Chapter 17

Sydney observed the two of them as walked in the neighbourhood. She had noticed Amsterdam wearing her gloves after she went in to change. Ray and Amsterdam were talking as if they weren't fighting the other day. After all, she's a psychic, but she wouldn't dare alter reality. "Sydney", Ray called out to her. "I know what you want to say. 'Would you like to talk to Amsterdam for a bit? Girls stuff and all' ", she quickly said, baffling them. "Well yes. Would you?", Amsterdam asked.

Sydney pointed to her gloved hands and said, "First tell me why you wear gloves. You don't have scars, so do find a reasonable excuse this time", she said.

Amsterdam stifled a giggle before removing the gloves.

Nass had warned Sydney of Amsterdam's reputation, and a curious Sydney always ignored advice.

Ray escorted Sydney home. Well, he had no choice. Though her actions almost revealed Amsterdam's other secret.

Ray: What were you thinking?! What if she actually did something!?

Sydney: She wouldn't. The woman's a hacker and a sniper. How didn't you notice?

Ray: And how did you notice?

Sydney: One; she portrays a very cheerful and giddy personality, telling you that she carries a lot of pain and burdens in her heart. Two; she has a way with her fingers. Though she's ambidextrous, you can see that her hands a rough, not very feminine like if you want me to simplify it.

Ray: Are you a psychic?

Sydney: Not what I was expecting you to ask, but yes. That is all you can know for now.

They decided to change the topic and continue walking. Kobie was waiting for them at the porch with Cass. "I wondered why you people delayed", Kobie said. Ray basically ignored him and went indoors. Cass on the other hand introduced herself for Kobie not to get suspicious about sge knowing Sydney and also went inside.

"It's left with the two of us dear. Should we continue where we left off?", Kobie said and brought out his arm. Sydney coiled her arm around his and nodded.

By the time Kobie came back, Cass and Ray were having a heated argument. "Uhm, what did I miss?", he asked and passed through them like he hadn't noticed that they were fighting. "I don't care if you have telekinesis Kobie, but if you dare interfere in any of this you're toast", Cass yelled at him.

"Then ask me. Let's see if I can answer", he smirked. Walking to the kitchen, he picked the nearest bottle of tequila and poured himself a glass. "If I drink, I die. If I eat, I thrive", she said and snatched his glass and chugged his portion down.

"I told her...", Ray tried to talk but she interrupted him, "You said Anak! How does this riddle involve Anak!? You have a higher IQ than Kobie", she said and finally kept quiet.

He was still pouring himself another glass, but rather slowly. Intentionally bumping into Ray when he was done drinking, he said, "Fire. And never compare me to Ray".

He went upstairs and slammed his door shut. Unbeknownst to him(since he had dulled his powers by then), Ray and Cass gave each other a grin and thumbs up.
