Chapter 9

“You look beautiful, Your highness!”

Princess Amina looked at herself in the massive mirror that was laid before her and couldn’t help but grimace at the sight.

The Royal dresser, a gangly man with unusually bright green eyes, frowned when he noticed Amina’s grimace.

“Is something wrong, Princess?”

Amina looked down at the gown she was wearing, which was a bright shade of purple. “Don’t you think there’s a little too much purple?”

“I was informed this shade is your favorite color.”

“Who told you this?”

The dresser tugged at his tunic. “Your father, King Elias.”

Amina chuckled. “It seems my father doesn’t know me as well as he thinks. My favorite color is green.”

The man’s thin face paled. “My deepest apologies, Princess. Please do not be angry with me. I can make you a new gown.”

Amina went to answer but an older, sterner voice cut her off.

“You will not,” said Queen Ayleth. “The color suits her and it will not be changed.”
