Puncturing It's Skull

Fhhhwwwwooommm~

Mana gathered from all across the place towards the creature with speed and in the next moment...

A red beam shot out from the dark yeti-like creature's mouth, blasting through the tree Landria was initially standing behind.

A massive hole appeared within the tree, causing it to topple over.

Fortunately, Landria already got out of the way and was currently standing on a tree branch a few feet away.

The creature charged towards the tree Landria was standing on and shot the beam out of its mouth once more.

Landria leaped from tree branch to tree branch dodging the beams one after the order.

While doing this, he was analyzing the creature to know where to target next.

Landria pulled out another arrow from behind while in mid-air, and placed it on his string.

The moment he landed on the next branch he pulled the string to the limit and released it.

Zhwwiuuh~

The whooshing sound of the arrow rang out as it cut speedily across the air once more.

The creature swatted the arrow away this time like it was an annoying buzzing fly.

Clank!

It snapped in two easily and the creature proceeded to shoot out the beam from its mouth once more.

Landria was able to leap away from the branch before it was severed in two by the beam.

While he was in mid-air leaping towards the next branch, the dark Yeti-like creature turned its head towards the next tree and shot out the red piercing beam once more.

Thrriii~ Bam!

The entire tree came crashing down, causing Landria to fall towards the ground.

Bam!

The moment he landed on the ground, the red beam was already headed in his direction.

A whitish magic circle appeared behind him as he waved his hand and voiced out a word, "Wind barrier,"

The moment he circulated his right hand in front of him, a great amount of wind gathered, forming a kind of whirlpool.

Thwwhiii~

The red beam shredded the wind barrier apart and slammed into Landria sending him flying backward.

The chest area of his outfit was burnt through due to this.

Luckily the power had been heavily reduced so Landria wasn't too injured. He proceeded to do a flip in mid-air while pulling out another arrow.

Fwwhii~

He shot out another arrow before he landed on the ground.

The Dark Yeti raised its hand like the last time causing the arrow to slam into it and break apart.

It started charging towards Landria with intensity but Landria didn't seem to be done yet as he pulled out three wooden arrows from behind and placed them on the bowstring.

"Earth strengthening technique..." He voiced out as mana gathered around him.

The wooden arrows instantly transformed into shiny black metallic-looking arrows.

"Wind enhancement..." Intense wind suddenly started blowing around him as he voiced this out.

"Firmament concentration... first step," He voiced out next as he pulled the bowstring with the three arrows mounted on it.

Thwwiiiiii~ Thwwii~ Thwii~

The Yeti-like creature was only a few feet away when all three arrows were released from the bowstring.

This time they were way faster than before and arrived with rumbling winds in front of the creature's face in a lined up format.

Surprisingly it was still quick enough to raise its rocky-like arms to block its face right before the arrows could make contact.

Fwwhioomm~

The tip of the arrows suddenly ignited with bright yellow flames as the first one made contact with the arm of the creature.

Thrrrriiiihhh~

It pierced a few inches in and stopped due to the sturdiness of the rocky-like skin but then the second one slammed right into the butt of the first one in the next instant.

The first arrow was pushed further in as the ignited tip burned through the flesh underneath the rocky cover of the creature's arm.

Before the creature could even react the ignited tip of the third one slammed into the butt of the second arrow.

Thrrriiihhh~>

Flesh ripping sounds rang out as the force of both arrows, pushed the first arrow deeper, causing it to tear through the creature's flesh and penetrate through the other side.

Bam!

In the next instant, the first arrow pierced through the creature's left eye. A few inches of the tip stabbed out the back of the creature's skull while still ignited.

"Ghhhrrrrhhhhhh~"

A loud growl of pain reverberated across the vicinity as the creature fell to its back with thick dark reddish blood oozing out of its eye.

Landria slowly lowered his bow after the creature fell and placed it behind him.

"Turns out my speculations were right... It is a low-level magical beast. No higher than a level Zi," Landria muttered as he walked towards the creature that was still writhing in pain on the ground.

A level Zi magical beast was equivalent to two Apprentice Level Mages but for this one, it would still be very difficult for an Apprentice Level Mage to defeat due to its rock-like skin.

Landria arrived in front of it and could see the creature was not dead yet but it was on its last breath.

Landria unsheathed his dagger and decided to put it out of its misery.

He stabbed the dagger into its right eye, puncturing the other side of its skull. The creature finally breathed its last after this leaving Landria with a massive magical beast's corpse.

"This should bring about some profit... The skin can be used to craft armor, the organs will definitely be of use too in making elixirs..." Landria thought as he analyzed the corpse of the creature.

Landria had been able to defeat this magical beast fairly easily, with low-level spells by tricking it.

Repeatedly firing the wooden arrows without any enhancement led the creature to believe, they were harmless.

It never got out of the way whenever Landria fired a shot at it even though it was fast enough to, believing its armor body would protect it from any harm even though its eyes were vulnerable.

The creature believing it could never be harmed by Landria's weapon was what led to its defeat when Landria finally enhanced the weapons combining three different level two spells.

Landria was glad he didn't make use of too much mana but since this place had a higher concentration of mana compared to the town, he could replenish his mana core here even if he decided to use a lot.

"This is not a bad place for a little cultivation," Landria muttered and proceeded to sit crossed-legged beside the corpse of the magical creature.

'I can finally try mana core refinement with the amount of mana in the environment... although it might be slow, it will yield result,' Landria thought as he inhaled loudly.

The mana in the environment began gathering towards him. He directed the mana towards his mana core and instead of absorbing it into his mana core, he allowed the mana to circulate around it, making him feel a sense of invigoration from his mana core.

Landria could sense his mana core just like many other magic users like him.

His mana core was still Rhombus-like in shape with two layers. This signified he could only use a variety of spells no higher than level eight to eleven.

In this world where humans have an affinity for magic, the gifted ones are born with a fingernail-shaped mana core. At this point, they had not even begun to learn or use magic so they couldn't even be considered beginner-level mages.

The fingernail-shaped mana core would transform into a pinky-sized one the moment a human with magic affinity managed to perform their first basic spell.

At this point, they had become beginner-level mages and would start learning beginner-level spells which were in sync with their mana core. They would learn how to refine their mana core.

A beginner-level mage would have undergone what was called mana core examination where they would touch a magical gem that would reveal the type of mana core they had.

Some mana cores were more attuned with certain spells than others. There was chaos, nature, soul, space, creation, and a few other categories of spellcraft.

Based on the type of mana core, a mage would be more skilled in a particular spellcraft than others.

The Power system Of Mages and Beasts will be introduced in the next few chapters...

Along with the Lebenoires' special power grading system.

Nothing too complicated, I'll make it easy for everyone to understand.

The way the level of spells are graded too will be slowly introduced...
