Chapter 8: Library! Mysterious Disciple!

Tian Shen calmly walked out of the dark room and tossed his token to Ren Shi. Who flailed his hands in order to catch the token.

Upon further examination of the token he gasped loudly. He shouted, "A seventh level permission."

The Wang family disciples were left in utter disbelief. It is known that even the sect's head disciple only has a sixth level permission.

The fact that this new disciple had acquired a seventh-level permission was inconceivable. The shock was palpable among all those present.

Ren Shi, too, was taken aback. He just wanted to earn a favour from his senior sister by assisting this outer disciple, he never thought that the ordinary-looking outer disciple possessed such remarkable potential.

With his carefree attitude he cupped his fists to the spectators, took back his token and then proceeded to walk up the pagoda.

He walked up to the first floor, it was extremely large. There seemed to be over a hundred thousand books or so. He picked up a book. But shook his head in disappointment and put down the book.

Upon reaching the first floor, which was incredibly vast and filled with an overwhelming number of books, Tian Shen picked up one book but quickly dismissed it, shaking his head in disappointment.

In this world, martial techniques are split into five different grades. Starting with the lowest; basic, intermediate, advanced, master and heavenly master.

Heavenly master techniques are extremely rare on Earth. Each sect has only publicly stated they have either one or two heavenly master level techniques.

Obviously those top-tier sects would not expose all of their hidden cards but also the difficulty of learning a heavenly master technique which is ridiculously high also factors into why they are kept in sect storages.

He picked up another book on the second floor but placed it down again after a mere second.

His disappointment grew. However, he still walked to higher floors. Maybe there would be something that interested him in the upper floors.

The first floor was completely filled with regular books and basic grade techniques. The second was composed mostly of basic techniques with a few intermediate techniques.

The rarity of techniques increased as one went higher up the pagoda.

There were only around 50,000 books on the third floor. 25,000 books were present on the fourth floor and kept on decreasing, however the quality of martial techniques increased.

He decided to go up directly to the seventh floor. As he walked up, the number of books started to decrease.

Tian Shen had reached the seventh floor which only had 100 books, however most of them were advanced techniques with a few peak intermediate techniques.

Techniques were further classified into four categories: low, mid, high, and peak, making peak-level techniques unrivalled within their category.

It is common knowledge that one can only overcome a peak level technique with either a higher level technique or with unquestionably strong battle strength.

Tian Shen dismissed the seventh floor completely after looking at a few so-called 'advanced' level techniques. If someone else was present they would think he was looking at a bunch of trash pieces of paper.

He headed up to the eighth floor where the space would get even smaller, but he was greeted with a bright golden light present blinding Tian Shen as soon as he stepped foot into the eighth floor.

Tian Shin's curiosity was immediately piqued. He looked through the golden bubble with eyes that could pierce through anything.

"Wow!" Tian Shen gasped in delight. He didn't expect to see someone gain an epiphany while trying to create a new technique here.

By the looks of it, it seemed to be a pretty decent level technique as well. However, said person who was creating the technique was lacking in experience.

Tian Shen saw through everything in a mere glance. He waited patiently. Waited until the person woke up.

While he was waiting Tian Shen noticed that this disciple was not wearing any of the colors that a disciple of this sect is supposed to wear.

The disciple was wearing a light blue changshan, decorated with patterns of soaring birds. It conveyed majestic birds flying freely through the nine skies.

Thoughts of the 'nine skies' evoked certain feelings buried deep within Tian Shen as a teardrop started to flow down his face but it was soon evaporated by Tian Shen's Qi.

Regaining his composure, he continued to watch the disciple.

Time passed very slowly and not long after the sun had gone down and the only sounds that remained were the chirping of crickets and the disciple's troubled breathing.

The disciple in the blue cheongsam finally exited the state of epiphany and the technique was nowhere close to being created.

BANG! Qi violently spread out and all the books on the eighth floor scattered and the bookshelves shattered. Tian Shen however remained unmoving.

The disciple suddenly opened her eyes and spat out a large amount of blood. He did not seem to sense Tian Shen's presence and took out a pill and was going to eat it.

However Tian Shen finally acted and slapped the pill out of her hand. He screamed for the first time, "Are you foolish? Why would you use a pill? Do you want to negate all your hard work during the epiphany?"

The disciple was surprised and asked in return, "Who are you? Why do you stop me from healing my injuries?"

Tian Shen couldn't be bothered to reply and put his hands onto the disciple's back and forcefully pushed his Qi into the disciple, "Circulate your Qi and try to recreate your technique once more." he explained.

Although the disciple did not fully trust Tian Shen he could only do what was asked of him. He frantically began to circulate his Qi and try to imagine the technique he started to create.

Tian Shen entered the disciple's soul space and saw the technique being manifested. It was a man fully clad in Golden armor wielding his sword engulfed in golden flames.

Without wasting time Tian Shen immediately slashed out with his hands towards the figure causing it to dissipate.

The disciple spat out blood again. But he still persisted on creating the technique and did not forget to circulate his Qi.

The figure kept on reappearing as the disciple visualized it and Tian Shen kept on slashing. Once the figure could not be visualized properly and was blurry, Tian Shen instructed.

'The sword is the king of all the weapons and fire contains arrogance as one of the most destructive elements. Therefore, the sword and fire cannot exist peacefully. One has to reign supreme no matter what. Make either one of them submit to the other. Choose one which you see fit to rule the infinite worlds and to overthrow everything in existence and make the other submit."
