CHAPTER 65- THE JOURNEY INTO HARTLAND THROUGH BREE I

Just as they were preparing to continue on their journey, Darian walked over to his brother.

"Dexter, I have a feeling that these soldiers are just one out of the many that have caught on to our trail. Soon, there will be more."

"What are you suggesting?" Dexter asked, listening keenly.

"If we carry on this way we'll be putting the people at unnecessary risk. I will take my men and split up from here. We'll return to the main paths and distract the enemy, giving the rest of you enough time to get to Bree safely."

His mother gripped his shirt tightly. "No!" She vehemently protested.

"I'll be fine." Darian assured. "As soon as we've succeeded in throwing them off the trail, we'll catch up with you in Bree."

"No, Darian! That's exactly what your father said before he died. I've lost my husband already. I'm not going to lose a son too."

Darian smiled reassuringly, palming her face in both hands. "I'll be alright, mother. I promise. I don't plan on dying anytime soon."
