Blood Critique

"You're asking for an award from someone who's pointing a gun at you?"

"You think something like that can kill me? I wouldn't have lived this long if that were the case."

The man frowned and slowly stood up, Umar followed. "Do you want this?" He tapped a can in his hand and with a raised brow, "do you want to fetch it?"

The room appeared to grow darker at the man's teasing words. Umar's eyes glowed wanting to strangle the human. "I told you I am not a dog," his voice was low holding down anger.

"Then what are you?"

"If I said I want your blood would that make things clear?" Umar sighed tightening the strap of his glove. "A vampire? I've met a lot of races but vampires don't seem to exist," he said critically.

Umar couldn't help rolling his eyes, "we're very sneaky. Can I have some now?"

"Must be hard huh?"

"Wha-" Abruptly the man's face leaned close to his own. When he tried moving away the guy grabbed his arm pushing him into a shelf with a thud. "You must be starving right?" There was a crazed glint in his eye like he was enjoying this. Umar's breathing quickened becoming aware of such a dirty place his back was touching only a thin layer of clothing blocking whatever could be on the other side.

"Stop it," Umar hissed showing his fangs in warning.

The guy quickly released him with a satisfied smile. Umar felt prickly from the shelf and dusted his shirt and arms with his gloves like he was set on fire. "I hate humans.." he muttered over and over getting rid of all the things he saw wrong on his shirt and pants. While being distracted a sudden wave of fatigue had his vision blackening and he almost fell over but caught his balance. He hadn't had blood for a decade, he was starving and his reason was teetering on a balance beam already falling off. He looked in the humans' direction meeting mocking eyes, Umar sneered.

"How about we make a deal Mr. Vampire? I'll give you blood, what do you say?"

"What do you want in exchange then?"

"I'll use you as a guard dog."

Umar scowled at that, 'is this human playing with me?'

The human pointed to his ears and said, "You have sensitive senses, don't you? You can hear and smell the zombies so all you need to do is tell me where they are or if they're close. You don't have to fight or anything, clearly, you're a clean freak. How did a vampire like you even survive this long?"

He didn't like the thought of working for a human but for now, that arrangement could work. Once he finds a more populated place he'll ditch him.

"...Fine."

"Well then," he stuck out a hand grabbing Umar's, "nice to meet you I'm Moros."

'Moros is the Greek God of doom if I remember correctly...'

"I'm Umar," he flicked the hand away in disgust. "So what's your preference with blood? Want it served in a wine glass?" Umar knew he was making fun of him but the only thing he could handle that his OCD didn't affect was drinking blood through his fangs. It was instinct for him, something he had to do to survive. "Place your arm like this," Umar demonstrated, and Moros followed rolling up his sleeve.

Umar almost sighed at the sight in joy, finally! He leaned down smelling the blood through the skin, eyes curving as if he could already taste the blood. Instinctively his hands clutched the arm in place and he licked it before biting down. He closed his eyes at the taste humming as the blood smoothly glided down his throat. The taste is always the best after a long nap. After taking a couple of dozen drags of blood his hair was pulled and the arm was taken away from him. Umar grumbled at the loss still swimming through blood ecstasy wanting to suck a bit more out.

"At this point, I'm going to become a corpse, "Moros chuckled.

Umar blinked his eyes open and realized they had somehow gotten on the floor and felt disgusted. He stood up hastily and licked the blood that had dripped down his lips.

"Was it that good?"

"Of course not you lack vitamin C, tasted bitter," Umar muttered. He didn't want to admit that it tasted good. Really good. He couldn't say that the rest of the time Moros was getting supplies he was craving blood again secretly looking hungrily at him. He had never met a human with blood as good as his...or maybe it's because he was starving. Food usually tastes the best with a sprinkle of hunger, especially after a long nap. He would only find out for sure if he continued to drink Moros's blood, and that, Umar, unfortunately, had to keep doing.

"Okay time to go," Moros held the now full backpack on his shoulder, Umar trailed behind him thoughtfully.

"When did this...apocalypse start?" Umar questioned out of the blue.

Moros looked at him as if he were stupid. "You weren't there Mr. Vampire?" Umar glared, "No I was sleeping."

"Tch I picked up a clueless jab," he muttered.

"Ten years ago some alien virus made people into zombie-like beings. Some Zs can evolve so always be on the lookout." This time he glared in warning as if to say Umar is lacking in skill to detect, he continued, "anyways, some alien rulers granted gifts to the weak gorilla race." He exclaimed afterward.

Umar sneered, "what kinds of gifts human?" He definitely wasn't going to believe the story, it sounds outrageous- much like his existence.

"I'm not telling you."

Arrogant bastard.

"I can say the same to you."

Did he just?

"Yes."
