend why this person would run towards them in the sight of this dangerous and dark situation.

Additionally, he just could not understand why this person was out of breath. Even the lowest of creatures in this world, had abnormal stamina and a strong physique.

But when he looked at Steven, he thought that even the lowest of the lowest would be able to hold up his head high and say:

"Who said I am trash!!! Look at this person!"

As the boy was thinking this, Steven finally recovered his breath and smiled.

"Me? I am a fool" laughed Steven while smiling.

"Huh?" asked the boy with a confused expression.

In a deeper part of the tunnel:

"That fool! Who does he think he is! Helping others? Who would be so stupid! In this dog eat dog world, without power you are nothing! If you aren't some heaven-defying prodigy, or from a noble family, your fate is pretty much destined to be controlled by the strong!" mocked the voice who previously spoke to Steven.

"Why would you care? Isn't it better for us? With him going there, we'll have more than enough time to get away from this area!" quipped another person.

"In the first place, why did you even try and help him?" asked a rough, yet recognizably feminine voice.

"I... I don't know... I just had a strange feeling! When I looked at him it… it reminded me of my past!" said the voice with a reminiscent tone.

"The past! Huh! Forget the past! Only if you are strong do you get to think about the past. Only if you are strong do you get to even think about others! If you aren't strong, you're basically committing suicide in a world like this," retorted the feminine voice.

"I..." as the voice wanted to say something he stopped and kept silent.

"Whatever! You can think about things like this later! Now let's go!" urged the feminine voice. But as the feminine voice wanted to move on, she noticed that the others weren't moving.

"Xiang! We need to go! Do you think I want to do this? I don't, but we have to survive!" groaned the feminine voice.

"I..." as Xiang wanted to say something he suddenly remembered what Steven said to him before he ran off to the other people ahead of him:

"I'd rather be an idiot, than a man that only cares about himself!"

As Xiang thought of this, he felt something moving inside of him. He couldn't describe it, but it felt like something he had lost once long ago.

This feeling made him suddenly remember his past. The past he had buried so deep in his mind. The things he had tried to forget and the pain he had tried to forget. He suddenly remembered it all.

"Xiang! We must go!" roared the feminine voice now urgently.

"No! I can't... I'd rather follow that foolish boy! It feels like if I go with him, I... I'll find something I once lost!" gasped Xiang as he suddenly started running in Steven's direction.

"Xiang! You fool! Ugh! I swear! What's going on with you?!" hissed the feminine voice, as she couldn't comprehend why Xiang would do this. Nonetheless, she ran after Xiang. For their relationship was clearly not something superficial.

What these people didn't think to realise, was that by making these decisions, they slowly set something in the process that would change the world.

This thing though would only come much later and it would definitely be something they never would have expected to have happened.
