"Are you insane?" Gorren yelled, his skin turning slightly red from trying to keep his emotions in check. Still, the plates on the counter in front of him slightly shook, as some of them floated up in the air.
The loud laughter that rang in the air the second he fell to the ground still fresh in his mind.
Still, the next second Gorren got on his feet, he lunged at Ray with his right hand prepared to dig a hole in his face with it.
"Gorren…" Luntro yelled, snapping him back to reality as he moved directly in between them before he could touch Ray. It was obvious that the moment his hands touched any part of Ray's pale and fragile statue, he would break him.
"This is my Kitchen…you follow the rules. No fighting!"
Gorren instantly replied, about to yell only to recall that the person standing in front of him was actually Luntro.
"HE broke my screen pad!"
"Yes and you provoked him," Luntro ordered, squinting his eyes with an annoyed expression on his face, annoyed that every work in the kitchen had been temporarily paused, and everyone's attention was now on them.
"Now get back to work…both of you!" He ordered in a loud voice that echoed across the kitchen, informing the others to do the same.
Ray still stood there with a slight look of shock on his face. The moment he made Gorren fall he had expected nothing less than to be dismissed.
Looking at Gorren he couldn't stop the huge smirk that crept and shone widely on his face the moment he caught him glaring at him.
Hearing Gorren utter inaudible words under his breath, Ray simply went back to work, not minding the huge amount of work he had in front of him seeing Gorren's broken screen pad on the table in front of him.
The night passed very slowly and Ray was dead tired by the time he was done.
The restaurant closed around ten which was the time the workers closed too, but since he was in charge of washing the used plates, he usually closed and left almost at the same time as Luntro who was in charge of closing down the restaurant.
By 10: 15, Luntro was done closing the doors of both the kitchen and the restaurant. He walked out and Ray walked out behind him. With a simple goodbye, Luntro instantly vanished, wanting nothing more than to get home as soon as he could.
Nighttime was dangerous mostly because the people hanging out in the dark were ready to use their powers to rob people, depending on the kind of crime they wanted to commit.
This didn't in any way bother Ray, as he looked across the street at the worn-down building he lived in with other people. Moreover, he knew that he had nothing of value that anyone could possibly want to take from him.
In a slightly better mood, he imagined the nasty expression Gorren had for the remainder of his stay in the kitchen after his fall and he couldn't help but smile a little as he crossed the street.
Ray quickly crossed the street intent on getting some sleep before his fragile body fell to the ground out of fatigue. He was merely some distance away from the steps leading into the building when he felt his body being forcefully yanked away against his will.
He didn't have the strength to struggle nor to speak or yell as he felt a hand wrap itself around his mouth, and his body was dragged into the alley, right behind the crappy building he lived in.
"mmhhhhn…" he struggled to speak, trying to get a word out especially since he couldn't see his attacker. But the moment he was thrown forward, with the freedom to speak, he did.
"LOOK, I don't have any money or anything with me," Ray said instantly assuming that his attacker was simply out to rob him.
"You can have some of the leftover food I have with me," Ray continued to say, finally looking up and around trying to locate the exact location of the bulky nylon he had been carrying when his eyes met that of the person standing directly in front of him with a huge bat and a massive grin on his face.
"GO…Gorren?" he asked in slight shock, instantly recognizing the person that stood in front of him.
He no longer wore the restaurant apron and the sleek red jacket he wore with the brand-new designer shoes could be seen, regardless of the dim lights in the alley where they were.
"Don't worry. You don't have to worry about the cameras. I took care of them," Gorren said squatting down beside Ray while holding the bat over his right shoulder.
"Eh..ehn…don't even try to get up. The only reason I haven't used my powers yet is because I don't want want to leave any evidence behind,"
"Evidence?" Ray thought, the word echoing over and over in his mind.
"If this is about your screen, I can pay you back and fix it," Ray said, his heart hammering in his chest, unable to discard the fear he felt. No one was coming and his already weak, skinny, and pale body was in no shape to fight back.
Gorren said nothing and merely chuckled at what Ray said, while Ray couldn't understand what was going through his head.
"What more could you want from me? Breaking my bones isn't going to get you what you want?" Ray said with a deep conviction in his heart that Gorren could beat him up, and even break every one of his bones but he couldn't possibly kill him. How could he?
"Truthfully…I simply want you to disappear. I never want to see you again. And as a law-abiding citizen of this city, getting rid of scum like you is the right thing to do," Gorren spoke in a clear and deep voice that made Ray look intently at his face. Shocked, to see violence he had never seen, there.
"You…you can't be serious," Ray stammered back, shifting back as he did so, hurridly getting to his feet for the first time since he had been thrown on the ground.
"There's no benefit to hurting me," Ray continued in a louder voice, trying to act braver than he actually felt.
"Ha…ha…You make it seem like there's a benefit to not hurting you," Gorren chuckled as he continued to look at Ray's body from his head to his feet.
"You are a Powerless shit with no powers and you dare to act against me," Gorren growled in anger fully recalling the smirk he had seen on his face when he fell, getting even more pissed that Ray wasn't on his knees begging but continued to talk back at him.
"YOU SHOULD KNOW YOUR PLACE,"
At first, his intent for dragging him into the alley was to get back at him for embarrassing him in the kitchen, but the more he spoke to him, the more he discovered that he couldn't let him live to tell the tale. He was insignificant and no one would miss him so he might as well finish the job. If his uncle got to know about Ray, he would be in big trouble so he might as well kill him and get rid of his body.
No longer seeing a need to hesitate. Gorren shot forward with all the energy he could muster, gripping the wooden bat he had in his hand as tightly as he could, not wanting to falter for a second. He swung as hard as he could, hearing a faint crunching sound the second it made contact with the thigh he had aimed for.
