Chapter 2: Shadow and Mystery

In that moment, as they stood under the moonlight, Kelvin and Alisha both felt like they had found something that they had been searching for. A connection, an attraction, and the promise of something deeper - something that neither of them could resist.

Alisha felt like she had been compelled by Kelvin, but then again Witches can't fall to the compulsion of Vampires.

"Hey, you!" Alisha called out to the tall, dark figure who emerged from the woods. "What brings you out here at this time of night?"

Kelvin smiled, admiring her boldness and curiosity. "Oh, just taking a stroll and enjoying the night air," he replied in his deep, alluring voice.

Alisha raised an eyebrow skeptically. "Is that all? In the woods, at this hour?"

Kelvin chuckled. "I could ask you the same, mysterious lady."

Alisha smiled, enjoying the playfulness between them. "I was just out for a walk, trying to clear my head."

"Well, I hope it's working," Kelvin said, his eyes twinkling.

"What's your name?" asked Kelvin.

Alisha hesitated for a moment before replying, "I prefer to keep that to myself, but what you should know is that am a witch, and you're a vamp."

At a single glance, witches could discern between a vampire, werewolf, and human. Same thing goes for vampires, they could easily pick a scent of a person and know which supernatural specie he or her belongs.

Kelvin smiled. "Fair enough. You're very brave you know, talking to a strange night walker all alone at this time," he said.

"And what about you? Do you mind sharing your name with me?" Alisha asked him.

"I prefer to keep that to myself." Kelvin's response elicited laughter, as they recognized those were the same words Alisha had spoken.

They continued chatting, both enjoying the anonymity of their mysterious encounter. Before parting ways, they exchanged nicknames instead, "Shadow" for Kelvin, and "Mystery" for Alisha.

Their conversation was taut with unspoken emotions, and Kelvin felt himself falling deeper into his attraction to her.

"Until we meet again, Shadow," said Alisha, with a hint of a smile.

"And may the stars guide you, Mystery," replied Kelvin, with a bow.

As Kelvin disappeared into the night, Alisha couldn't help but feel an unexplainable attraction to him, leaving her longing for another chance encounter with Shadow in the future.

It was only a few minutes later that she remembered her current situation - already having a lover and a betrothed. Her guilt over her fleeting attraction to Kelvin weighed heavily on her, leaving her feeling conflicted and confused. She walked home smiling in her heart.

Kelvin's primary aim of returning was to visit his sick sibling who got bitten by a very powerful werewolf.

Kelvin strode up to the grand entrance of the Daniels family compound, taking in the sight of its impressive size and stunning beauty. It had been too long since he'd set foot here. As he approached the door, he was greeted by one of the servants who didn't recognize him and asked what he was doing there.

"Good afternoon, sir. May I ask who you are and what business you have here?" The servant, Finn, inquired politely.

Kelvin fought back the urge to retort with something rude, but he knew it wouldn't do him any favors. Instead, he took a deep breath and answered calmly, "I'm Kelvin Daniel and I've come back home to see my sister, Rita. I heard she's very sick."

Finn raised an eyebrow in surprise but quickly regained his composure. "Ah, Mr. Kelvin, my apologies for not recognizing you. Please come inside." He opened the door for Kelvin and led him into the house.

The inside of the house was just as grand as the outside, with exquisite antiques and fine art pieces lining the walls. Kelvin couldn't help but glance around in awe, relishing in the familiarity of the place.

Kelvin used to live in the Daniels family compound, so he knew his way around the stunning house. Even though he was familiar with the place, he couldn't help but be amazed by how magnificent it had become over the years.

It had been a whopping fifteen years since Kelvin had set foot in his childhood home. And when Joel, his younger brother, caught sight of him stepping into the house, that mixture of anger and excitement was hard to ignore. "What the hell are you doing here, Kelvin?!" Joel shouted, his face flushing red as he made his way over speedily.

Kelvin braced himself for a heated argument, but he couldn't help the surge of excitement running through him. He had missed his family terribly, and he was eager to make amends. "Joel, please, hear me out," he said, his voice bursting with emotion.

Joel shook his head, folding his arms across his chest. "No, Kelvin. You disappeared without as much as a goodbye, and now you show up here like nothing happened. You've got a lot of explaining to do. let's start from why you left."

Kelvin took a deep breath, his eyes locking in with Joel's. "I know, and I'm sorry. But I had to leave. Trust me, it wasn't an easy decision."

Joel softened a fraction, but he still didn't seem entirely convinced. "Well, we'll talk more about this later. In the meantime, Rita's been asking about you. She's sick, but she's hanging in there."

Kelvin's heart sank at the news of his little sister's ailment. "Is she okay?" he asked, his voice barely above a whisper.

Joel nodded, patting Kelvin's shoulder in comfort. "She's all right. Maya's looking after her right. You'll get to see her soon enough."

Kelvin smiled, grateful to be back in the arms of his family after all these years. He knew it wasn't going to be easy, but he was determined to make things right and regain their trust. This was his chance to start over, and he wasn't going to let it slip through his fingers.

Kelvin turned to Finn to ask for directions to Rita's room. "Just up the stairs and to the right, sir. And may I say, sir, your suit is quite impressive."

Kelvin smiled, feeling a bit more at ease as he made his way up the stairs in his dark navy blue suit and black shoes. He found himself walking faster, his heart pounding in his chest at the thought of seeing his little sister again. He couldn't wait to see what she'd think of his new look - it had certainly been a while.

Kelvin made his way up to his sick sister's room, feeling a mixture of emotions. He wasn't sure what to expect, but he hoped that things would go well.

As he opened the door to Rita's room, he was greeted with a surprise. Maya, his wrathful elder sister, was there, staring him down with a look of anger and disbelief. She had already caught his scent and also heard the conversation between him and Joel.

Vampires possess powers such as super strength, speed, heightened senses, immortality, mind control, shapeshifting.

Each vampire is unique, with a combination of these powers that sets them apart as beings beyond human understanding. The Daniels possesses more abilities than other vampires. They're of course stronger than other vampires.

Before he could say anything, she lunged at him with vampire speed and strength, pinning him against the wall with ease.

Kelvin was taken aback but managed to push her off, doing his best to keep his cool despite the situation. "Maya, calm down! What's gotten into you?" he said, hoping to diffuse the situation.

But Maya was relentless, and she attacked him again, this time with even more force. Kelvin struggled to defend himself, knowing that she was stronger than he was, and he didn't want to hurt her.

Joel rushed in, attempting to intervene and stop the fight, but it only seemed to enrage Maya further. Their sick sister, Rita, was still asleep, and they didn't want to wake her or cause her any distress.

Finally, after a few tense minutes, Rita woke from her sleep, coughing and groaning in pain. Her voice was barely above a whisper, but when she spoke, her words were filled with authority.

"Stop it. Both of you. Now!" Her use of the Whipper caught the attention of both Maya and Kelvin, and they immediately stopped their fight to attend to their sister.

Kelvin rushed to Rita's side, tears in his eyes as he embraced her. "I'm so sorry, Rita. I never meant to leave you like that." His words were met with a response of acceptance as Rita hugged him back, her tears streaming down her face.

Maya and Joel watched from a distance, still uncertain about Kelvin's return but willing to give him a chance. They had a lot to talk about, but for now, they were content to be together as a family, even if it wasn't perfect.
