Safe

Dom turned to look at Benjamin, he had nothing against the guy, but he was still very worried about Lulu, and he wanted to be the one to drive her home, to make sure that she was safe, but he hated that he couldn't just leave. It wasn't even lunch time yet, he still had work to do, and he hated that he did.

Dom was about to decline and think of some other way for him to be able to leave work early when he suddenly looked at Lulu and he could tell that she was far from okay.

She was still scared and she was shivering slightly, and there was a cold look in her eyes. Why wouldn't she be still in shock with what just happened?

She said that she wanted to go home, and Dom wanted her to feel safe, he saw no reason for him to keep her here because he was selfish.

"Wouldn't that be a problem?" asked Dom as Benjamin shook his head.

"Not at all, we came over here together." he said, reminding Dom of the fact that Lulu was friends with him.

"Ahh, I see, well then, okay, take her home." he said as Lulu didn't say anything, it wasn't a matter of she couldn't say anything, she did not want to say anything, she just wanted to leave this place and go home.

"Alright." said Benjamin as he nodded.

"Thank you." said Dom as he turned to look at Lulu and gave her another hug and a kiss on the forehead.

"I will see you at home soon okay?" he asked as she nodded.

"Everything is okay." he said as he was reluctant to let go of her, but he knew that he had to.

Lulu nodded to that as Benjamin looked at the other working elevator. Considering what just happened, he doubted that Lulu would want to use the elevator down, regardless of how safe he assured her it was.

Which left no other option for them to get down than the stairs. Benjamin was worried that going down the stairs would be too tiring, they were after all on the eighteenth floor, which to his surprise was barren and empty, he had not expected it to be, from what he was told, almost every top floor was utilized.

Lulu did not even wait for Benjamin, she just turned around and proceeded to walk down the stairs as Benjamin quickly followed after her and Dom watched the two of them as they disappeared behind the door.

Dom sighed, his mind still calming down from the death scare he had just had. He had already started to think of the worst. His little sister could have been injured in there, or even worse... dead.

Dom walked to the other elevator as he pressed the button and it opened, he entered it and shook his head.

Even though what happened was terrible, he could not help but be relieved that it was Lulu and Benjamin that were in that elevator and not one of the employees.

For one, if this had happened to one of their employees, it would have been a serious issue, not only would their lives be in danger, but they would have most likely been unable to get out of there unscathed.

He might sound crazy saying this, but it was a good thing that his sister and Benjamin were the ones in there. And he was very relieved that Benjamin had been with his sister, or else, he was sure that Lulu would have been unable to get out of there in time.

The elevator made a ding sound as it opened on the top floor and Dom stepped out. The ruckus had seemed to finally clear up and everyone had returned to their duty posts.

"Sir, I heard that Miss Lulu is safe, oh thank God." said the Secretary as Dom stopped in front of her desk and nodded.

"You can't imagine how relieved I feel right now." he said with a sigh as she nodded, she truly could not imagine, that was such a terrible way to lose a loved one, but luckily that did not happen and both Lulu and her friend were safe.

"Wait, how did you know that she's alright?" Dom asked out of curiosity, as far as he knew, no one else had been on the eighteenth floor other than he, Lulu and Benjamin.

"Oh the security guards were watched the security footage, and they saw what happened and informed the rest of us." she explained swiftly.

"News seems to travel fast in this office doesn't it?" he asked as she nodded.

"They were only checking the footage so they could try to find out where the technician was." said the Secretary as with the mention of that incompetent fool, Dom's face contorted in anger. It was over an hour later and that idiot still was nowhere to be found.

"Sir, please do not be angry but... they finally found him and he heard everything that happened, and he wants to see you sir, he says that he is really sorry about what happened." said his Secretary very slowly as Dom's face contorted into an angry scowl.

She was frankly a little bit worried and scared. She could count on one hand just how many times she had seen Dom vividly get upset, and when he was, it was never without reason.

So she was worried for the idiotic technician who had bothered to show up at the wrong time. She had worked here long enough to know that one thing Dom didn't tolerate at all was incompetence, so she was sure that her boss would indefinitely fire him.

"Send him to my office now." he said in anger, his anger not directed towards her, but rather at the idiot that he was yet to set his eyes on.

"Yes sir." she responded immediately with a nod of her head as Dom proceeded to his office.

He opened the door and closed it quickly behind him, he sat on his desk and waited for the only person he was upset with today.

It was not long when he heard a soft knock on the door, to which he responded with: "Come in."

The door opened slowly as a man with brown hair, who looked as if he was in his mid thirties, entered into his office warily, as if every step he took would lead him to his impending doom. Which in a way was absolutely true.

"Sir... I am sorry, so very sorry for what happened with the elevator." the technician began almost immediately, he did not waste any time at all, he began to plead even before he was reprimanded.

"Where were you?" Dom asked, his voice harsh and firm.

"I... I... I stepped out to get some things..." he replied, his voice shaky, knowing that whether he answered truthfully or not, he was not getting out of this easily.

"Were you or were you not informed about the malfunction of the elevator?" asked Dom as the technician hesitated to answer, prompting Dom to coldly add:

"The next words coming out of your mouth better be nothing but the truth because I already know every thing that transpired today."

"Sir... I... yes... yes I was informed of the malfunction." he replied this time more his voice more shaky than before.

"Then tell me why exactly you went out to get something while you had a job to do here?" asked Dom as the technician was sure that he was walking on thin ice, or no ice at all.

"I...Sir... the thing is, things like this usually happens, and it is not usually a serious thing." he said.

"Can you hear yourself right now? Do you know how ridiculous you sound??" asked Dom in a tone of irritation.

"What sort of person are you? What sort of lazy, inconsiderate person are you?" he asked.

"I am sorry sir, so very sorry." he said as he pleaded.

"Be sorry for yourself, because you're fired." declared Dom simply.

"Oh no sir, please, please, don't fire me, I need this job." said the technician as he pleaded even more.

"You should have thought about that before taking your job so lightly. You're salary for this month will be paid though, I owe no man." said Dom.

"Please sir, please, I beg you, I am sorry, I did not know that it was your sister that was stuck in the elevator, had I known I would have responded immediately." he said as he fell down to his knees and begged, he really needed this job.

"It doesn't matter if it was my sister or not!" said Dom as he slammed his fists on his desk startling the man.

"You're even lucky that it was my sister and her friend in there, because if it was someone else, you would have jeopardized the lives of innocent employees!" said Dom as his voice was raised.

"If it was anyone else, they wouldn't have been able to escape from there." he said.

"Tell me what exactly I'm paying you for when you can't even do the one thing you are required to do?!" asked Dom, the more he spoke about this, the angrier he became.

"Sir, I am sorry, really sorry, please reconsider, don't fire me." pleaded the man, he had chosen the wrong day not to do his job.

"Reconsider what??! Tell me, aren't you supposed to do weekly checks on all the elevators in the building?" asked Dom as the technician nodded.

"I am." he replied.

"And do you do that weekly?" asked Dom.

"I don't sir... I am sorry, forgive me." he said as Dom scoffed.

"Forgive what?? The fact that all you do all day is sit in your air conditioned office, doing everything except the one thing you are supposed to do." said Dom.

"Come to think of you are supposed to have a partner, where is he?" asked Dom.

"He's on leave sir, please forgive me, I can't lose this job, I need it." he said.

"If you really needed it, you wouldn't have abused it." replied Dom sharply.
