A Mark Left Behind

I was hit abruptly by a speeding car, that was how my first life ended. Next, I fell into a world filled with Oni, I died the following morning. The next world was empty, barren land. And dead corpses were all that one could see. I committed suicide for the first time. The following... On the 20- Death after death, the tally marks in my white room grows further and further. I sometimes ask myself, 'Is life a blessing or a curse?' I leave marks behind to show that I was there, a pointless endeavor, how will I even know if I did anything meaningful whatsoever? Lovers die, time moves, I am merely an insignificant ant with no place to call home. ~~~~ I do not own any characters, series, books, artwork, etc... used in this book unless I specifically state so. I only own my characters, worlds, and this story. All names, references, etc... are mere coincidence and have no relation to the real world. Note 6/28/2024

Although it is rather a strange time to have a Note, I'll have to tell you readers of this before this story progresses further.

Although the source material of 'Becoming Professor Moriarty's Probability' is the classic Sherlock Holmes series, do not, and I mean do not expect the timeline between the two to be accurate.

It merely is the source material and so it has a lot of changes, the obvious being the gender switches between the characters being reversed.

(If you want to leave now you can.)

Actually since I am on the topic let me further explain the novel itself in a shorter way.

There are many inconsistencies with the translation and I believe it is not their fault but rather the author himself (or herself).

There is a section within the machine-translation of the book where it is said somewhere along the lines of 'everyone who should have been male is female and vice versa'... I do not know how literal I can take that translation but there is a clear contradiction within the first few chapters of professional translation where the landlady of the boarding house of Charlotte and Rachel (Holmes and Watson), Mrs Hudsen is shown. She is not an old man but still a woman. The same within the actual series.

There are many other inconsistencies within the book. This is the reason why I did not put the Beforethoughts as I talked about in the Author's Note.

It literally became a rant of me complaining about the book.

Anyways, do not expect the timeline to be consistent as the original Sherlock Holmes, that is all.

Hopefully I will make a proper Beforethoughts next time…

Haha…

Aside from that rant I hope you enjoy the rest of this book.

A Fun Fact for your troubles, the Bloody Sunday Riot was an actual event within the real world. It was a protest in the same time of 1887 and it was a large protest fighting about some Irish laws (if I remember correctly…). Luckily, even with the involvement of police and the large number of protestors, nobody was killed.
